The food and service were excellent. Quaint, romantic restaurant!!!
Great charming restaurant with Italian food just like you would have at any small cafe or restaurant in Italy. We had a zuchina parmesan dish that was a 20 on a scale of 10 and a spicy ravioli that was perfect. Great little wine list too.
We Found a Diamond in the rough, WOW, I took my lovely bride for her Birthday here, I had never heard of this place, but found it on Open Table, The Salads were great, the main courses we ordered were fabulous, I ordered the Lasagna & my wife ordered the Paccheri al Ragú Napoletano, then we also ordered Torta Caprese for dessert, was fabulous. We will be back again soon, our little hidden Gem.
Everything was delicious!! And the service was outstanding
What a charming restaurant and such charming staff. It was a quiet Tuesday in March when we dined and the food was delicious. My husband had the tonnato salad and the paccheri with a meaty Naples style ragu. I had the artichoke soup and gnocchi with a classic ragu Bolognese.
What ever you do do not pass up the bread with the fried zucchini/ olive oil condiment. That is what unique and delicious.
DELIGHTFUL ambience.... WONDERFUL food + wine! GREAT service!
This is an excellent resturant! We have been coming back periodically over 3 years, the quality of food is consistent and excellent. The desserts especially the lemon chello cake is to die for.
The staff is on top of it and the owner works the kitchen 4 nights a week.
We highly recommend
We regularly go to Carmel for get away weekends, first time here as it is tucked away. We had a great evening, food, service was great for a casual evening
We enjoyed the energy and atmosphere in this restaurant. The service was outstanding as were our meals. Next time we will reserve a table in the courtyard for a slightly different experience.
My wife & I visited this restaurant for our anniversary recently & loved it so much we came back with our friends. This is one of our favorite Italian restaurants in the area. If you are looking for a quiet restaurant with great good this is the place to go. The oil with zucchini mix that they bring with bread is amazing! The eggplant appetizer is also a must.
Amazing pasta and friendly service accommodating to our 1 year old. Are at 5 and was already packed
A great first time meal and we will go back to try other pastas.
We had a marvelous experience. The food was the best meal. The staff was wonderful. We can't wait to go back.
Kale/Spinach with pine nuts was pretty good; ceasar type salad with anchovies was very good; lasagna was too much cheese and not enough sauce for our taste; ravioli with Bolognese was good, but not great. Good service. We just probably ordered the wrong things for entrees.
Server was accommodating, friendly, and efficient. Food was delicious. Service was spot on.
One of the best restaurants we dined at over the weekend! Great atmosphere, friendly staff, and delicious food!
Nicely appointed, great food, and excellent service! We highly recommend this restaurant!!
Quality ingredients prepared simply and extraordinarily well. When they advertise Italian comfort food they are spot on.
Great little restaurant, very sharp with timing, service super fast, food was great specially the octopus, burrata and desserts. Service ultra fast and courteous.
The trio of meatballs were so delicious. We shared a salad and the house specialty pasta, a meat ragu. The service was so friendly and fast. I wanted to try everything on the menu. I will return.
From the reviews I’ve read everywhere I expected a little bit more!
The branzino and the pasta itself were excelent!!
Desserts are just ok, we could’ve skipped them!
The restaurant had a cheerful atmosphere. The food had some highlights. The meatballs were delicious and we also enjoyed our beet salad. It’s worth a try
Delicious food and Raphael as our server and the rest of the team were superb. Not very refined on the plating and presentations but the tastes made up for it. Will definitely go back next time in Carmel.
I typically do not spend time writing reviews, but this meal was incredible. We had the burrata, fried eggplant, seafood pasta and the short rib specialty pasta. Please excuse the fact that I do not have the exact menu item titles listed, but i am not in front of their menu.
The zuchinni dipping oil to start is great. Service is spot on. Ambiance is lovely. We sat outside.
We were still talking about the meal 48 hours later, which is unheard of in our household.
Do not walk, run to this restaurant. I know it can be hard to get a reservation and sometimes when we visit carmel we are unable to, but you will never be dissapointed with a meal here.
My husband and I are here for New Years. Fantastic food, very romantic and a great wine selection! Would definitely return.
Nice atmosphere, but unfortunately entrees were meh. I would call both entrees underseasoned (lamb shank and napoletano pasta) Had high hopes for this place so a disappointment unfortunately.
Lovely experience all the way around. We ate outside in late Dec. with cool weather but were comfortable with the heaters and blankets. The food and service were excellent and the entire experience was most enjoyable. Highly recommended.
Such a great meal, dishes were full of flavor, service was great, we went later in the evening and sat under the heat lamps it was lovely.
This place is fabulous! Only criticism is that the room temperature was a bit chilly. Other than that, the experience was superb. Thank you!
Amazing! The meatball trio was the highlight but everything was incredible.
We had an outstanding dinner here 2 years ago. This time it was just ok. Also an excessive corkage charge of $30 feels like there's resentment behind the policy. We will take Il Tagamino off our list of Carmel restaurants
Excellent service and really wonderful food. We enjoyed our evening very much
Eh. It’s alright, nothing special.
Lamb shank was well done but the risotto was too thick and far too much cheese.
The ravioli was over sauced and again, far too much cheese, we could not even taste the filling or sauce.
Service was brilliant and I think with a little more attention to detail and tasting your food your store has a future.
I came with two other guests whose meals were quite inedible. My one friend ordered the pork loin which was extremely over-cooked. The potatoes were reminiscent of Denny’s or iHop breakfast potatoes but soggy as if they’d been soaking in oil. The broccolini was the only edible part of the dish. My other friend ordered the fish special which was tasty but also served over the same diced, oily potatoes. The pork was completely refunded by our server which was greatly appreciated. We would have appreciated if our sever would have followed up on our food earlier. He dropped the food and didn’t check back in until he was clearing our plates and realized they hadn’t eaten their food. He offered to make a different dish but by then we were all finished eating. The reviews were great and we were extremely disappointed.
Service was tremendous, food was fresh, flavorful and creative. Wine list was very interesting and extensive. What’s not to like about Il Tagamino? Try the seasonal greens sautéed with pine nuts and raisins. It will be a new flavor explosion in your mouth.
The food and the service were absolutely perfect! Thank you for an amazing experience!
First time coming here. We came down from SF for our yearly visit with friends for Thanksgiving. We had an earlier reservation, but the traffic was BEYOND horrible getting to Carmel! Between the regular traffic and holiday travelers, it took us WAY beyond our reservation time. We called from the road and they were very understanding and held us a table for nearly 2 hrs past our time! TOTALLY appreciated it, especially in the rain!
Their staff was friendly and made us feel welcomed and were most sympathetic of our situation as well. They brought us a complimentary sliced zucchini in oil with sourdough appetizer (in the house)! We ordered a wonderful cannolini bean/veggie soup, a very creamy Buratta with toasted sourdough & a Ragu pasta & a mini eggplant type lasagna. All excellent tasting! Had a great Chenin Blanc too. We were SO full, we had no room for dessert!
It was a very well cooked meal, generous portions, nicely plated. For sure we will return. Good value for the money. It’s location is tucked away behind the Cottage of Sweets store in a courtyard, so it’s hard to see from the street. Bon Appetito!
Great food. Superb service. We will definitely be coming back.
