Honestly very disappointed tonight. It is Father’s Day several items on menu not available. Our server Sayed was attentive but over worked with too many tables. The really odd thing was when I asked for a cappuccino Sayed came back and said that they were out of coffee beans so I could not have one. YIKES! No coffee beans on a restaurant? WHAT????
We thought we had found a “diamond on the ruff” with Jen’s but rethinking it for sure!
A great Fathers Day experience!
This was our first time at Jen's. Wonderful menu choices. Beautiful setting with indoor and outdoor. he duck special was perch were excellent.
The best out of the city
Love this place
We had an excellent waiter. We celebrated my birthday and we had a lovely time. We will be back again...soon.
We absolutely love this restaurant! From the staff to the food and the service is top notch
We made reservations a week in advance, when we arrived we were told we had to sit outside because the entire restaurant was booked for a party. My husband suffers from allergies and was miserable the whole night. Why weren't we given advance notice?
It was my husband’s birthday and the restaurant had a birthday card there for him. The owner walked around and chatted with the guests including us. Very friendly and great food!
The food was delicious. The wait staff very friendly
We love Jen’s. Never had a bad experience. It was our servers first day and she did fine
The restaurant and outside areas are beautiful. The food was okay but nothing to rave about. Service was great. I will try it again and hope the food is better.
It's a beautiful venue with lots of interesting food choices. But the service was terrible. We had reservations for 4:00, and didn't get out of there until 6:23! So slow. I don't know what the problem was, but feel like our waitress could have explained, or apologized, or bought us a drink or something.
Our waitress (f/w) 50s pony tail was a horrible server. We were neglected the whole time. Had to ask for our drinks twice. Brought soup and salad, dressing was not on side as requested. Had to ask for bread 3 times. Received one of those 1.00 garlic bread style loads you buy at ALDI. I had filet my hubby rack of lamb my 8 ounce filet was actually 2 4 ounce medallions. Probably would have had better service if we went to literally anywhere else. Highly disappointed. Manager in teal shirt was so busy tending to the birthday/ grad party playing with little kids he didn’t bother to check on any other tables than the ones he walked by adjacent to party room, which our waitress had nothing to do with.
The food was a great as usual. The kitchen service was slow. The waitress did her job to the best of her ability affected only by the kitchen. My biggest problem was some oaf that was assisting the wait staff with water, bread and sometimes a plate.
He was loud, obnoxious and did I say loud. He at one point offered to refresh out depleted bread and when we accepted he promptly sat a reheated, half eaten loaf on our table. He should not be serving in this environment.
Hiccup with seating but Mike worked it all out! Wonderful evening!! Will go back fo sure!
We have dined outside twice this season, beautiful
Excellent evening from start to finish. Great service and food!
We dined at Jen's last Sunday celebrating our daughter's birthday.
We were able to get a table by the window as requested. A little
disappointed that we were seated in the small room because there was a large
Party in the main dining room, different ambiance. Our waiter, Chris was
awesome! He did a great job,, very friendly & accomadating. He gave us a
tour of the wine room downstairs as we requested. Our daughter wrote on
facebook that this is her new favorite restaurant!!
We went to celebrate my parents 50th wedding celebration. I noted in our reservation. It was never acknowledged. Service was VERY slow. Had to ask for children’s menu. Waiter tried telling me it was “like chicken fingers and hamburgers”. I asked for it twice. Finally got one menu (two kids were dining). Looks like they could have been coloring and doing activities on the menu which would have helped them pass the time since we didn’t get our food until 90 minutes after we sat down. Our server forgot drinks occasionally, water wasn’t refilled AT ALL. Some food came out cold. Asked as soon as we were seated if we could split the bill between two parties, got the bill and it was not split. I told the manager about the horrible service and got a “sorry”. Nothing more in depth than that. Kinda a bummer for an anniversary celebration where we spent a considerable amount of money. On the other hand, we did really enjoy the food. And the restaurant had a nice ambience. I would not go back with kids or with a large party.
I have been to Jen's Guesthouse twice before. Loved it then...Loved it now. A great place to have cocktails, dinner or listen to music. I love it.I will be back..
Beside the great food, sitting outside with wonderful easy listening live Jazz made for a perfect evening for our group. It has become our “go to” spot.
Great Michelle 5 star
Lovely small restaurant with a great bar and outdoor seating. Good for casual or special occasion
I made an online reservation after calling twice and having my call go to voicemail. Online it said they were open until 9pm Monday May 27th, 2019. Apparently they were closed. I discovered this when we drove there and the lights were off and saw restaurant was clearly closed. I also called a 3rd time saying I saw the restaurant was closed and to go ahead and cancel my reservation. 3 days later no manager has called to follow up with me or apologize for the confusion. This is poor planning and poor customer service.
