Joe's Crab Shack - Fairfax
My family said the sea food was good (had to ask for crab utensils) but since I’m allergic I got steak and fries. I asked for medium and got well done and the vegetables were over cooked, mushy.
There is a kids play section IN the dining room which I didn’t like, took away from the dining experience. Even when our boys were little we never let them run around in a restaurant disturbing patrons.
Good experience, food was good and service was great.
Because it was the weekend, we made a reservation, we were welcomed and seated promptly. Our friendly and knowledgeable waitress patiently answered questions about our selections. Appetizers are generous portions, and entrees also.
We're went for the Veteran's Day discount. We ordered an appetizer sampler, which arrived without any issues. When I received my surf & turf (steak & shrimp) order, and cut into my steak, I realized the waiter never asked how I wanted my steak cooked (rare). I received it medium rare.
The drink specials, the ones that come with a special cup, didn't have any prices listed in the menu, so the bill showed up with a $14 & $15 charge for drinks. Buyer beware - ask for the price.
Overall, the food was good, but it seems like the food quality has gone down since this restaurant opened several years ago.
Our waiter was awesome but unfortunately the food was subpar considering the price. The food was lukewarm when it came out and was not very appeasing.
The food was especially delicious. Jamal was attentive and friendly. We reserved a table through open table and our table was ready as promised. Overall an excellent visit to Joes Crab Shack.
Our food was bad and there was hair on one plate. Gross.
Enjoyable, delicious meal. My server was outstanding. I miss the entertainment that they use to provide.
Great service and waiter was amazing. We really appreciated the patience and excellent service we received. My girlfriend was very happy. We are actually going to be coming by next week
I went To Joe’s Crab Shack with a few friends and enjoyed the experience overall! Making reservations was very easy, a few clicks and I have the table. The host was very nice, even though I was late for my reservation. The server I had was incredibly sweet and nice, very helpful as well since it was my first time trying seafood! Food was absolutely delicious as well, I would go again!
Food was served hot and quick ! Service was great!
Not impressed with dirty floors as you walk in and the bugs and dirt on floor in corners . A good shine on the floors would be recommended 😁
Attentive service, food was good, no deviation from the expected brand experience
A+ but tables are stickyyy
Depending on what you get, I would recommend JCS. I had a steam bucket that was okay. The majority of the food wasn’t seasoned which was a bummer. My spouse had the catfish that was visibly waaaaay over battered with cornmeal which was quite disappointing and not tasty. My company and service by Jermaine made the afternoon enjoyable.
I come here a lot and for the most part service is alright but not this trip. For no one to have been in the restaurant service was horrible. And to make it worse, my peel and eat shrimp was undercooked. The waitress wasn’t that friendly either, and was more concerned with talking to her coworkers than offering great customer service.
The service was really slow- strange considering how few people were there and the crab was really salty. There are quite a few better places to go, unfortunately my kid has fond memories of this place from dining at other locations when she was younger.
The service was amazing I really enjoyed my birthday there our waiter was excellent which was an extra plus food was so delicious and the Birthday surprise was amazing thanks
From start to finish the service was terrible. From having a reservation and still having to wait 30 minutes for a table, to finally sitting down and then having to wait 20 minutes just to receive water, having a drink spilt on me with no apologies from the waitress, lengthy wait for food and then it seemed like the food was haphazardly put on the plate to finally not having silverware and asking the manager who then just slammed a bucket of utensils on the table with no apologies again my family and I will not be dining here again. Worst customer service and overall experience I’ve had at a restaurant
Good food and vibe all around
Food was bland, I got the King crab with old bay seasoning & it was bland no flavor. Spent $65 not including tip. Wasn’t worth it.
We arrived and were immediately taken to our table. After sitting at the table we waited 20 mins for the server to arrive to take a drink order. After getting our drinks we were told it would be a while before she got back so we should “sit tight”. The crab legs in our steam pot were over cooked and the meat was very tough.
Good food and at a reasonable price. The service was excellent also. My only complaint is that is noisy in the restaurant.
Outstanding service. The Shrimp in my steampot was a little over cooked and the crab legs lacked meat.
I set a reservation and walk strait in was seated. First glasses of beverages tasted like dishwater. They replaced and corrected. Food wasn't exceptional enough to go out of the way to return but I did enjoy the seasoning on the crab legs. Floors were dirty but I don't know what they could do about that.
