Fun place, good size portions.
Really bad staff, service and hospitality
Exceptional presentation and delicious meal. Prices were on the high side. We would gladly return but the noise level was SOOOOOO LOOOUUUUUDDD, we two could not have a conversation.
The Pineapple and Chicken rice bowl came with 2 shrimp, the rest chicken. The coconut drink was really good! Service was slow.
Never tried Laotian food before and wasn't sure what to expect but we were very happy we went. Cuisine is sort of a fresh twist on traditional Thai and, I felt, was more flavorful and diverse. Great place for a business dinner or a date with friends - can be a little on the loud side but not deafening and the decor is light and inviting. If you've got a group, the sample appetizer is a perfect mix of many flavors and we had the basil chicken, Pad Pho Beef and a vegetarian dish, all of which were excellent. If you like soccer tread cautiously - we decided to start with the medium and glad we did since that was more comparable to other restaurants hot which was perfect for us. Definitely recommend a try - we'll be back next time we're in town!
Beautiful presentation of dishes, quick service, solid food
Nice restaurant. Good was good. Service was off. The restaurant is way too loud.
My husband had been raving about this place and wanting to take me here for years. He enjoys dining here at lunch with co-workers, and raved about the many different plates they have. We dined on Saturday night, were seated quickly but on the side of the restaurant near the service bar even though I listed in the reservation it was our anniversary. It seemed there was more lively action in the main dining area, the only action we witnessed were drinks being churned out and a few glasses broken. There were many dishes that looked yummy on the menu, however given the price, we ordered two entrees. They were decent, but nothing rave-worthy and certainly not worth the price tag in our opinions. We were going to stay and try dessert, but the hostess then seated a couple with a giant baby stroller next to us (at almost 9pm mind you!) and so we left and headed elsewhere for dessert. For the price tag and the sub-par food, we will not be returning or recommending.
I just wish waiters could be faster but they are super friendly
Great food! Will come back again :) ate the crispy sticky rice salad and fried pork belly which were both delicious.
I have eaten several times at Lao Table. The service is excellent. The food is mostly delicious. I recommend the raw Tuna Tartar Appetizer with avocado and mango it is outstanding (served with fresh apples and wafer thin wonton chips). The duck larb which was also scrumptious spiced perfectly, moist, lean and served with an array of fresh vegetables and herbs (endive, lettuce. Basil and mint). My major disappointment was a series of changes on the menu. Deletion of the smoked duck liver and the grilled wagyu beef which were signature dishes. Those two dishes were the reason I returned several times to dine at Lao Table. They were amazing artistic culinary dishes that had a wow factor. To find them off the menu and no upscale replacement items left the menu a bit like many other South East Asian fusion restaurants. The menu itself seemed reduced and substantially modified from my last visit. In fact, the eggplant and tofu curry and the beef dish we ate had similar sauces and flavor profiles. The quality of beef was below average and was sufficiently disguised by the sauce but not something I would recommend or order again. Both the eggplant curry and the beef dish were just ok. The noise level is unbearable at times but is mitigated by great service. Would I return? Yes, but not as often as I would if the deleted items on the menu were still there and the menu returned to its former version. The smoked duck liver and the wagyu beef and a very interesting menu were what made the restaurant stand out. It was unfortunate to see them gone.
I thought it would be a place for special occasion. The food was good. It was very crowded and super loud. You can barely hear each other during the dinner. It might explain why everybody was talking so loud. Unfortunately, I wouldn’t recommend this place if you are looking for a place where you could hold a conversation while having your dinner.
Service is slow .. food is good .. lovely place
Cuisine épicée et de qualité
Salle très bruyante
Fun time with friends.
Delicious thai food.
I wanted to try something new had ordered banana blossom salad & it was ok. But other food I have had was never disappointing. The service was okay however we did get our food very fast which was good.
Second time here and the service and food wasn’t as great as the first time!
Food wasn’t as great. I got the pineapple fried rice and it was amazing the first time and second time didn’t taste as great.
Shame as was really looking forward to the second visit!
Date night with my husband is always good
The food was amazing and the service was excellent!!
Great food and ambiance in the heart of the city. Phenomenal Thai experience
Sometimes you find a great restaurant for the first time and you remember it and want to go back. And by time you go it has built up a little more and you arrive and end up a little disappointed
That is not what happened on my second visit to Lao table, food and service were just as good as the first time if not a little better!!
Food was hard to eat, they just give you big leaves and meat you're expected to figure it out. Would rather this was clear or they prepared it for you better.
Love the steak and hot pot
Service very slow...food average
Food is fantastic. The environment is modern and upbeat. However, if you get in with large, corporate groups, then it can be very noisy and the staff can get busy. We had to wait 10 minutes even with a reservation. I definitely recommend it, and make sure you have a reservation.
Had dinner reservations, and was very disappointed with the poorly managed and disorganized host station.
We had reservations but were seated in the shared long table and crammed like sardines. Typically, bench/nicer seats are for diners with reservations and the shared/common area tables are for walk-ins.
Poor layout. The dining table jutted into the aisle. I posted photos of people that stood next to - and at times OVER - our dining table. Not cool people. Even the wait staff and hostesses would bump into our tables. It’s the hostess’s responsibility to make sure the area isn’t over crowded so that patrons aren’t standing in the dining area. The staff should’ve asked people to wait outside or wait at the bar, if they don’t provide an adequately sized waiting area by the front door.
- Very drafty and noisy. They should install tall curtains by the door to keep the cold air from flowing every time the door opens. The constant draft made our food on the table get colder faster.
+ food was tasty, but at the price they charge, the quality of the service needs to improve.
Always satisfied when we leave there love the fact we can book a reservation online and the food is great every single time
Brought a group from out of town and everyone loved it. The service was stellar, very comfortable seating. The presentation on the dishes was spectacular!! I will definitely go back. Great for a group so you can try lots of dishes.
I had the pork knuckle. Outstanding braise.
Way too noisy and way too factory like. Food - so, so...
Great food and ambience
Lao table was a wonderful unexpected surprise. I cannot say enough about this place. 3 of us went for a late business dinner and as we entered we could feel it had a great lively vibe to it.
The food was great, the pork belly was fantastic. the service was exceptional, we had misread one of the dishes and it had an ingredient someone was allergic to. Our server offer to replace the dish without the allergic ingredient even though it was clearly our mistake.
we were the last ones there and no one rushed us, they let us linger as they worked around us
I think I have a new SF favorite!
Never disappointing! My go to spot for Thai restaurant in the city ♥️
You get the perfect balance of quantity and quality here. Everything is well seasoned with traditional spices and perfectly cooked. Wait staff is very friendly and offer advice without being too pushy. Definitely would come back
Went for my mom’s bday, great food & service as usual!
Servers were extremely rude to us. Very unclear why but this place was loud and fun, and they all looked like they hated their job. Probably won’t return because of this.
Food was great but came out at all different times. One person had to wait an eternity for their meal while others finished. Kitchen timing was off but if you can handle this the food was good :)
I’ve had lunch here several times...always hoping my next visit will be better. $105 lunch for two, with two appetizers. For the price, the quality of the food is poor. That my last try.
Both my guests and my self are happy with the food. Spicy and delicate. However, we feel very rushed during the dinner time. Waiter constantly wiped the table and repeated asking if I was done with my dish. I said at least twice "Not yet. I am still working on it." Also I asked for brown rice, they gave me a bowl of white rice. I had lunch twice in the past and this is my first dinner. The service quality is very disturbing.
