Il Fornaio - Burlingame
Have been here many times over the years. Last night the place was empty (it was early) and the service was non existent. Was seated then ignored for 10 minutes. I guess it was more important to prep the staff for the evening than actually service customers
Carla was our waitress and she is outstanding!!!
Great lace for drinks and apps at the bar. Nice seating inside andout’
Service is good and food are reasonably priced. The pasta and pizza are good choices.
new shortened menu, with nothing very interesting on it and much higher prices.
Excellent food, great service. Celebrating my sister and her husband's 13th anniversary yesterday, my husband and I joined them as we had our own 20th anniversary last month. Hostess very kind so was the waitress and the entire personnel. The ribs were delicious so was the swordfish plate. The waitress made our night very special with a complimentary tiramisu dessert to end our night. The manager Matthew personally thanked us for our visit. Great place to dine and special place to celebrate special occasions!
The food and the service are consistently excellent. We had the chicken pesto pasta, bruschetta, lentil soup and a pizza and while are all good, the carpaccio is especially delicious.
The food is always excellent, but this time the service wasn't the best, which is surprising. Perhaps, there just wasn't enough servers scheduled, I don't know. Will go back, maybe just not on a Sunday.
My favorite restaurant in Bay Area.
The parklet at Il Fornaio is well designed and distractions from the street traffic are minimized. The service is superb, and the food is great.
Bad service and cold food. First one there and waited an hour to eat cold fish.
Food was great as usual Service was good. Could have been a bit more attentive to refilling water and other requests, but still a great experience. One thing I noticed was that we were charged for bread. They asked if we wanted bread and we had said yes, but there was no mention that they would charge us for bread which normally they didnt in the past. When questioned about it they said they started charging during Covid. It's not about the charge, it's about being transparent.
Delicious food, a wonderful wine list and outstanding service.
Talk about a once dependable, consistent casual dining brand that literally is a shell of its former self. Not sure what has happened to their Burlingame location, which was my go to, but everything about this Italian concept is simply tired. Perhaps the impact of Covid? Lack of staff? There was just no touch of that Italian F&B magic anymore. Sad.
Overpriced meal, nothing special. Friendly staff. Outside seating area is great.
Great food and great experience to celebrate my daughter's birthday.
Another wonderfully delicious meal. I can honestly say I’ve never had a bad meal there. And I have tried many things on their menu. But the daily specials are winners too. Heather was our server and she is a star. She is very sweet but best she knows the menu and gives very good suggestions.
Same old Il Fornaio but the menu seems less extensive. They also now charge you $2.00 if you want bread. But, if you do that, you don't get the variety of breads they used to have (olive loaf), just maybe 5-6 slices of french bread.
Something happened during covid. The food is not very good anymore. Gave it 3 chances. We’re done.
Meeting distant relatives for the first time.
I had the petrale sole special -- it wasn't bad, but not great. Gelati misti desert was excellent. The service was very good. The one thing that bothered me was the noise made by the staff when they cleared away the heaters in the outdoor area as the restaurant neared closing time. It seems they should have waited till we had left.
The tomatoes on the Bruschetta and the pomodoro salad were absolutely tasteless. No bread was brought until requested when the main courses were served. The food was so-so for me (Pacheri alla vodka), but the salmon looked good for two of the other diners. One person had a pizza, and it looked OK.
We ate outside so there was no ambience to report. The inside remains light and spacious and well appointed. as it has been over the years. It was three diner's birthday, and the management knew it, and made no effort to acknowledge it in any way other then when I checked in. All in all it was a disappointing lunch.
As usual the food is delicious and you can not go wrong in ordering anything on the menu. Our server, Heather, couldn’t be sweeter. She also has great recommendations. Can’t say enough nice things about her and also the restaurant.
Great atmosphere, service and respectful of social distancing with outdoor dining. Food is consistently good, although Veal was missing from the menu.
Nice atmosphere and the food was good. The waitress was new and the menu was a little limited (about half the size of pre-pandemic), but unfortunately, that comes with the times. Overall, it was a nice experience.
We had a nice lunch outside which was great. Food was very nice and service was good. The servers seemed a little over attentive, two sets of servers who were not coordinating kept asking if we needed anything. Better to have more service than less though in my opinion!
This used to be one of my favorite restaurants in Burlingame. Unfortunately the past several times we’ve been there, the food is not as good or over cooked? The service is a mess. It seems like since reopening after the 2020 shut down they never really found their footing or maybe have had a lot of stuff changes.
Service was amazing! So happy to be back. Smaller menu due to pandemic (missing some long standing favorites), but everything was great and we had a wonderful evening.
Service was deplorable- perhaps due to Covid related employee shortage? The usual attention to the customer was simply not there. With the price of entrees, and past experiences at this standby Italian restaurant, I was definitely disappointed. I live in Marin and came down to the Burlingame restaurant to dine with a friend. Corte Madeira’s restaurant is like a different experience entirely.
Mi piace molto Il Fornaio! I am so grateful that the Burlingame location exists. I was terribly sad to lose the Levi Plaza Il Fornaio. Still not over that loss!
Excellent service, easy to make reservations and a polite staff
Everything was great and with so many places not having enough servers that was not the case. Service was great.
Superb salmon. Due to several large parties, they stashed us in a tiny outdoor table on a noisy, toxic street yet still exposed to the large crowd. Inappropriate in this time of Covid.
This restaurant is always consistently good and predictable. Nice open air environment and outdoor seating if you have Covid concerns
Thanks to to Heather. We had a great dinner.
Service was fantastic
Nothing was good about this place except bread and the olive oil.
Food was tasty, restaurant was clean (we sat outside), and the service was great. We heard CalTrain and a couple planes flying overhead but nothing that distracted from our conversation or experience.
We had a lovely outdoor family dinner at Il Fornaio, our waiter was amazing, the food was delicious and hot, everything was served in a timely manner, great experience. This is hard to find these days during COVID and lack of staffing. Just want to say thank you to our wonderful waiter and to Il Fornaio.
