The food was absolutely flavorless.
The food was good. The place was almost full, and the service was very poor...it took two reminders to get a water refill, for example, and two reminders to get the drinks menu. The noise level was so high that one could not hear from across the table, even with only 4 people.
I got good poisoning from the HH oysters :(
The food is awesome!
Best coconut ice cream in SF!
Poor service from the outset - the person who greeted us was rude and that set the tone for the rest of the evening. The severs were rude uninterested and basically slammed the food on the table.
The waiters tried to make up for it but the poor service had marred our experience. They didn’t acknowledge the birthday celebration at all.
I would not recommend this place anymore, at least not on Saturday night. It was like a night club in there. Loud music, loud people, nonexistent staff. We were given the worst possible table in the entire restaurant, right by the exit door. As you can imagine, lots of people used either to leave or to enter the restaurant. It was very annoying and cold. Our waitress decided we weren't worth her time, she even admitted out loud that she was too slow taking our order. We only saw her three times and the third time only because we managed to flag her down to ask for the check. There were people congregating by the bar which was also close to us, the whole dinner seemed rushed and uncomfortable. The only good thing was the food - excellent pineapple fried rice (enough for two meals btw, so great value for money) and roasted chicken with sweet chili dip and sticky rice was okay too. We shared a bottle of Riesling which was nicely chilled - thank you. However, due to the terrible ambiance and the lack of service, we will stick to Osha next time.
Great food, good drinks and efficient service. It’s a loud and lively space but that comes with a full house. Probably not ideal for a quiet date but great for a group.
Great food, but a little pricey. Mentioned on OpenTable that we were celebrating a birthday, but they didn't acknowledge.
Had a great time at Lao Table. Service was good, especially at the bar where we started with happy hour and proceeded to dinner afterwards. Quality of the food was good but I’ve had better for the prices that they charged. Ambiance was good but the noise level can make it challenging to have conversations with the people in your party. I still would recommend this restaurant and plan on going back. The location makes it very easy to get to whether by car or Bart.
Great food and even better service. Truly lovely people. Thank you for a wonderful evening
Sucked, they placed us right next to the door and left it open
Good food, but the noise level was intolerable. I could not converse with my friends, and left with a bad headache.
Food was poor compared to others tried very noisy Hip hop style music drinks expensive would not recommend
Too loud for a biz lunch but presentation of food on every table looked great.
Lao table has been consistently wonderful and one of our favorite office lunch spots! Service is consistently great and the food has been excellent. However, this time around, the food was sub par. The fish was warm and had gone bad and the chicken basil, fairly greasy. Very surprising.
Sat at the bar for happy hour oysters. Great value but the mignonette didn't have much flavor. Wished they had horseradish. Also the TVs are way too high for comfortable viewing.
The food was delicious but it took a while to come out. Drinks were outstanding. The service was great, but it was slow.
Food is amazing!
Very loud to where you are yelling at each other even though place was half full. Papaya salad was inedible because it had a very unpleasant fishy taste. Service was very slow and we were asked to move after being seated so a larger party could take our table. A new waiter didn’t come for 10 minutes.
really delicious meal - love this place - would recommend
The food was fabulous and everyone enjoyed eating here. I have sent 3 different groups here to eat and they have all came back raving about the food. The noise is a little loud but it also adds to the group ambiance.
Great restaurant! Good food, nice ambiance.
My table was wobbly, but we were near the host stand so we grabbed half their business cards and fixed it ourselves :)
Food was good, but host/waiter was extremely rude. Rushing us out. Didn’t even ask if we want to take our leftovers or not and took them away. Very disappointing ☹️!
Always delish, but super loud and hard to hear my guests.
Great food, but still finding its legs with how popular it is. Waited a very long time to be seated despite having a reservation, and took a very long time again to get out of there after we were done as our server was nowhere to be seen (eventually I hunted someone else down to get the check). Front of house super disorganized. Hopefully they’ll get there.
