La Luna: delicious, fun, great service, beautiful space, vibrant 'hood!
Not a big menu but what we had was good. Nice offering of drinks as well. Perfect before a show at Thaila Hall
It’s was our father’s birthday dinner. We let them know and we expected a dessert maybe a candle not looking for free but just the typical. He got his “birthday dessert” mid dinner. We thought it was a little off but he carried on. Later we see them serve a nice dessert with a candle and clapping? Fun times. I had to explain to our parents those guests brought their own candle. It’s the details that count and we were kinda disappointed.
The whole experience was great. The only negative was the paella. It was okay but overcooked. The tacos were amazing, as were the staff and drinks. We'll definitely go back.
Service was great. I wish I remembered our servers name but she was amazing. Food is basic nothing to write home about it is very much a one and done type of restaurant.
Went to brunch last Sunday. Could not be more pleased. Sat at the bar and got awesome service. Samantha, the hefe, made a special point of saying hello and making me feel welcome. Susanne was all over the place taking great care of her guests.
The waitress was very nice as always. We really liked the tacos and drinks. Thanks for a good night.
The food was a lot better this time, drinks were great as always, but there is still room for improvement in regards to service. They are a little forgetful.
Randomly stopped by on Tuesday. Boy am I glad I did. What a cool venue. It was happy hour and I took advantage of Taco Tuesday. Best pork tacos on the planet. Miguel provided expert service. Sam, Samantha, the owner is the picture of grace, charm, and hospitality.
La Luna has gotten progressively worse since they opened. They started off with an AMAZING menu and continue to slash things that were delicious and add odd choices. They got rid of all their best tacos except one and keep changing their appetizers. Their brunch was amazing but the quality and flavors went way down most recently. GO BACK TO WHAT YOU DID WHEN YOU OPENED!!!! We raved about them and went constantly whenU they first opened and now not sure if we will go back.

Great Vibe, simple menu, good food, margaritas with a heavy dose of tequila... yum!
My lactose intolerance kept me from giving more stars.
Of the new additions to Pilsen, La Luna one of my favorites. The only issue has to be the inconsistency of the menu. Something that you may love today will simply be off the menu the next time you come in. If you ask about it, the servers have no idea what you are talking about. This happened to me twice, specifically with the bone marrow elote and the panella cheese. I wouldn't call it a destination restaurant and it's not a consistent local favorite either. Hopefully they will find their voice and stabilize their menu.
That being said, I'm always happy with the food and service. It's not meant to be a rushed, quick meal. They completed dinner service and drinks for my group of four in about an hour this Tuesday. To me it felt natural and perfectly timed. The limited food options that they do offer are delicious. The elote (even without the bone marrow) is one of my favorite elotes I've ever had. The restaurant has been around for about 3 months and I've been 5 times. Each time was great. I hope they expand the menu a bit and finalize it.
For brunch I had the menudo which was excellent. The other items on the brunch menu were pretty standard. It is worth visiting La Luna and the interesting neighborhood.
They unfortunately shortened the menu, but everyone in our group was able to find something they loved. If you come on a Tuesday between 5 and 7 they have a dozen tacos for $20, $4 modelos, and $8 margaritas. The Bone Marrow elote is my favorite dish so far. Really looking forward to trying the paella.
Great food and service.
Drinks, food, service are all fantastic. This is one of my all time fav spots in the city now.
Loved the ambiance and the food was phenomenal. Service was excellence Nd would return again when visiting Chicago.
The meat was undercooked and flavorless
However, the appetizers, drinks, and deserts were fantastic!
Great ambiance too.
Love this place in Pilsen! The food was amazing, the drinks are delicious, & we really enjoyed the atmosphere! Will definitely be coming here regularly!
The food was amazing!
The guacamole was delish and plentiful. Noise was pretty loud but nice ambience overall.
Once we received the food it was good. We ordered two dishes and were told it would take awhile because if the dish. No prob. It gave us time to visit. The one dish, paella came out about 20 minutes or so. It was good. After another 20 minutes we asked to check in the other order and asked if the order was placed. After another 15 or so minutes the second dish came out with apologies and an offer of free drinks. Our reservation was for 4:30 so it wasn’t busy. Both dishes tasted good.
Happy hour was great though the menu is somewhat limited!
I’ve dined at La Luna for both dinner and brunch. The food is delicious and the drinks are innovative! The ambiance is fresh and fun and great for both small and larger groups. The owner Samantha is very sweet attentive to her patrons! I would highly recommend!
