The Customer Service was EXCELLENT!! I made a reservation for my wife’s birthday and even though I arrived late the reservation was still honored. We were sat in a corner seat initially but I came for the wonderful view of the SW Wharf (which we couldn’t see from those seats). I expressed this to the hostess and she advised that there would be a wait for a seat by the window BUT she gave us 2 free drink tickets to the bar and said she’d come get us when the table was ready. Before our dunks were ready she came and said the table was ready!! Food was EXCELLENT!!! Bill was LESS than expected (always a plus!).
Experience great and the staff was excellent!
We were incredibly disappointed with the service and food at La Vie. The menu itself is uninspiring. We took longer than usual to order because nothing seemed intriguing. The appetizer or small plate portion sizes were tiny. The "prawns" are just four small shrimp which they charged almost $20 for. Service was slow and not particularly helpful. Our server saw that there were four of us dining, but did not think to tell alert us when we ordered a starter with three servings. She was also unable to recommend wine pairings.
My husband ordered the crab cake, which was actually crunchy because of all of the shells. The roast chicken was bland. Overall, everything was overpriced. We will not be coming back.
great new hot spot on The Wharf in DC. beautiful and creative interior and great food to match.
The prices are way to high, and the portion size does not reflect the price amount. The food was just okay, but the restaurant is pretty in the inside.
La Vie is a chic classy spot for night life dining with few friends or even large groups.
It's cozy yet upscale!
Thank you for a great experience!
Really nice ambiance, great cocktails, excellent food. Got a table with a great view. Dessert selection had only three choices and we didn’t love what we got but probably just chose wrong.
Fantastic service, and food was delicious. Some really interesting bar drinks. Super fantastic view.
Great Place with amazing views of the waterfront. The decor is beautiful & the seating is spacious without being overcrowded. The food was exquisite.
Great spot overlooking the waterfront. Excellent food and service. Nice for before theater performance at The Anthem. Right next door makes it easy.
too noisy food overwrought service attentive great view very bright
The food was good but not great. Beet salad was tasty and my friend enjoyed the lobster ravioli. Our waiter was attentive, although the wine was served while we were midway through our appetizer. A little on the slow side, I thought. The ambiance is nice and the view is lovely.
I was annoyed with the service at the front desk. I had called and emailed in advance to find out about valet service or a parking validation. I spoke to a person who told me there is no valet parking at The Wharf but that my parking would be validated. Gave my parking ticket to the waiter and was told the front desk would validate. Stopped on the way out the door and was told they do not validate. Did they lie to me when I called or do the employees not know the policy?
I realize this is a minor issue overall, but it left an unpleasant impression at the end of what should have been a nice evening.
The venue and decor are superb! The food was very good, but didn't wow me and for the price I expected it to. My fish entree was $45 and it was not worth that price tag in my opinion.
Very cool space with an awesome view. The food was on point as well. The staff showed us around the entire place as it was our first time there. I highly recommend checking it out.
The cutest restaurant with amazing food! Food portions are great and are worth the cost!
We loved the ambience at La Vie - great view, fun decor, comfy seating, vibrant crowd. The food was very good. Overpriced, but you're paying for the atmosphere. The brussels sprouts and kale and squash salad were especially good. The scallops were mediocre but our other entrees were fine. They brought our daughter a delicious molten chocolate cake with vanilla ice cream and a candle because we were celebrating her birthday. Our server was excellent - attentive but not intrusive and allowing us as much time as we wanted between courses.
Gorgeous space and a stunning view.
We visited this restaurant to celebrate my husband bday, it was a great choice, our server, Edwin B was excellent!! the food and the drinks are great. This place is beautiful! By the end of the meal, we were planning our next visit.
Without hesitation I recommend La Vie. Had a wonderful window table with a great view. Awesome atmosphere and delicious food. Everyone commented on how much they enjoyed their meals. I am not usually enamored by truffle mac n cheese, but La Vie had a tasty twist to theirs. The seafood linguini dish was on point, with a generous portion of clam, mussels, shrimp. My only complaint, although pleasant, my cocktail was a very small portion... the wine pour was good.
Great food and atmosphere. Only disappointment was the appetizers came count with the main course. However, due to the mistake the apps weren’t charged. Mistake made, but response was great. Thus the 4
I asked for a few lemon wedges for my calamari... never received them.
At the time of the reservation the note birthday dinner was made and no one at the restaurant said anything about it. Waiter introduced himself and gave an idea about the restaurant however when asked about a drink his answer was “it is just liquor flavor”... Not very smart answer. The appetizer was great and came in proper time. The funny part was with the entrees.... The server was giving our order to other customers even though we told her that was our order I don’t think there’s much to say after this. Food was good but overpriced.
The views are great for sure.
Nicolas made our experience fantastic! He was pleasant, attentive, and informed--thanks!
Delicious meals and excellent customer service! We will be back!!