This is a very nice place with friendly staff and really good food. The atmosphere outside is wonderful while the inside is fairly ordinary. I also think the value is great and don't understand how anyone would consider this high priced. I find the prices to be very reasonable for what you're getting.
The dining room was excessively noisy with frequently drooped silverware. Service was fair. It seemed like they were understaffed.
Sat outside on a lovely Saturday afternoon. Couldn't have asked for a nicer experience.
Live music inside wasn't piped to outside speakers, so we had overlapping music. Then a bird dropped on our table, just killed the moment lol Spinach dip was tasty & pork chop was beyond juicy. Great food.
Very nice layout. Would like to come back and sit outside on a nicer night. My son’s oxtail and my wife’s salmon were delicious. My pork chops were good but not great.. I prefer Italian style-breaded and smothered in garlic/oil and seared... will try something else on the menu next time, but overall it was a comfortable setting and even the two piece band that played during dinner was good. Impressive outdoor patio. The only thing I’d change about the room would be to add some high end booths. It felt a little too “cafeteria-like”, but maybe I’m nitpicking. I just would like to see more high end places in the SW suburbs, and this place, in my opinion, is good now but has the potential to be so much more.
Great food, staff and ambiance.
Excellent entrees and a great wine selection. A beautiful setting.
We went to Jens for Mother’s Day. It was very loud and it took a while to get our food, but that is to be expected on that day. The food was great, we will come again on a quieter day.
I went for Mother’s Day and the food and ambience were great. The host was professional, accommodating and a gentleman. I do wish there was some sort of dress code for the guests. There were several patrons at different tables from different parties in sweatshirts, hoodies or jeans. Most of the patrons were dressed appropriately for the white table cloth dinner. Although I do understand this is not old courtwrights and it does not have a Michelin star. The slot area in the old coat room and guest tarot reader advertising seem out of place. This is a wonderful restaurant set beautifully, they should be themselves and not try to cater to what makes cash quick it might reestablish some of the shine of the old restaurant.
We went on Mother's Day for dinner. We were seated close to our reservation time and all the ladies in our group of 9 got flowers which was nice. The dining room was beautiful. There was a special menu which had plenty of choices and options. We felt that the arrangement of tables and service was really unprepared for Mother's Day. We were seated toward the back and the table arrangements were so long that the "aisle" could only be one way. So if a big party was exiting, our server couldn't get through. Several of us went a long time with no refill or second bar drink and we finally had to have another server get our waitress. When we got our food, my steak was well done when I ordered medium rare. I usually don't send food back, but the meat was really done and since I was spending that kind of money, I wanted it right. The server was gracious about that. Once we ate, the crowd had thinned out a bit so we got dessert and bill more promptly. I would return but NOT on any type of holiday. I was really disappointed with the service and table set-ups...
This is consistently a very good restaurant. I love the food and the atmosphere. This is one of our favorite restaurants
I take some responsibility for my lack of enjoyment. I made the reservation on OpenTable for Mother's Day and only looked at the menu posted on OpenTable. If I had gone directly to the restaurant's site I would have seen there would be a Mother's Day brunch (buffet) instead of their regular menu. Aside from Vegas, it's difficult to produce quality food for a buffet. All that said, we received food of less quality than Golden Corral but at double the price. I also sent my water and soda back several times due to food floating in the glass. It was an unfortunate experience but like most mothers, my wife simply enjoyed spending time with the family.
We’ve dined here before without any problems BUT Mother’s Day and a private children’s baptism party collided in terms of noise levels and table seating.
We dropped almost $400 to be crunched in a sideroom with apology of the chaos to avoid the running of the children and the noise level of the party.
Then another large party that was originally scheduled for basement was accommodated in the side room and then they moved the 20? people from behind us to the main room with the other party. This involved breaking down tables and chairs and they created a VERY narrow space for servers and patrons to use in this tight maze of tables built around us.
The focus of the evening was unfortunately turned to the chaos and the being almost completely blocked into this room.
Again, we’ve dined here before with wonderful service and delicious food.
If we would have known what terrible noise and table breakdown, set up and all the navigational interruptions at our table of “oh, excuse me” would be happening during
our ENTIRE dinner, we would have made a peaceful dinner for Mom at home.
Note to Mgmt - when you realized what was happening in and out of your control, you needed to stop and get a handle over all of it. This was a $4.00 experience not a $400.00 one.
Great atmosphere and setting, our waitress was a bit confused on the menu and the host was unusual...
Dinner was excellent and a special of the night of steak for 19.99 was very reasonable...we saw a deer, a racoon, and chipmunks outside while dining in.
What a beautiful venue! Great service, just as good food too. How great to have a class act place to dine close by. Some times you want a place to be special. This is that place.