Unfortunately I can't remember my waiter's name. Needless to say, I'm not a fan. He almost ruined the experience for us. The food, ambiance and vibe were truly amazing for us. This was a great place. Everything was so fresh and flavorful. The music was great, decor and flow was all a vibe. Did have a few concerns though-- they ran out of the carne asada tabla. I'd say it was 9p.. on a Friday. Why are you running out of food? Also, they apparently ran out of limes. Margaritas & tacos are just different with lemons. About this waiter. He was very curt. At first it was something we let slide-- it was busy, maybe he had a bad day-- but it was consistently bad. He even walked away from us once because we took too long to decide our replacement dish (he told us they ran out of the carne asada tabla and expected us to think of something right away). He was clearly bothered by us, despite the nice bill we were racking up. He really didn't want to play nice. I was shocked. Never have been treated so rude before at a restaurant. Like I said, the quality of the food and the vibe and the overall company I shared kinda made up for his attitude, but I just couldn't shake it. He bothered me-- thus the 4 stars.
The Al Pastor tacos had a bit too much cartilage to be enjoyable for me personally but the seasoning and marinade were otherwise on point. The space is cool, food was delicious, service was fairly quick. The bar downstairs is cool but small. Give La Luna a visit!
Great cocktails. The restaurant has very beautiful decor. Server guided us with details on the appetizers and tacos. Can't wait to go back.
Nice, clean restaurant that adds a slightly modern take on the average Mexican eatery found in Pilsen. Small menu, which is great, as it adds more focus to dishes available. Despite that, there was nothing unique or incredible. The setting feels great and sets up the food nicely but the food won’t blow you away, so expect simple dishes that won’t introduce anything new.
Everything was delicious from the apps, the drinks and the tacos.
Tacos come out in platters which is nice for big groups. Salsa and guac were very good! I recommend the Al pastor and Pescado tacos. Elotes was very good too!
Agua Chile had no flavor and needed seasoning. Hamachi and elote were really good.
I think they are still on a bit of a learning curve being such a new restaurant but there were a few things that keep it from being less than stellar. It took our server more than 15 minutes to bring us our drinks and take our food order. Not a huge deal as they were fairly busy and it was a Saturday night. Only three of the tacos were something I would order again but specifically the cochinita pibil was SO GOOD. We did order an appetizer that came out after the food and there was supposed to be shrimp and octopus but there was only shrimp, the waiter did not tell us there was no octopus so we were unsure whether it was not available or they simply forgot. I ordered El Diablito and it was delicious, a bit strong but not overwhelming.
Cocktails were fantastic. Ambiance is lovely (beautiful natural light, clever green wall installation). Service wasn't great. Staff seemed frazzled and we received the preface more than once "sorry, we're really busy." It was a Tuesday and I imagine they were possible understaffed.
Was never asked "have you been here before" or even told about how we should course things out (ie. plates to share or even any recommendations). There was no excitement about the food. Our server seemed eager to get us in and out.
All of the drinks were brought except for one and we were told after the fact (when everyone else received their drink) that the original drink order was not available for the other person (not a biggie but you'd think as drinks were being made we could have been informed BEFORE 3/4 of the order was delivered).
Same thing with our food order. Orders placed and then guess what....no ribeye. So we placed an order for more tacos (all come out together so if you have a large group, you better know exactly what tacos you ordered and what they should look like.)
You receive chips when you arrive which is nice. Ordered guacamole. Guess it doesn't come with chips?
It's a little weird that it's market price. Market price for guacamole? Good for them!
I recognize that new restaurants have kinks to work out. Totally get it. But for a restaurant in Pilsen to have ok tacos and mediocre service, I'd rather go down the street for taco and go to Green Room afterwards for a cocktail. Or maybe, maybe...I would give the bar at La Luna a try but just for a drink. Drinks rocked! Ambience rocked. Service needs some TLC.
So the service at this place was just fine. The ambience was really nice also. I didn't favor the food much, I feel like they need to upgrade that pretty soon. The drinks were also so and so. Overall it's not a bad little place but I'm not going to be rushing back anytime soon.
Fodd was great but the drinks were weark and watered down tasting. We were a group of 6 each tryingsomething differnet and all tasted watery????
La Luna has only been open for a couple of weeks. I think the idea is good. Food quality needs some improvement.
gave it a second
