Haru Sushi - Amsterdam Ave

As you would expect, the pandemic has changed in door dining experience. The service was very slow, the food was good, but not special, the lobster tacos were very nice to look at, but, bland, the sushi was fresh and very satisfying. The ambience is very non mundane, but, comfortable. Sushi for two with two draft Sapporo beers was $120 (without tip).

Food was very good and the service was excellent. It was a cold day and it was a little cool in the restaurant. Overall we had a nice lunch and would return.

The employees are kind and courteous and I LOVE that they have an incredible vegetarian sushi platter that’s vegan. All the Haru locations should have it!

This is my first time back since before COVID but the service and the food remain excellent. They did a marvelous job and I can't wait to go back. Love their Happy Hour menu as well. A great neighborhood restaurant.

Absolutely loved it. Went here for happy hour - rolls were delicious and so cheap. $2 off wine and beer, which we took full advantage of. Highly recommend!

Loved this restaurant! Went with my mom for her birthday and the experience was unique. From the hostess to the waitress they were super friendly and they cared about my mom's birthday. The food was unbelievable and the service was outstanding. Thank you for a very special night.

Good sushi plus a limited menu of cooked Japanese food. The salmon terriaki is good. The sushi is always fresh.

we had unique experience when we came during the Super Bowl and were virtually the only patrons for some time,. Food was great as usual and the Restaurant Week menu was a big bargain.

Food was good but not outstanding--I've had better sushi and was disappointed.

The quality of the food is always very good. The service was perfect, relaxed and helpful. The ambience would be great if the music selection were more toward a classical style with a lower volume.

Rude waiter. Took a long time to get order taken. Good solid food. Had to ask to get dirty dishes removed. One thing we order was never brought to the table.

Incredible Service and the most delicious menu!

The sushi smelled like old fish. After the manager argued with us, he finally agreed to take the rolls off the bill - we didn’t touch them. Of course, he tried to negotiate it. Won’t go back and won’t recommend.

I love sushi so had to try Haru Sushi. The location, staff, ambiance & food were all wonderful. After perusing the menu, I chose the calamari salad & Spicy Titanic Roll - Salmon, avocado and caviar, wrapped around crunchy spicy tuna with a bottle of Asahi beer. Great combination of flavors. Already planning my next reservation to Haru Sushi along with checking out the other 3 locations.

Birthday celebration

I took two friends from Sicily who wanted to pay the bill, and not one of their credit cards were acceptable at Haru--ones that they have been using throughout their stay in NYC. It put a damper on the experience--seemed to puzzle the staff and not much explanation was forthcoming. The food was excellent. Too loud for me....I would ask for a table that was not in the middle next time, if that's possible. We made a reservation ahead and I wonder if there is a place to request a corner table?

A bit sloppy on the service.
Forgot food items we ordered. Had to ask for soda 3 times.
They did have a busy night though, and our waiter was always smiling so no HUGE problem. Maybe they should invest in a ordering-system w pads? Everything here done manually w pen/paper....

Excellent food!!!

This was a pre-theater dinner for 3. We started at 5:30 pm and were pleasantly surprised to find ourselves in Happy Hour. The menu was perfect for a light meal and a drink.
Edamame a little over cooked. Cauliflower fritters delicious. Spicy tuna rolls perfect. Roll with tobiko and wasabi tobiko fantastic. Great way to experience Haru for a modest amount.

I was very disappointed. Once an oasis for fresh, creative, generous sushi, our food was tired, uninspired and not terribly good. A real disappointment.

Not good. Way too pound. Tables too close together. My plate was so small my fish was falling off the plate.

Consistently good and classic menu. Good for kids. One of our regular places.

Happy hour deal was good. Nice selection of appetizers. Sushi main course plate delicious. Noisy, so I don't know if I will be rushing back. Maybe mid week would be quiet.

Haru's sushi/sashimi is always excellent. The service was outstanding. Everything came out pretty quickly for a made to order dinner, There are other sushi places on the UWS that are less expensive but most are inconsistent. Haru is worth the slightly more expensive price.

Consistently good food though prices seem to have gone up noticeably. Cold seating host staff and had to flag wait staff a bunch of times.
