Management & staff are all so friendly here. It’s a perfect combo of a neighborhood bar feel in an upscale , yet unpretentious restaurant. Happy hour deals are the best in the city, fairly large menu. Spicy tuna hanabi is my fav.

Friendly service. Great atmosphere. Skewers were VERY small portions. Sushi was disappointing. Convenient for hotel guests but lots of other great options in the city for sushi.
Birthday dinner was absolutely perfect
Food was amazing having small plates and being able to try everything. We never really saw our server but another server was helping us more than our original server so we tipped him more instead of our server. Don’t know if he was more busy with other tables or what but overall the experience was really really good.
The food was amazing. We came to Chicago for my birthday and went on a date Saturday night. The atmosphere was great and the live DJ played really good music.

Walked by this place at least a dozen times before finally giving it a try. The food was exceptional! You definitely need the Wagyu sliders. The sushi was extremely fresh and tasty, my friend and I ordered 3 rolls plus 2 apps because everything was so good. Drinks were unique and refreshing. Definitely go for happy hour!
This visit to Katana fell short of my expectations.
This was my 4th or 5th visit and I've always had an amazing experience before, but this time was a disappointment. I went with my wife to celebrate her birthday. It was the Sunday of the NBA All-Stars weekend, so I guess it'd been busier than usual because right when we were seated our server told us that many of our favorite dishes were all sold out: wagyu gyoza, pork belly, sea bass, and black cod! Those are dishes we went specifically to enjoy, and they were out of all four!! They were also out of crab legs (though didn't plan on getting those). As we were getting ready to order, they ran out of another two dishes: jumbo shrimp, and kobe beef skewers. Both dishes we were about to order since they didn't have our favorites!
I understand that it was a very busy weekend, but that is poor management to not be better prepared. To run out of 7 of their best dishes at the same time?! That's not acceptable.
The rest of the food was fine, though not what we went for. Very good service, as usual. I know this is likely a one-off bad experience, far short of the other times we've visited. But the bad taste of this experience still lingers.
Never give reviews. But pretty awful service. It was a Sunday night with barely anyone else there and it was extremely poor service.
The food was really good! The service was ok, the only issue we had was the food came out in random order , we missed some items we had to ask for again and we ended up telling them to take something off the bill that never came out. We ordered miso soup and the soup came out last we wanted to enjoy the soup with sushi rice however that never made it. What we did have an opportunity to taste Was really enjoyable.
Service was not good. Food was over priced, way better sushi in the city for your money. Everything seemed unorganized , soup came out before our drinks. Never received Brussels sprout chips, so we took them off the bill. Over all very disappointed in celebrating my anniversary here. Won’t be back.
Excellent food and service very satisfied.
Service was good to start but got progressively worse. Total dining time for two took three hours. The food was average for the price. Took waitress thirty minutes to collect my check and then she waited on four tables before cashing it out making us late for our next plans.
Amazing food, but be prepared to drop a little cash. Mixed drinks average $15. But, the staff is very accommodating and bend over backwards to make you enjoy your experience.

Food was great once it arrived but getting the rest of it took so long that our rice dish became so cold. (Valentine effect I guess). Also we kept getting the wrong order being sent to our table. To the manager who kept pacing back remember, all patrons are there for a reason, do not spoil it.
The service was terrible from the drink at the bar to our table service. No soy sauce available. Waitress was MIA half the time. Sushi was nothing special and rolls were very small. I had heard such good things and was disappointed and I am a huge Japanese food fan.

The ambiance has a very cool feeling when you walk in. However, the food was blackened and was not good. Not everything was like that, the sushi rolls were good, but expensive for what you received.
Katana was amazing! The staff mad it such a great experience. We were celebrating our 30th anniversary and they added a number of touches to make it special. We will be back again in the future and can’t wait to dine again there!
We went for Restaurant Week and each of us three got the bento box. I chose the salmon with my colleague and our other colleague got the beef bento. Brussels chips are to die for-delicious! Salmon was awesome and beef was great as well. Now, the service: it’s restaurant week and two servers? I booked the reservation stating it was a birthday! The other table received mochi dessert with sparklers. My birthday guests got zippo!! Miso soup was supposed to be included and she forgot it. She forgot the drinks until halfway through the meal!! We were so late returning to the office we had to ask for to-go for the rest of our meals. We will not be returning with such poor service which is a shame because the food was good.
