Once again we had an incredible experience! We were celebrating a birthday and everything was flawless, as always. Our server was wonderful and the food was great. We have been going to Javier's ever since the small location in Laguna Beach. The food has always been consistent - FOR YEARS! It's one of our go-to's for special occasions.

I was excited to try Javier's because I had heard good things and we love going to Red O across the street even if it's not the most authentic and a bit pricy. Finally got a reservation at Javier's and the whole experience was so disappointing. We had a reservation but they sat us at a small table next to the bar. I was on a hard stool and had to sit with my knees to the side. It definitely felt like we had been relegated to a bar table. My seat was constantly getting bumped by people going to the bar and the noise was so loud I had to shout across the table to my boyfriend. It was a Friday night and it seems like Javier's is a place people like to go out because the flow of people into the restaurant never seemed to stop. For the food/drinks, the drinks are all around $20 and mine was a solid skinny marg but my boyfriend's casa marg tasted solely of cointreau and nothing else. In addition, the ahi tasted like it just came out of the fridge and our shrimp taco and mole poblano entrees were just okay. For $38 each was definitely not at that level. Waiting 45 minutes for the food didn't help things either. Maybe we ordered the wrong things, but the atmosphere plus the food delay and drink issues has made me not want to try it again. Guess we'll stick with Red O for our slightly upscale Mexican food cravings.

We had such an amazing time celebrating a birthday. Keyrin was not our server, however she noticed we had questions and was extremely eager and helpful in answering them. She gave us plenty of menu recommendations. One being the Cabo Azul that we got and absolutely loved. That lobster enchilada with the poblano cream sauce was INCREDIBLE. After our meal she even came back to ask if we enjoyed it even though she wasn’t our server. Which we really appreciated. I wish I remembered our actual servers name because she was very attentive to us as well. Overall we had a great experience and will be back solely for that enchilada 😋

The ambiance and food were both very good. Our selections were Steak Picado and Mole Poblano. We also shared a Tres Leches for dessert, which was stellar. The service was fine, but the only disappointments were that the rice that came with the Steak Picado wasn’t ready until we were paying the bill. We took it home. Perhaps the issue was that our reservation was at 11:30AM which is opening time. The other disappointment was that this was was an anniversary as noted in our reservation, yet no special provisions were made for that. Still, it was a very pleasant experience and we will definitely return.
