Der von Marylands Eastern Shore stammende Küchenchef Anthony Chittum hat sich seinen Ruf nicht nur mit seinen kulinarischen Fähigkeiten verdient sondern auch mit seinem Engagement für die Beschaffung seiner Zutaten von einem Netzwerk lokaler Bauern, Fischer und kleiner Lebensmittelproduzenten. Chittum und sein Team beziehen ihre Inspiration aus der griechischen, sizilianischen, sardischen und süditalienischen Küche, wobei die Traditionen und Küchentechniken durch die Nutzung bester Produkte der Verkaufsstände am Mid-Atlantic definiert werden. Unser Degustationsmenü wird jeden Abend in unserem Dining Room angeboten. Sie haben die Wahl zwischen einem 4-Gang-Degustationsmenü (USD 60 pro Person, zusätzlich USD 40 mit passenden Getränken), einem 6-Gang-Degustationsmenü (USD 80 pro Person, zusätzliche USD 50 mit passenden Getränken) oder dem Degustationsmenü am Chef's Table (USD 110 pro Person, zusätzlich USD 90 mit passenden Weinen) und sind darüber hinaus eingeladen, sich Ihr ganz persönliches kulinarisches Erlebnis durch die Auswahl von Gerichten aus Menükategorien zusammenzustellen.     It was a bitter cold day and the cozy fire in the dining room was the perfect welcome! From the host who greeted us warmly to the charming waitress, we felt very well taken care of. As for our meal, it was amazing!! We shared the arancini and hummus as appetizers. My dining companion and I agreed these were among the best of these dishes we had ever had! My friend ordered the shrimp saganaki (sorry if misspelled!) and I had the gyro. They were beautiful to look at but the taste was so delicious. I’ve never had a better gyro! We were catching up and stayed a long time - we were the last to leave the dining room but we were never made to feel rushed. I can’t wait to go back to this very special place!

    We had a wonderful dinner on the outdoor patio. The chef was very accommodating to the vegans in our party. Everything was delicious, everyone was super friendly, and the patio was warm with the fires and heat lamps.

    Gobsmacked at how every single item on the tasting menu was absolutely delicious, and there were a lot of offerings. More than what we realized and was such a pleasure! The service was perfect. Will dine here with friends soon.

    A wonderful evening. We did the “Family Table” option. Several previous reviews had mentioned the large amount of food this option entails. We are generally not big eaters, but did not find the volume of food overwhelming. Each dish was downsized to a more mezze plate sized serving thus allowing each person to have a reasonable sample of many of the dishes the kitchen had to offer. Several offerings were outstanding, many were excellent, and the “worst” were very good. Our server was also excellent. He was especially helpful when it came to navigating a wine list full of unfamiliar offerings. As the evening progressed, the place became very busy and the waitstaff team did an excellent job making sure no one “fell through the cracks.” One pays for the food and service, but have to say that overall our evening at Iron Gate was worth the price.

    We had a lovely evening at Iron Gate. It's a beautiful space, we sat indoors but the outdoor space was stunning and we will be back for that. The food was delicious, we did the tasting menu and loved everything! There were so many delightful surprises with our meal and it was a great amount of food, we were very full. We were also celebrating our anniversary and they had a few special touches to help us celebrate the evening!

    It's such a fun tasting menu. Very generous portions! The ambiance is between cabin cozy and a swiss chalet. Service is top-notch. The outside seating with fire pits looked cozy if only warmer.

    Outdoor dining area is beautifully designed. Toasty warm even on a chilly night. Menu is unique & inspired. Wide range of selections, served family-style. Attentive service. Only “complaint” — too much food! Recommend highly. Many thanks for a perfect evening. Our guests from NYC were tremendously impressed. As were we.

    It’s a family style dinner with $75 per person, drinks are not included. There are a lot of appetisers but the main course is very small. The food is mediocre and not worth the steep price you end up paying. Also, the red wine is from Italy and Greece but the price is outrageous. I am ok to pay for a good wine but not from Italy and Greece.

    Coming from the Bay Area, the Iron Gate felt so cool and east coast with tons of history. We loved this charming restaurant! We sat outside under the white lights and it was magical! Inside dining room looked cozy and old school cool with a brick fireplace. And the narrow bar area looked like a great hang. The food was next level delicious! We did prix fixe for two and while it allowed us to sample everything and determine our favorite dishes, it turned out to be way too much food. Next time we will order a few dishes a la carte and spend half the price (and not waste so much food, esp the huge platter of pasta at the end.) Highlights: the dates with blue cheese, the house made foccacio bread, the first hummus dish, Atlantic swordfish, and the last dish, the spice apple desert. My only suggestion is the sweet and attentive busboy filled our water a little too often but that’s a pet peeve about most high end restaurants these days. I’d rather let my glass get empty so as not to have the frequent intrusion. Overall, a special spot with amazing food I’ll be thinking about for quite some time to come.

    IronGate continues to be one of the best restaurants in DC, and I will continue to patronize as often as possible. My only complaint is the loud music was somewhat distracting and the outdoor seating was unnecessarily cramped (I was touching the back of another customer and had to coordinate in order to stand up).

    Went there for my partner’s birthday, and they made it so special. An insane amount of food, but they were ready with boxes for us to bring it home. Our waiter was incredible and each dish unique and delicious.