The ambiance, view, atmosphere was great, but the food was ok, and the prices were very high. For 2 people we spent $170 includingn tax&tip ( that only includes 1 drink) and we were still hungry when we left. Either have larger servings or the food needs to be better for the price's they charge.
A beautiful addition to the Southwest neighborhood. As a local, I would be more than happy to come here again. The ambiance, design, decor and location are absolutely amazing. I personally want to move into this restaurant. The food and drinks were wonderful. We did not do dessert; that menu was on the lighter side.
The service, from beginning to end, was outstanding. I loved that they encouraged us to walk around and explore the restaurant. The restaurant is absolutely beautiful and glamorous, but somehow still comfortable. I think the very nice, attentive staff helped with that vibe.
After dinner and wandering through the restaurant, we were encouraged to check out the outdoor terrace and bar, where we grabbed a drink. Wonderful views and again, extremely nice staff. The terrace overlooks the waterfront, with a great view of the Jefferson Memorial.
This place is gorgeous and simply amazing. Probably some of the best wine I’ve ever had. Great service. Great food.
Cute place. A bit pretentious. It's on floor 4.6?? But service was great, food was pretty good.
We were here for my husban’s birthday because a friend recomended, but we are really disappointed with everything. The food was not worth it at all. tasteless and cold, the food did not arrive at the same time. We were 4 people at the table, 3 of us ordered the steak and my other friend ordered the lobster ravioli, we did not like it at all. To tell you that the only thing we liked was the bread that was served with butter and the bottle of wine that we ordered was ok. Speaking of food, which is the most important thing for me I would never recommend this restaurant to my friends and Speaking of service it was very very slow. What a disappointment!
I loved everything about La Vie. La vie est belle. So is the view. The view was gorgeous with the sun setting. The food was delicious. We ordered the large pineapple drink so of course we loved that. The customer service was perfect the minute we arrived to the minute we left. I’m just sad we didn’t get dessert. Next time!
Terrible quality of food...oysters were not the best. Had to send back our drinks which were not well made. Hostesses at front desk were rude. Only server was the bright spot of the evening...friendly and polite.
Food is good, nothing special and overpriced. Same with the cocktails
I enjoyed my time at La Vie. My only take away as the elevators were down so we had to climb a few flights of stairs. We were accommodated when my party and I were seated. Excellent management and customer service!
Superb dining experience. Wait staff was attentive without being disruptive. I had the lobster ravioli and it was the best ravioli I've ever had; conceptualized by an artist.
The view and the food at La Vie are wonderful. This is our second visit. Communication at the front desk is a bit off. I called to change the time of our reservation by 30 minutes. The person on the phone said not a problem. I asked her to update this on Open Table too. I did not see anything go thru but thought its ok. Fifteen minutes later a voicemail comes through on my phone asking if we are still coming (odd) and then we arrived at our “new” scheduled time and the two ladies at the desk looked at us completely mystifying because there was no reservation for us at the former or new time. We were so embarrassed. All dressed up. Out of no where this other woman comes up to us and seats us asap as if she was our long lost best friend. Saved the night! You know we did everything right and so many people involved but the staff at the front desk needs to be trained not to make you feel worse. Looking at me questioning if I am being truthful or not does not help. The exact same thing happened to the people that were seated next to us and they went up to me to tell me! . .
My experience was amazing it was my best friends birthday. The food was incredible I had the lobster ravioli we both shared the asparagus. The service was excellent and the views were amazing.
Great highly recommend. Waitress very attentive
What kind of restaurant gets ZERO stars. We went to find out for ourselves. While not great, this restaurant is decent and the view is lovely. The service was gracious and attentive. Great happy hour spot.
This was my first time since the renovation of the "wharf" area. It is very upscale, DC-typical in terms of the type of stores, shops, and restaurants. It lacks a bit of soul, but I guess this is what "progress" looks like. The restaurant itself is stunning with fantastic views of the waterway. The food was delicious and spot on in terms of preparation (we both had seafood mains). It is a little pricey ($170 for two people including entrées, two cocktails a piece, and one side order each) but worth it. The service was attentive although the bar really took their time with our cocktails. This might have been forgivable had the restaurant been extremely busy, but it was a slow Monday night. Overall, I will return and I recommend this place, especially for special occasion or pre/post theater dining.
Four highlights - GREAT views of the Potomac/docks/planes and Natl Airport, very attentive service, good variety and tasty food choices overall, good drinks and bartender willing to tweak to suit customer's desires
One lowlight - mussels were small and hard to get to (compared to Brabo and Mussel Bar in NoVA. Mussels at La Vie were SO much harder to get to that even with very tasty sauce, at similar price to NoVA restaurants I will steer anyone I recommend La Vie to (and I will recommend restaurant otherwise) that they pick something else than the mussels. My companions enjoyed their appetizers, steak frites, beet salad and bread very much.
