"Rediscovering the Art of Classic Details - Diners missing the serenity and Old World details once offered at the county’s high-end restaurants, many of which are now defunct, can rediscover some of those niceties at Il Castello."

This tiny jewel of a place in Mamaroneck, NY packs a big punch with delicious Northern Italian delicacies and an excellent wine list delivered via an impeccable staff.
Rich wood, chandeliers and civil sound levels provide an impress-a-date setting at a cost that is not that expensive for the neighborhood. It is recognized for excellence and one of the best Italian restaurants in Mamaroneck.
Although the restaurant was empty they kindly wait for us as we had booked a table and served us without rushing. Real customer service here and tasty food
Usually Saturday evenings are not the best time to enjoy a restaurant's best dishes. An exception is Il Castello. Each part of our meal was made to perfection, especially the fish and the pasta.
Your Cesar salad made the "larry" way, of extra garlic and anchovies is just top notch.
The house chianti was perfectly smooth and delicious.
Looking forward to another great meal.
We enjoyed our night from our welcome greeting to our goodbye. Food was delicious service excellent we will Devine be back.
Il Castello is our family’s go-to restaurant. Easy free valet parking. The owner Lenny and his staff greet us like old friends. Service is impeccable, thanks to our waiter Davis. Lenny makes a perfect Margarita, foaming and filled to the brim! Scallops were huge (like hockey pucks!), ravioli was scrumptious. Bread basket is to die for. We’ve already made reservations for our next visit.
Always a great meal here. Interesting specials enhance the menu selections. Last week we both had pasta, homemade squid ink pasta with seafood( a special) , and fettuccine with shrimp and mushrooms. Both were cooked to a perfect al dente. The salad special with beets and pears was a great starter to share. The food and attention to detail and service never disappoints here. The owner Lenny and his maitre d' are the best! One of favorites in the area.
Great restaurant. The duck was spectacular. Friends said the scallops were wonderful and perfectly cooked.
Service attentive without being overpowering. Was my first time there. Can’t wait to go back
Always enjoyed the excellent food and this visit did not disapoint. Service was not quite up to their usual standard, as staff could not quite keep up with Valentine’s Day crowd. Would definitely come again, but maybe not on Valentine’s Day or Mother’ Day!
Our favorite restaurant! We had dinner here on Valentines Day. It was very crowded but Il Castello rose to the challenge. Service never faltered. Scallops were huge and veal with cognac sauce was divine. It never got very loud despite being packed with a line out the door. Il Castello has been a long time favorite of ours and I can’t see that changing anytime soon.
Il Castello is the hidden gem of Mamaroneck. Defined by phenomenal expressions of classic Italian food, Il Castello is comfort food at its finest. My favorite seafood dish in the greater NY area is Len’s Branzino and no one makes a better Caesar Salad. They’re simply perfect. The restaurant also has a beautiful wine list that the owner Len knows inside and out - trust his recommendation every time. I’ve gone to Il Castelo since I was a kid and I’ve gotten to know Len well. His and his family’s commitment to excellent service makes the experience. He remembers what you love and makes sure it’s on your table without you having to ask for it. For special occasions, he’s known for a hidden stash of spectacular wine to pair perfectly with his team’s stellar food. Don’t miss Il Castello and make sure to arrive hungry.
Just a flat-out great restaurant and always consistently great.
Food was very delicious! The service was outstanding. I look forward to coming back.
A consistent winner!
Food was average - service excellent and the overall experience was okay.
Nice neighborhood spot. Food is excellent, portions generous. Specials were all we needed. Branzino expertly filleted tableside, octopus appetizer was extraordinary. Nice wine list but they were out of our first choice.
Very nice place, great staff, nice food, truly enjoyable. Decor is pretty, the staff is welcoming and the restaurant is nice and quiet. Highly recommend for a night out with the family.
We went for New Years Eve and loved it. Very lively. Food and service were great! Chicken Marsala and veal francaise were excellent. We will be returning.
Great food and the service was top notch. I want to go back very soon.
GOOD BUT OVER PRICED ALL THINGS CONSIDERED. ALL THINGS CONSIDERED THER E ARE BETTER PLACES.
We always look forward to dining here! The service is great, there are always plenty of hands. The food is great and a great price. We tell our friends and hope they join us each time we go. See you next time!
