La Notte Ristorante Italiano - Oak Park
We will be back! Dined on a Sunday night and the service was outstanding. Chef Giovanni came to our table and was very pleasant and helpful. We ordered the salmon roll appetizer - smoked salmon wrapped around cream cheese and asparagus. It was delicious! I had the mussels and shrimp in squid ink pasta with marinara. The sauce and the pasta was perfect! About 8 mussels and 5-6 shrimp, just the right amount in my opinion. Only complaint was that a couple of the mussels were not hot and the shrimp was a bit overcooked. Nevertheless, the disco was delicious and ia ate every bite! My wife had the clams and linguini in white wine sauce but substituted the squid ink fettuccine for the linguini. Her dish was also delicious! One more thing we thoroughly enjoy about La Notte is that they have a reasonably priced wine list with some very good wines, always a special feature for us.
I like La Notte. To me, it feels very "old school". The owner and his son recognize most of the patrons and chat with everyone. It's nice. I imagine some people might not enjoy that, but I do.
Fantastic as always - all dishes were excellent. Service wax exceptional. Always friendly with a positive vibe. It’s an hour drive for us to get there but well worth the trip.
Food was very good. Service was slow on the night we ate at restaurant. Not conversation friendly.
The food here is better than what I ate while in Tuscany. No kidding. Chef Giovanni is consistent. I think it's a treasure of a restaurant. I highly recommend it.
Would definitely recommend this place.
Owner was welcoming and hospitable. Delicious, homemade food! Felt treated as if we were family. Definitely returning!
We had a very fussy infant in our party, and the entire staff was very accommodating and welcoming. The food was delightful! Would definitely go back and recommend.
Fantastic in every way.
The clam chowder is ridiculously good. Everything is fresh. Service is exactly what you would want from a small local restaurant. We will be back and already looking forward to it.
There are too many tables in this space. The noise level is so high that you can’t hear the person next to you.
The service is always so good when coming from the owners (chef and his son) but otherwise not good at all. We were never told of any specials by our server, but later heard the owner/son telling another table of many. Our loss. Water was slow to be refilled. A second round of drinks were not offered by our server, but the owner did check to see if we needed more.
Easy to reach due to its location near 290, wonderful ambiance and feel of a family-owned restaurant. The menu is very broad, and the owner takes great pains to personally engage with every table. If you want something done "special" or if you want something that is not on the menu, just ask. The food is superb. Fresh ingredients expertly prepared. Portion sizes are ideal. The appetizers were excellent. Love this place and will be making it a regular stop. Fish (de-boned and filleted table side) and chicken dishes were wonderful. Cioppino appetizer was best we've every had. Highly recommended.
Consistently the best Italian food in and around oak park. Service is always top notch.
Great to know the owner and get his real hands-on service. His “No Menu” menu is great: he’ll mix and match everything on the menu to your taste. Always a great time!
La Notte is one of our favorites. The food is delicious, authentic, and made to order. Service is usually attentive but server seemed preoccupied this particular evening. My only complaint as always is the noise level.
Great local place to dine.
Nice and cozy environment on a cold, blistery evening. Baked Clams were awesome, salad fresh and delicious balsamic dressing. I had the pumpkin ravioli which was a special for the evening, very delicious. My husband had the Bolognese, and didn't even give me a bite, so I'm guessing, was delicious too. All the staff was interactive with us. Very friendly environment. We enjoyed it very much.
Second time I’ve been there. First time since it was opened. I absolutely love the service and the friendly family owned/locally owned atmosphere. The food is fantastic, but portions were small. The portions were very compatible with the price, however. The noise level was uncomfortable. The service and family atmosphere made it forgivable.
Overall, I highly recommend it as a great place for my Oak Park neighbors. I regret not frequenting the place nor often.
Food and service are excellent. Nice family run business. They make you feel so welcome.
Great food. Giovanni made us feel like family and the food was better than mom's. Dont tell mom.
Food was fine but not memorable. Service was ok. Was expecting more for the price point.
They were so nice and kind. The owner came and talked with us. Daniel our waiter was amazing. The hostess was so sweet. Will come back again. Thank you
La Notte is my favorite Italian spot! Give it a try!
As always, we had excellent food at La Notte. The owner is friendly and gracious, with lots of good suggestions. We tried the carpaccio on his suggestion, and it was fantastic.
Was great, will return to try more menu items.
The Chef’s Special Carbonara was our new favorite. Absolutely perfect! We always have a delicious meal and a wonderful time here.
Excellent restaurant in the heart of downtown Oak Park. My husband I had the minestrone soup, delicious. Our main entrees were fettuccine alfredo and the skirt steak. Everything was so good!
Great food but poor service. Waiter took our order then came back two times to ask what we had ordered after 20-25 minutes. Full dinner took about 2 hours
This is a truly special place! The food is always delicious and they make you feel like family.
Always good. Food cooked to order. Good, reasonable wine list.
Fantastic food! Quaint atmosphere, relaxing. Food tastes amazing. Have been several times, one of our favorites!
Always a fab meal and great service. Only complaint is level of noise
First time I went, it was FABULOUS. This time, mixed. The minestrone soup came lukewarm and we had to ask for grated parmesan for the top. For some reason, the waiter thought I didn't want my wine til the main course came. I didn't know he'd asked me. In all fairness, we were seated outside and it was a bit hard to hear. In the end, he did not charge me for the wine. The veal Marsala was delicious, although we seemed to wait a long time for it and ultimately had to ask about it. The staff was courteous and accommodating, once asked.
Fantastic food. Charming service.
Incredible experience, fantastic food and service.
La Notte is always amazing, you are missing out if you have never eaten here. The owner Giovanni and his son Francisco are amazing. Their menu is outstanding and , they will even cook something for you that’s on the menu if you ask them.
Yes, the service is friendly and prompt. And yes, the fresh warm bread is very good. And it’s really got a warm ambiance and feels like a neighborhood gem. But the entree dishes, however, are nothing to “write home about.” I had the farfalle con broccoli (a bit too al dente, with overdone garlic) and my partner had the eggplant parmigiana with spaghetti marinara (on the sweet side). So, we might return, but it won’t be the regular spot I was hoping for.
Owner and son were two man entertainment team. Wonderful meal and great service.
Giovanni and Francesco are amazing!! I absolutely love this place... The food is awesome and the company is even better!!
It's a lovely place especially during the summer. The open air is wonderful to experience.
