La Mar Cebicheria Peruana
Ahi tuna tataki, seasonal greens, radish, daikon, orange, passion fruit dressing and toasted sesame seeds
Our hostess, Laura, was great, professional and friendly. It made the whole experience so much more enjoyable!
Love this place!
Most beautiful restaurant in SF.
Been here several times and it’s always great!!
Food is so creative 😍
We were late and the host person was really rude, they should understand that pandemic rules are different. They had a lot of tables too that were open and apparently don't really know what they are doing. I tried to be nice to the server by leaving a large tip and then when I was in the restroom he told my date, while I was gone, that we were violating some law about staying in a restaurant too long. So I wish I could have taken back the extra big tip. And again, lots of open tables really disappointing. I can see going back and having a better experience as far as the host and server, I hope others there are better.
Amazing experience! I'm Peruvian and was 1000% satisfied with La Mar
The server felt like he was just trying to get us to buy more food for a larger tip. When I ordered another drink, he brought another round that had not been requested by others at our table. We ordered empanadas for the kids, but he didn't mention there is a spicy sauce on it -- so they didn't eat them. We then had to order them the pinchos. The chicken ones were not even breast meat. It was fatty and not great and over priced. My sister in law ask for a fish one for her son which was $26 for just one skewer of salmon and the server never mentioned it would twice the price. It was way overpriced and the server was not helpful in calling out obvious mentions. I asked for some more plantain chips that came out as complimentary only to find a $5 charge for the extra ask which he never mentioned. The tip was automatically added so there was no way to even given a lesser tip. All in all the ambiance is great, but the service was poor and the food is good but not great or justified for the price.
The staff made us safe by giving brief reminder regarding the safety guidelines of the COVID-19 which made us reassured how they take it seriously. They even take your temperature!
We enjoyed the time and the view was excellent along with the food, I could have given 5 stars if only the food was not too spicy, I could have a little heads up from the server!
Otherwise, we highly recommend the place to dine !
We were not disappointed with overall dining experience!
Cebiche served without chips. cocktails sounded better than they actually tasted and the waiter quickly grabbed my jalapeño ice away from me after I finished my cocktail....I wanted to crunch on the ice a little bit.
It was a Tuesday night, outdoor back patio was full, and my plate was taken before I was finished with my last bite. We had a birthday to celebrate and waiter brought the check before the birthday cake and didnt offer us coffee. So I guess they wanted to turn the table, but for $500 for the 4 of us, they should have been more gracious.
Food was good, interesting menu. Salmon on greens was succulent and sweet. Shrimp dish was amazing, my catch of the day Halibut was boring compared to those. Empenadas were scrumptious- get the sample platter and try them all. And cebiche was delish in all flavors- the delivered on food.
Food and atmosphere were both good. Glad to be able to go out.
We had the rice with prawns (gigantic) and it mimicked a Spanish paella -- scrumptious. We also shared the chicken empanadas which were equally delicious. The service is attentive, temperatures taken at check-in.
Bring a coat -- it gets cold outside!
Excellent choice for outdoor dining. Patio shaded and comfortable, with great view of Bay. Good seafood.
Great place and food, but portions are relatiely small for the price.
Go! Flavor explosion.
Today My wife and I visited the Restaurant and we aren’t disappointed, the place is clean, all the staff were very attentive and the food is as always delicious. We really enjoyed our waterfront table, our server Jaqueline did a great job explaining the menu and she took great care of us. We will be back.
We went to check out La Mar for a 4th of July Brunch. Our Server Jasmin was the best. Attentive, always around, and extremely knowledgeable about the cuisine. Best Taro Chips with Pisco Sours. Recommend the Roquitas!!! La Mar has taken every precaution for Covid19. Menu can be downloaded on your Smartphone, separated tables. Highly recommended.
Friendly staff, great views and amazing food! Highly recommended
great venue and amiable service, however food was underwhelming at best. Tapas style orders of empanadas (beef was decent), ceviche (no punch, uninteresting), dungeness crab (beautiful presentation, unimpressive flavor), and octopus (totally bland sauce).
The food was fantastic, as always. Service was slow, but due to Wuhan virus restrictions, it was understandable! Always a pleasure to dine on the outside water front. Keep up the good work!
Great COVID-19 se-up with QR code menus. The food was excellent and it was nice to have a calm ambience on the waterfront with some great food.
La mar is always a personal favorite. Even during COVID, they didn't cease to amaze me. They took the right precautions and even took our temperature! I would recommend anyone who wants a pleasant and safe dining experience!
Delicious food! The empanadas were amazing! It’s expensive but worth every penny I paid 😊. Will definitely come back!
