La Viga Seafood
Nice birthday singing and candle on the dessert!
La Viga is wonderful. Food is fabulous. The staff is always helpful and friendly. We’ve seen the manager for years and she’s fantastic and runs a great crew. Love this place
This place is a real "find". Have gone several time, but we last visited on New Years Eve. Great cocktails, good vibe and the tapas were terrific. Only issues is that at times, the benches are hard on the tush.
Very nice staff and I'm glad this place seems to be making it.
Amazing food. Small restaurants but excellent dishes to choose from and very interesting drink selection. The staff was very busy on New Years Eve but they were still attentive and very nice. I would come back again.
We have been going to La Viga since it opened. Over the last two years we have remarked an overall decline that is significant. Prices have gone way up, the presentation of the plates is terrible (the Cochinita Pibil was always stunning), now they add a 3% surcharge, the chips are very poor whereas the old ones were much lighter.....simply put this restaurant has lost its way. The staff are still very efficient and friendly, but the food is not what is was and certainly not value for money. We keep going back thinking they will turn the corner but each time we come away disappointed. Tonight may have been our last visit which is a shame.
Food is good but overpriced given the setting
Excellent, creative mexican seafood with very attentive service. Location and decor is not fancy, but go for the food.
Great food. Creative and fresh. Service is good too.
We arrived at 5:30pm specifically because the menu on OT said happy hour was until 6pm. The time was wrong — it lasts until 5pm, but they honored the mistaken time. The service was excellent. Tasty sangria, very delicious guacamole and chips, yummy rajas tacos, and a very good salmon taco. I had mentioned it was my friend’s birthday and the wait staff surprised us both with a delectable flan complete w a candle. Because we got to take advantage of the happy hour prices and they comped the flan, our meal was very reasonable. Outside of HH, it would be a delicious but definitely more expensive meal than the one we got.
The fresh, original entrees served here are magnificent. This is a very popular Redwood City restaurant so be sure to make a reservation so you won’t be disappointed after arriving and find a crowded restaurant. You will be treated to delicious seafood and other menu items. Service is excellent here.
Wow! Was traveling through and we were all hungry so looked for a place for dinner “near us” - and La Viga was the option we selected due to the high ratings. So glad we did - it’s not the typical Mexican food I’m used to, the flavors are so beyond. Three of us ordered tacos - a variety of shrimp, salmon and pescado YUM. The seafood, sauces and fillings were so flavorful. The fourth member of our group ordered chicken enchiladas - she didn’t love them, but it came with refried black beans and cilantro rice and that she loved! Even the desserts were SO EXTRA 😍 For example, Churros with bavarian cream and chocolate sauce. And the service was outstanding. Wish I lived closer!
Great place and great food
La Viga is always great. We had their guacamole (which I always get), their fish tostadas were awesome (I had never had them before) and their Mariscada (their version of paella). Delicious!
Outstanding food, great cocktails, and excellent service. A bit pricier than our usual go-to restaurants, but well worth it.
The food was delicious! We sat outside so did not get the inside experience but it seemed decent. Highly recommend it :)
Excellent food, especially the whole grilled fish special, which was branzino both times we've been there. Everything is freshly made including the tortilla chips and they offer unusual dishes not found at your typical Mexican restaurant.
The wait staff is very friendly and accommodating, but should have told us that the fish would take longer to prepare than other entrees.
Ambiance is very casual. Some small tables with chairs, some long tables with benches. Walls are painted with brightly colored artwork; tv set was turned to a Spanish channel for soccer.
The atmosphere is VERY noisy! Don't plan to have a conversation unless you sit outside (and then it can be windy although quiet.)
I would definitely go there again for the food!
Absolutely delicious food. Authentic. Service was good. The ambiance was not particularly conducive to digestion....very very very noisy. Couldn't hear my dinner guest from across the table! The picnic table decor could be substituted for actual comfortable chairs with backs. The picnic tables were fairly sticky.... seemed like a better clean up between customers is in order.
Great upscale seafood Mexican cuisine!! Friendly staff!
Great food. Creative cooking. Casual bench style seating
Love the freshness, quality and creativity of La Viga!
The food was fantastic but the tables were sticky. The seating is picnic table style but that would be fine except it wasn't very clean. We had a party of 8 and we all noticed that the table wasn't wiped. food was superb (seafood tacos) and good portions. This was a birthday and the cake cutting fee was $1.50 per guest since we brought our own cake. Overall a good place to go but parking is difficult.
Great food. Very attentive staff. Will return.
La Viga lived up to its great reviews on both Yelp and OpenTable. The tacos were awesome -- so was the shrimp cocktail and the drinks. We will definitely be going back. I have to say the service was fantastic.
Family night! Delicious from start to finish! Can’t wait to come back and try more!
Great coconut shrimp. Food Service good. Bar service needs help
Food never disappoints but it’s a little loud and warm in here. Other than that, this place is awesome.
Excellent excellent excellent. Delicious food. Excellent service. Great spot. Don't tell too many people..
Good lunch w family for birthday celebration. Food was excellent. Service a little lacking.
Visiting our Bay Area home from the East Coast. Always have to visit La Viga for the delicious tacos!
Best meal I have had in a long time--superb seafood and seasoning.
Service was great. Prices more than reasonable. Ambiance was more casual than we expected from the website- but that was a pleasant surprise as we were not up for fancy digs. Lots of people, so not quiet, but no annoying background music and other diners were not raucous. Great find--highly recommend.
Mole sauce was superb. The ceviche was excellent. This place is the best Mexican I’ve had on the Peninsula.
La Viga began life as kind of an upscale taqueria. They still have picnic benches and tables; you still sit with strangers at a large table if things are crowded; the food is still excellent. Surprisingly, they do not have a Mexican beer on tap. And not so surprisingly, it has now become a pricey restaurant. Picnic tables and expensive food (almost at the level of the excellent sister restaurant, LV Mar)! I think we will go to LV Mar in the future with its better selections of beverage and food and a comfy, cozy environment.
Great local place, tacos were great, prices were fair and the atmosphere was perfect for lunch! Service was amazing.
I have been here many times to eat. My entre was not up to par. Disappointment. But the service is great as usual!
Great food, friendly atmosphere. It's a bit noisy and crowded with bench seating, but a nice family atmosphere.
The food and service were extraordinary. Unique menu choices in a world of duplication. We had an awesome time.
No complaints about this little hidden gem. Very fresh seafood that was well seasoned. Had delicious ceviche, enchiladas and shrimp quesadilla. Margarita was also good. Service was above and beyond. Will definitely go back and have already recommended this restaurant to friends.
I love this little place. The food is so delicious and the staff so professional. It’s my first choice these days.
Everything was delicious! Service was excellent! Loved this place!