We were one of very few people in the restaurant for lunch as we arrived around 11:30. Around noon the place was packed. Unfortunately they misplaced our order so we didn’t start eating until 12:40. The gave us complimentary Thai iced teas which was nice, but I would have rather they comp’d our appetizer instead. The food is very good and high quality and the prices reflect that. I would only go here on special occasions.
Fun place, good size portions.
Really bad staff, service and hospitality
Exceptional presentation and delicious meal. Prices were on the high side. We would gladly return but the noise level was SOOOOOO LOOOUUUUUDDD, we two could not have a conversation.
The Pineapple and Chicken rice bowl came with 2 shrimp, the rest chicken. The coconut drink was really good! Service was slow.
Never tried Laotian food before and wasn't sure what to expect but we were very happy we went. Cuisine is sort of a fresh twist on traditional Thai and, I felt, was more flavorful and diverse. Great place for a business dinner or a date with friends - can be a little on the loud side but not deafening and the decor is light and inviting. If you've got a group, the sample appetizer is a perfect mix of many flavors and we had the basil chicken, Pad Pho Beef and a vegetarian dish, all of which were excellent. If you like soccer tread cautiously - we decided to start with the medium and glad we did since that was more comparable to other restaurants hot which was perfect for us. Definitely recommend a try - we'll be back next time we're in town!
Beautiful presentation of dishes, quick service, solid food
Nice restaurant. Good was good. Service was off. The restaurant is way too loud.
My husband had been raving about this place and wanting to take me here for years. He enjoys dining here at lunch with co-workers, and raved about the many different plates they have. We dined on Saturday night, were seated quickly but on the side of the restaurant near the service bar even though I listed in the reservation it was our anniversary. It seemed there was more lively action in the main dining area, the only action we witnessed were drinks being churned out and a few glasses broken. There were many dishes that looked yummy on the menu, however given the price, we ordered two entrees. They were decent, but nothing rave-worthy and certainly not worth the price tag in our opinions. We were going to stay and try dessert, but the hostess then seated a couple with a giant baby stroller next to us (at almost 9pm mind you!) and so we left and headed elsewhere for dessert. For the price tag and the sub-par food, we will not be returning or recommending.
I just wish waiters could be faster but they are super friendly
Great food! Will come back again :) ate the crispy sticky rice salad and fried pork belly which were both delicious.
I have eaten several times at Lao Table. The service is excellent. The food is mostly delicious. I recommend the raw Tuna Tartar Appetizer with avocado and mango it is outstanding (served with fresh apples and wafer thin wonton chips). The duck larb which was also scrumptious spiced perfectly, moist, lean and served with an array of fresh vegetables and herbs (endive, lettuce. Basil and mint). My major disappointment was a series of changes on the menu. Deletion of the smoked duck liver and the grilled wagyu beef which were signature dishes. Those two dishes were the reason I returned several times to dine at Lao Table. They were amazing artistic culinary dishes that had a wow factor. To find them off the menu and no upscale replacement items left the menu a bit like many other South East Asian fusion restaurants. The menu itself seemed reduced and substantially modified from my last visit. In fact, the eggplant and tofu curry and the beef dish we ate had similar sauces and flavor profiles. The quality of beef was below average and was sufficiently disguised by the sauce but not something I would recommend or order again. Both the eggplant curry and the beef dish were just ok. The noise level is unbearable at times but is mitigated by great service. Would I return? Yes, but not as often as I would if the deleted items on the menu were still there and the menu returned to its former version. The smoked duck liver and the wagyu beef and a very interesting menu were what made the restaurant stand out. It was unfortunate to see them gone.
I thought it would be a place for special occasion. The food was good. It was very crowded and super loud. You can barely hear each other during the dinner. It might explain why everybody was talking so loud. Unfortunately, I wouldn’t recommend this place if you are looking for a place where you could hold a conversation while having your dinner.
Service is slow .. food is good .. lovely place
