Terrific food and service. Must go again.
Definitely the best Mediterranean food you can find in Midtown. Great food and nice setting. Well worth a visit if you’re in the area and looking for somewhere to eat.
The food has been delicious with some creative touches. Service is very attentive without being intrusive. So glad to have Iris, a special restaurant, in our neighborhood.
The good news is, everybody hasn’t discovered IRIS yet … there is no bad news. As previous residents and frequent travelers to NYC , IRIS has jumped up to our top five restaurants in Manhattan. Have the Sweetbreads and say Hi to Nicholas !
All the dishes were perfect. We initially ordered swordfish tartar which I have never seen anywhere before, cured fluke, lamb flatbread, quail kebab, and Aegean stew. My fav was fluke since it had this smoky flavor with citric sauce and swordfish tartar and flatbread were both unique and delicious. There were two quails on the metal stick which was perfectly cooked and the stew was so good with the sauce and vegetable. We immediately ordered hake too and it came nicely crispy on the edge but soft inside. For dessert we had pomegranate sorbet. Would definitely come back here with our friends
Beautiful interior, great food and service…
A wonderful take on Greek/Turkish food. Excellent service!
Good food. Very expensive
Sat at the bar and hard a great experience, very attentive staff along with great food.,
It’s not inexpensive to eat there but the food is wonderful. It’s a great place to celebrate an occasion. My 3 sisters and I all had seafood. We shared a desert, a chocolate delight. Praise to the pastry chef. The cocktails and wine were perfect. The waitstaff were very helpful especially with wine selection. We tried to go back after the next evening after the theatre for drinks and that chocolate desert but they were closing. We shall go again when we return to New York City.
We sat outside and even then it was a quiet and focused experience.
Food was awesome, no doubt. Service was terrible. Waiter did not come by other than to take our order, had to flag another server down for the bill.
The staff was professional and gracious and the food delicious.
Great service and food
Music was not interesting and too loud
Don't understand why there is a charge for one piece if bread which was not a specialty bread
I had an absolutely superb dinner last night at Iris. I started with a dozen oysters,
then I had the cucumber salad with crab, which was delicious, then I had as the main course the diver scallops, equally delicious, and the best diver scallops that I've had in
my life. Service was professional and attentive and the ambiance is as good as it gets,
the lighting dimmed during the meal creating a dreamy atmosphere. Normally I don't like music in restaurants, but at Iris I did. If there was something that I didn't like it was the oysters, which were small and flavorless, but considering the state of
the world today, I was happy to have oysters at all. Iris is a special occasion restaurant and I can't wait for another special occasion so I can go back!
Not very busy, a little empty but it was the Jewish New Year
I eat out a lot at good restaurants. The octopus was good -the fluke was 5 small pieces, the flat bread was good. The fish was not good. There was not a grilled fish option for one so I got the steamed black bass. I hated the sauce and the fish had a fishy taste. They offered to replace it with something else but there wasn’t another plain option so I just ate the fish on a plate away from the salty fishy sauce taste. My husband had a fish dish which he said was too salty. Despite the fact the restaurant is 2 blocks from my apartment we won’t be back. Such a bummer since the restaurant is beautiful and I loved the interior.
Spectacular food and even more spectacular staff. The thinly sliced tomato starter flavored with something called caramel pop is work a special trip before the tomato season ends.
This remains my FAVORITE new(ish) restaurant in the city. The food is beyond outstanding!
I was disappointed last night to start to pick up a bit of a stand-off-ish-ness attitude by the Host and the bartender.
As the business picks up, I really hope they don’t become a “you are lucky to be dining with us” attitude. Last night, there were snippets of that in the way I was greeted and treated by the Host.
The kindness and joy and pride they displayed in the opening weeks were so refreshing, especially after not dining out due to COVID.
I’ve been here 7 or 8 times already- please stay warm and friendly!!
The service is second to none, and the food is fantastic!
This gorgeous new restaurant is a fabulous addition to the mid-town neighborhood.
Our waitstaff was outstanding, and Alicia, our head server, was absolutely the best!!! The food was creative and delicious....simple and perfect...always the best!!!
My friend and I had a blast!!!
The restaurant's decor is gorgeous, sleek and modern. The ceilings are high and all of the tables are well spaced, a welcome sight during these tough times. The food is very good, albeit on the pricey side. The service is very attentive.