The food was really good, crab was fresh, we had a great time, the kids were a little loud at the playground, but we love the playground for the kids to play!!! Overall we will be back!!!
Food is not what it used to be, very friendly waiter, but disappointed by everything else.
Please real nice service was very good my girls love the food. Will be back soon
Excellent sweet potato fries and cole slaw. Mediocre crab cake.
Joe's Crab Shack is a good spot for a seafood hit if you like cracking claws. We do. The kids play area was really loud this go around but if was a good loud. If you don't want to hear it then the bar area is on the opposite side. The outside seating is also open now.
We went to Joe's on a Friday night, it wasn't busy and we were seated right away. Our server was attentive and on the ball. The bar was a little slow, but the server and manager were on top of it. Even comping my glass of wine though it wasn't that delayed. We would definitely go back.
Our waiter went above and beyond to make sure that we had a great experience.
I took my entire family of ten to eat and my server treated us like we were the only people there. Very refreshing and too really take care of my disabled father-in-law was a treat. Thanks!
first time there! Sharon made our experience very welcoming . Even tho we came at 9pm, she treated like we were the first of the day.
The food wasn't all that for the price, the crab was good but corn was soggy and the sausage was yuck. My husband didn't care for his steak, service was good and friendly. This was our visit to this chain and I was expecting more for the bang. I was disappointed:(
We ate at Joe's Crab Shack at 4:00 pm on Saturday. It was not many people in the restaurant.
When we got our food we didn't get the side of fries that we ordered. We had to ask for ketchup, garlic butter and silverware. It took more than 5 minutes to get everything. In the meantime we could not eat our food. I hate to eat food that isn't hot. But we had no choice.
I specifically ordered garlic butter on my steamed shrimp and also ordered garlic butter on the side. I got neither. It was not cooked in garlic butter and they brought me a garlic broth on the side. Then I asked to just bring me garlic in a separate container and melted butter in a separate container. They took a long time and finally brought me garlic butter (mixed together - not separate). Then a few minutes later I got more garlic broth.
The food just doesn't have much taste and the service is awful. We will not be back.
We’ve been enjoying Joe’s for many years. While it’s never been great food it’s worked well when the group has a hankering for crab legs. The last couple of visits have been less enjoyable as the food quality has declined while prices seem to have increased. Last visit was really disappointing. Crab that was overly salty, corn that was mushy and frozen (and served ice cold TWICE) and a price tag that ended up to be almost $175 with tip for 4 people (that’s right - and no alcohol!!). While the service was good and our server apologetic, Joe’s just isn’t worth it anymore. Sorry.
The waiter was good. The food was very good. The noise made it the place pretty miserable. They have an indoor playground but there's no wall between the eating area and the playground. On the day of our visit there were several children screaming at the top of their lungs. We were unable to have a conversation and we were not near the kids. On the way out I mentioned it to some waiters They rolled their eyes and said that was a common complaint. It would have been great if it wasn't for that.
The drinks here were terrible. Most of them were watered down. I returned my Bloody Mary because it was just tomato juice. Stick to beer and wine.
The food itself was good! Although the corn cake out cold and they got my order wrong.
I think this place could be great. Maybe it was an off day? Or, maybe the management is lacking.
Good steamed seafood. My only complaint is with the corn in the steam basket...very mushy. Too bad...it's corn season, afterall!!
Terrible service! I am not sure what happened, but it seemed like all of the staff had quit suddenly. We were seated promptly, and drink orders were taken, but looking around 3 of 6 tables hadn't been cleared of old dishes in our area (and they were never cleared during our time there!). Our appetizers took 45 minutes to come out (steamed shrimp, cooks in 5 minutes), and dinner didn't come out until 45 minutes after that! When dinner did come, the poor server tried to put her tray on the (uncleared) table behind us, balanced it poorly, and one whole dinner crashed to the floor, breaking the dishes and ruining the crab legs.
In addition, one whole meal was MISSING from the tray. 10 minutes later we had to ask the manager for our missing meal. When the food did arrive, it was very tasty, but not worth 90 minutes of total wait time and the feeling that we - and the tables all around us - had been totally neglected. The restaurant wasn't even that busy...very sad.