Disappointed that no one mentioned our celebrating our 25th Anniversary. They do a good job of social distancing so it was a relaxing dining experience.
First time dining out in SF since the reopening post-pandemic. La Mar was our choice. Love it. Ceviche. Lomo Saltado. Pisco sours.
Upon entering the restaurant, the welcoming by the hostess was less than optimal. We were informed that a reservation was required and that 'we are booked for the entire evening.' We remain understanding given the COVID19 social distancing protocols in place, but we were surprised by the lack of a welcoming vibe made by the hostess. Further digging thanks to OpenTable led us to discover 3 spots were available for the remainder of the evening. There was a disconnect in information and hospitality. Keep in mind we did not waltz in assuming we owned the establishment, but simply to ask if there was the possibility of having dinner. We were seated at the reservation time of 8:30. Her attitude was different when I, the female of the group approached her. The experience was enjoyable as the night progressed, but being pushed away with a less than sincere apology was a surprise.
I do not usually write bad reviews. Had been here before pre-Covid and the views of the bay are great. The food is a bit over-priced, but with child care hard to come by my wife and I left our 18 month old at home for a date night out. Out reservation was for 8:30. We arrived and the staff unapologetically said they were behind. We got a cocktail and waited patiently. At 8:50 they called us and directed to the outdoor seating on the street. When we asked if we could wait for the back with bay views, they rudely and abruptly said no. My plea that this was one of our only nights out without our child fell on deaf ears. They sat us down and quickly left. We asked for tap water and they brought us sparkling. I guess they unlearned customer service during the COVID shutdown. I get it that times are crazy and we should all be patient. But this wasn’t COVID related. They were mean, we felt like a number and for the price we decided it wasn’t worth it. We got an Uber to one of our favorite italian spots (which we should’ve started with) inNorth Beach - Sodinis— and they stayed open late for us and gave us a free round of drinks. Next time we are going to skip this first step.
Great cocktails and service was excellent; food was good but could be more inspired.
The dinner was superburb but we arrived at
Way too overpriced. I will never go back. And will not recommend it to anyone. 6 watery cocktails, 4 appetizer/small plates and 1 desert turned out to be $290 tip included. And the food was average if not below average. Everything was premade and ready to go just like fastfood. We placed our orders the server walked back and literally grabbed and brought them. $290 for premade average food? What are they thinking? Looks like they think they are the only victims of covid-19!! NO.
Love the space and the service.
Thank you for being open. Your food and service is always the best.
Unfortunately due to this pandemic, restrictions and workflow of the restaurants
is not optimal as in normal times.
I love your restaurant. I will be back after all this crazy pandemic stuff is over.
My first time at La Mar was exceptional. The outdoor patio seating was socially spaced and very comfortable with overhead heaters. I had the 'Experience ', small tastings of all their best offerings. Every bite exceeded my expectations. Flavors were beautifully balanced and unique. I also enjoyed the spicy El Volcan cocktail. I will definitely return on my next trip to SF!!!
La Mar is by far our best restaurant in SF.
We just get married that day and we went there to celebrate.
Best lunch we could have.
They surprised us with a dessert (tres leches) with a congrats note in chocolate!!
Thank you ♥️
Delicious empanadas, pisco sours, mains. attentive service. Lovely seating by the water.
The patio dining is perfect for brunch, the service is great and the food yummy.
Happy to see La Mar open, love their tiradito
Great job handling customers with the new Covid restrictions. It was so nice to eat out at a nice restaurant again!
Took my father to dine there for Father’s Day. We ordered the La Mar Experience which is a four course tasting menu. We had barely gotten into our second course when the main entree came out. When I mentioned this to our server she said she could keep it in the heat lamp...instead of remaking it to order and especially with COVID-19 going on at the moment. I understand there is a two hour limit but to have the third course of a four course meal come out 30 minutes into the dinner... And promptly at 7 PM we were asked to leave. I took my cold piece of fish home because it was cold by the time I was done with the second course. I was incredibly disappointed. La Mar used to be my favorite SF restaurant. It’s a shame service has gone WAAAAY down. This Peruvian won’t be back. The food was good but it’s no excuse for bad service.
Oh and the piece of fish that I took home...first someone said they would bring me a box (fine) but then the server took it and brought it back in a bag. When I looked inside the bag it was sideways so everything was dripping...
We came here for Father’s Day lunch. It’s one of our favorite :)
We really enjoyed our evening at La Mar. Everyone was very friendly, the food and drinks were delicious- lots of great flavors. The setting was very cute. Totally recommend It for a date night or dinner with friends.
The food was amazing !!!
I loved my first dining experience out (since sheltering in place) at LaMar. The food was so beyond delicious. The staff was friendly and felt safe being there.