Had a wonderful mezze plate and a squash flatbread. Both delicious and full of flavor. Oh, and of course some wonderful Turkish wine.
A great modern voyage with real food!
Excellent food, very nice dining experience. Would recommend.
Overall experience was very good. I thought the main courses, delicious as they were, a little skimpy for the price. A vegetable or starch accompaniment would have been nice. The food is delicious looking and tasting and obviously prepared with attention to detail. Likewise the ambiance and room decor.
A great fan of Fraser, I've eaten at all his places numerous times. Friday's visit was below par. Won't try to guess why. We decided to share a variety of non entrees, the better to sample a variety of offerings and because of the limited and generally expensive entrees (lamb chops $65) The mezzes were good, flat beads Tasty octopus very flavorful and tender but like the disappointing quail skimpy portions. Our rose tasty, aided by fine help from somm. Doughnuts and baklava below their prior greatness and again very small portions. Service was attentive and pleasant.
Hope this was an off night and not a sign of decline. Wish you served lunch.
Drinks, food and service was ousts ding. Highly recommended.
Food was only fair Happy hour Mezzi and Flat bread good, Too many service mistakes, wrong drink, forgot Mezzi.
Very pricey but you can get away with a bunch of apps.
Somewhat classic Mediterranean cuisine but each dish had a mild twist with a spice or an ingredient so as to make it more interesting.
Service was excellent.
Wonderful food. Very noisy. Service was poor and rude waiter.
Too many choices in Manhattan for this type of treatment.
However, food was great. If you are young and beautiful you might be treated differently.
What an wonderful dinner experience. The service, food and ambiance were just perfect. What a wonderful restaurant
Four of us were dining and we were all very pleased with the experience. Our server, Nicholas, did an outstanding job! I wouldn’t hesitate to go back.
Food was fresh, but not particularly memorable for a “fine dining” experience. Whipped feta app relatively flavorless. Pita was very good. Heirloom tomato salad was nice but not a lot of flavor. Swordfish tartare also fresh but again, not much flavor. Entrees better executed, but one lamb chop was delivered rare and not medium rare - was graciously returned to the kitchen by our server. Turbot special was delicious, cooked perfectly and the underlying beans and purée were a nice accompaniment. The French fries are outstanding, LOL, very crispy, well-seasoned and salted. Nice wine selection, interesting choices. Service started out attentive and fell off. More than 1/2-way thru entrees before server checked to see if things in order. Won’t be returning, just meh overall.
Fantastic place! Great service, food was extremely flavorful. Loved the:
whipped feta (spicy oil was great, very smooth texture)
swordfish kebabs (loved - and I hate swordfish usually)
Also, interesting wine list, superb cocktails and after dinner drinks. Highly recommend.
Great additional to the neighborhood! Although we were the last reservation in before kitchen close it, they were extremely hospitable and friendly. We enjoy the food and service.
We had a marvelous dinner at Iris. Being outside there was no problem with noise. The service was excellent, very attentive and efficient.
As to the food, we had a dish of monkfish which had to be the best we ever ate.
Way overpriced for the quality. Food was nothing special. Swordfish skewers were over-salted. Service was average.
This place seems a bit overrated.
The food is good but not great.
We shared the mezze mix and here is the breakdown of the items ordered from best to less good:
1-eggplant dip: excellent. That dip is by far the best of the dips
2-olives: the olives taste great
3-tzatziki: very fresh and pairs very well with the endive. Otherwise the flavor is definitely not particularly mind-blowing
4-hummus: below average. I make a better hummus at home in 5 minutes with canned beans. It's not bad, just below average.
5-whipped feta: not great. Not particularly flavorful and has a tang that doesn't really work for me
6-sourdough pita: very disappointing. I was excited to have that since I only eat sourdough bread but this pita was very bland. Unless you dip it in the olive oil they have at the table it really doesn't add much flavor to your bite
7-dolmas: nothing particularly interesting with this item
We also had the stone fruit salad and that was excellent. Very fresh and flavorful.
The restaurant is very nice inside and us great to celebrate a special occasion.
Also the quality of the food is great: we didn't have any bloating or anything after our meal which unfortunately is rare when eating out..
We didn't try any meat/seafood item so there may be something there we missed but given the price and the lack of flavor of half the food we had I'm not sure whether I'd go back.