Have been to this restaurant several times before. The food is good...in fact very good. The service is ok at best. That being said I think they a little over priced. I eat out often so I consider myself some what informed
That all being said I would return .
Very good Italian restaurant. The special fish was tasty and pasta was very good. Staff was very accommodating
Davis was our server and he was excellent! Amazing food and service as always.
We had a lovely Birthday luncheon during restaurant week.
We were greeted warmly and everything about our experience exceeded our expectations!
Davis provided excellent service! Our food was fabulous and the portions quite generous! I ordered Red Snapper and I don’t think I’ve ever had a better piece of fish! It was cooked to perfection!
We look forward to going back soon!
It’s like coming home! We dined here for restaurant week though it’s one of our favorites year round. The owner Lenny runs a smooth kitchen and dining room where all the waiters do not hesitate to help each other out for any reason. I’ve said this before but the breadsticks are unlike anything you have ever tasted.... just the right amount of seasonings. Entrees are always generous even during restaurant week. Martinis, Cosmos and even Margaritas (you heard me) are filled to the brim, cold and just right.
Run, do not walk to Il Castello and don’t wait for restaurant week!
Went there for Hudson Valley Restaurant Week. First time there. The food was very good and the restaurant week menu had wonderful choices. Wait staff was attentive and we would return there for another meal in the future.
Excellent in every way. Love this place the best fish choices in Westchester!!!! And they prepared fabulously!
It was our 8th time there and it was as good as ever. This restaurant, and its staff, are consistently amazing. Food is fresh and deliciously cooked to order, they are very mindful of any allergies or intolerances, and they always have new specials and outstanding menu choices. All of the staff are terrific, especially our favorite, Davis. It is always a pleasure to have him wait on us. I couldn’t recommend this place more.
We had lunch at this restaurant during the restaurant week. Food was all right, but bread is not fresh. Nor were desserts.
Due to inclement weather I arrived at the restaurant approximately 25 minutes before my date. Davis immediately greeted me with a smile and gave me a choice of tables. While I waited, he struck up a conversation which made the time “fly by!” When my date arrived he gave us time to greet each other and then gave us the menus, while he explained the daily specials. He was very attentive, the food was excellent and the ambience enabled my date and I to enjoy each other’s company in comfort. Thanks for the great experience Davis.
We loved Il Castello! We had never been even though we don't live too far from here but that will definitely change going forward. We had a quiet Sunday late lunch or early dinner to celebrate m y parent's anniversary and we had a diverse group from teens to seniors and everyone was happy. The food was delicious (best grilled octopus we've ever had), the service was friendly, helpful and accommodating. Their wine selection as quite nice as well. We will definitely be back and are thrilled to find this neighborhood gem.
The food is very good BUT the service is unacceptable. We took our seats and it was 15 mins before we even got menus. Everything was just as slow after that. A dinner for 4 took nearly 3 hours and we did not even have desert. It’s too bad because I would seriously hesitate returning. This was not an isolated incident but indeed the worst
We have never had a bad meal at Il Castello and we have been dining here for years. Lenny, the owner, employs the best waitstaff and most talented chef. Dishes arrive hot and portions are generous. Tables are far enough apart to enjoy your meal. Valet parking is available. Cocktails are expertly made and yummy. The bread basket is the best around and many specials are offered every night. Thanks Lenny....we will be back soon!
Still the best Italian restaurant in the area. The double cut pork chop was real tasty with onions, peppers and mushrooms.Too bad it was a special and only done occasionally. I asked for them to put it on the menu. They will do their regular pork chop in a similar style when asked. The parmesan crusted red snapper was also terrific. And the drinks are full size, not like the smaller ones that many eateries are selling, just to save a quarters worth of booze.
Excellent food. Very attentive staff
Our go to neighborhood Italian Restaurant on way from NY Airports to CT home. Such a gem of a place from food, to service, to vibe. We highly recommend this place for a reasonable and delicious dinner served by completely competent staff. Everyone knows the staff and each other!
Good food and service. Too noisy- couldn’t hold a conversation.
Excellent in one word. Food, service, ambience, everything
Italian food at its best! The drinks are fresh and ample. The pastas are exceptional and we had a pork chop valdostana, as a special and it was sensational.
Exceptional grilled octopus , figs and Dover sole! I’ll be back and great wine list and desserts too!
As usual - everything was terrific!! Food was great and service was perfect.
