La Cantina at Vidanta Riviera Maya
Great food and outside seating was great. Christian was our waiter and he was fantastic and attentive to our needs. Overall it was great.
La Cantina is a very nice place to eat with great food at reasonable prices
Excellent food and most excellent service by Socrates!
Good food, a bit overpriced. Music was much too loud, couldn’t hold a dinner conversation over it. Service was good.
Didn’t care for the music videos. Kind of loud too. They did turn the volume down eventually which helped
The food & margarita’s were delicious. Christian our waiter was excellent!
The staff was attentive. When we first arrived I could not hear the waiter above the music level. After a few complaints from clients the music was turned down to a reasonable level.
Loved the place. Our server socritese was fabulous. We loved his cultural explanation of the roof and the tequila and his personal stories.
Socrates our waiter was fantastic. He was very knowledgeable and truly cared. Definitely will encourage more people to go there and ask for Socrates. Food was also AMAZING!!!
We did the tequila tasting earlier in the day and decided to have dinner later that evening. The service, food and drinks were excellent. The only rub, the black walls around the room from earlier in the day were actually walls of tv's featuring music videos at volume levels we thought better suited for a lesser setting. We could talk and hear each other but we did have to listen intently to our server. 2 notches down on volume and we could have gotten past the videos. Server was happy to answer all our questions and made several recommendations including a tequila tasting not on the menu! Good times and a great tequila offering!
The music was very off putting. We didn’t enjoy the club music. It was loud, repetitive and boring and ruined a perfectly wonderful spot. AND we were outside! I would never sit inside and be tormented by the large tv screens and even louder music. It is so sad because the location is amazing and the food delicious, but we will not go back. We are not 20 something years old and are looking for a more relaxing environment.
Our server was amazing. He made awesome recommendations. The appetizer with the beans, shredded beef, and dried beef was fantastic! The music was a bit loud, but otherwise was a great meal!
Great service ,great food very tasty and delicious
Excellent meal and great service, enjoy the atmosphere and the location
Best guacamole and fajitas we've ever had! Very flavorful! Server (I believe his name was Socrates) was attentive and informative about the food served. We will definitely be back next year when we go to Vidanta at Riviera Maya!
It was so cold in the restaurant. I noticed quite a few tables of people requested to be moved from one area to another. My husband an I switched seats at our table to no avail. When our food came out on those plates that should have been hot and sizzling, our food was cold. I ordered the enchiladas and he ordered the fajitas. Cold, cold, cold, just like the air conditioning in the restaurant. I sent mine back to be heated up. My husband did not as he feels bad if he complains. After 20 minutes, my dinner came back. It was a new dinner and was exactly like it should have been the first time. It was delicious. However, it was still too cold in the restaurant to eat in comfort. We finally finished and took the remainder of our wine out on the patio to finish.
Miguel was our waiter and he was fantastic. The food dishes were also very good. My favorite was the ice cream mixed with tequila!
Was not impressed with the food. The lobster tacos fell apart you could not even eat them. The shrimp fajitas were pretty much just huge pieces of onion.
The food and service were good. We sat outdoors which we would have enjoyed much more without the loud technopop music. We almost requested to be moved back indoors due to the annoyance of the music.
This is one of the best restaurants on the Vidanta property. Note that this high end authentic Mexican cuisine, not a Taco Bell.
Lugar muy a gusto, excelente servicio, calidad excelente de alimentos, excelente servicio
Muy bonito. Muy rica comida. Se siente el orgullo mexicano de nuestros saberes y artesanía.
Best meal on property.... excellent service! Food was absolutely delicious and everyone loved it!
Worst food ever
Su comida muy rica pero el trato deja mucho que desear
This is a new restaurant at Vidanta Riviera Maya. The atmosphere was quiet and lovely and our waiter was excellent. The food was average; my husband ordered a steak and found it a little tough and I had a vegetarian option, tacos, that were average. Our waiter was attentive and gave our children, celebrating their engagement, a special dessert.
Food was typical Mexican fare. Our server Christian was fantastic! Fajitas were really tasty. And plentiful. We also had the tortilla soup, different from what I have had it was a tomato based soup. Pleasant but could have been spicer! American bland! Atmosphere was fun, a lot of old disco music, would rather have had Mexican music!
Completely delicious food, beautifully presented by knowledgeable and friendly staff.
Amazing choice and lovely decor.
The ambience is very nice and the service was excellent. I’m sure the food was good, however it wasn’t what our family likes. My understanding is that it is authentic Mexican cuisine and we must like more of an American version. Our tastes should not reflect on the restaurant doing what it is intended to do.
Loved our server and the food was good although like everything at this resort it takes a while! Seating was odd as they sat us (6 people) at a large table with very small bench seats. The restaurant was beautiful but it was odd that there were televisions displaying music videos and then a soccer game on the walls of the restaurant making conversation difficult at times. Definitely would not recommend eating here if you are looking for somewhere quiet or romantic.
Very nice ambiance. Great for couples or family. Great service and good food.
We had the chicken flautas here, which were excellent. Don’t get them back in the States very often. Very solicitous service at this location, and in fact at all of the restaurants on this for Vidanta property.
The one complaint we had was we didn’t order any appetizers. A few minutes later our waiter came over, said the chef made a mistake and made 1 too many shrimp appetizers. He asked if we wanted it. We thought he was giving it to us but then charged it to our bill. Also, it was supposed to have 8 shrimp but it only had 6 (as he described it before we declined the appetizer). We were not pleased.
We love Vidanta and this restaurant is a great addition but we didn’t love the food. I wish they would focus on the basics and have items that are a bit more basic. Sometimes it seems they focus too much on the extras and forget about what’s important.
The food was just Meh! You have to have reservations for this restaurant because it’s very small and intimate. I liked the ambiance of the place but the food didn’t taste authentic at all. Yuk. I had the enchiladas and I was not empress. I would probably skip this restaurant from now on.
Noise level is way too high as they have music videos and music going on. We were looking for a “romantic” place to celebrate our 50th wedding anniversary but this was not it. Our server worked very hard but there were too many customers and not enough waiters. My husband had the pork shank and it was pretty much tasteless. I had the catch of the day and it was delicious.
Was not what I expected. Way too loud, more like a NYC sports bar than a Mexican Resort Mexican Food Cantina. I thought the food was great, the ambiance not so much.
The service was great. The food was okay... we got the lobster tacos and they were not great, but the chicken taquitos were yummy! Their salsas as very spicy (which I like). They do let you know they are spicy and give you tips on what to eat them with and how they are made.
Yummy drinks, cute place, music playing, music videos playing that don’t go along with the music playing, service was amazing, view is breathtaking!
I recommend trying it - but I don’t think kids should go as it is kind of small. We dined there one night that two families with loud, crying children went and it made it less special as it was mostly parents yelling at their kids to stop crying. Everyone in the place was annoyed.
It is very cute and perfect for date night as large groups are not easily accommodated. Reservations recommended as it is hard to get into last minute!
Food is hit and miss, atmosphere is noisy sports bar and service was poor.
