Lavagna - NYC
Low key but high value. Perfect service with an unpretentious but refined vibe. New favorite place in NYC.
excellent Italian food...outstanding! Will go back as soon as we can!
What an adorable little gem!! The food was exquisite and our waitress was super helpful, without being overbearing.
I brought my parents here, who are difficult to please upper west siders, and all of our dishes were delicious!
Note: the scallop appetizer with puréed parsnip actually changed my life in the best way possible. :)
always wonderful, 3rd time here and will continue . great everything!!
Always a great experience. Warm, welcoming, fun and friendly. The food is delicious. It's a favorite.
Each time I go to Lavagna I am transported to softly-lit deliciousness. Great service, sublime menu and lovely overall experience!
Loved everything about this place: the food, the service, and the vibe. Casual, cozy, and romantic. Def coming back.
We all had a delicious meal. Fantastic wine selection. All good.
Local gem great place love it
One of the best home feel Italian restaurants that I had ever been too. The foods, drinks was great! This was my first time here my friends took me for my bday celebration and I have a great time. Will definitely be back again 🥰
We loved it! The food was amazing and the service too. We’ll be definitely going back!
Well ..Lavagna is a neighborhood GEM. Not in a way that would put it on a Top 50 in America List or anything but in a way that matters more . The venue is small, quaint ,authentic, probably hasnt changed in 20 yrs. Perfect .They jam them in here and that adds to the atmosphere , energy so if your looking for quiet booth for 2 ....dont look here. The staff are efficient and down to business ...in short, pros. The Food , wonderful . My Pasta dish was to die for . Sooo good . All and all just an enjoyable evening. Well worth the price of admission . Bravo Lavagna
Lavagna is a warm, cozy establishment with an attentive staff. The homemade pastas, especially
the rigatoni and the pappardelle with braised rabbit are excellent. There is a reason that this Italian trattoria has been around for twenty years.
Cozy and delicious
Christmas Eve dinner. Seated immediately. Restaurant joyful. Service attentive. Martinis cold. Fish perfectly done. Owner welcoming and warm. Lovely.
An incredible dining experience. A beautiful sense of care, warmth and welcome in everything. Delicious food and friendly lovely people making, serving and speaking about the food. Go and enjoy!
Love this restaurant and come there every time we are in the city!!!
The food was OUTSTANDING! WOW, it was delicious
Delicious pasta. Excellent wine list. Knowledgeable and cordial staff. Will return!
Every thing was wonderful but it's a bit loud when full.
This place is always excellent. A wonderful room, great food and an amazing wine list with many reasonably priced selections. The service is warm, prompt and knowledgeable.
The restaurant was charming, the food was excellent and the owner made great wine recommendations.
It was a dark, cold and rainy night...:) It was actually, and Lavagna did the trick. Very good fish ( artic char on a bed of flavorful farro, and a done-to-a-turn monkfish classic) as usual with wonderful contorni just like mom made. The apple crostata was to die for. The wine was perfect as usu. Bravi
amazing! Highly recommend
Our current favorite restaurant in NYC! Delicious food and fun ambience.
It's a solid staple. It's small, quaint, with good food, good service and it's loud... But hey it's NYC . we make noise!!!
Lavagna is a great neighborhood place in the East Village. I went there with a friend from out of town after a day of sightseeing around Manhattan. This was a great place to chill. The service is very personal and welcoming. I loved my fettucine with roast pork ragu. It was a perfect finish for our tour around Manhattan.
Wonderful neighbour find, with excellent fresh fish and meat, warm and friendly staff and management, and a cosy ambience. Great for a date night with an energetic buzz.
My favorite restaurant in NYC. I can’t get enough of this place. Food is consistently wonderful, especially the rigatoni. All of the staff are friendly and attentive.
We were incredibly late due to traffic. I called and kept the restaurant apprised of our status, however we ended up being 45 mins late on a very busy Friday night. The manger was not happy but we promised to leave by the time h needed to turn the table. He was most gracious and accommodating. The food, service and staff were all amazing. We had a great meal and a lovely evening.
Lavagna continues to please each time I visit and I love bringing new friends. Unique atmosphere, wonderful food at very reasonable prices and great wine list. I just wish they would take service a bit slower, though we ended up enjoying our leisurely dinner as we slowly sipped our lovely bottle of the wine I inquired about and received a great recommendation.
This was a fantastic experience: this team does a fantastic job all-around. Seating was quick, service was excellent, recommendations were spot-on, food delicious, and amazing value-for-money. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!
Exceptionally true to menus found throughout Italy itself, the execution of the dishes was flawless and mirrored exactly the beauty of Italian cuisine, fresh ingredients, delicately prepared to enhance, but not overpower, the nuances of the food. An exemplary oven roasted fish was a prime example as was the risotto. It is a small very popular ambience, festive but with quick and efficient service, an extensive wine list with offerings in friendly price ranges. Highly recommended.
Good food. Our waiter was a bit arrogant. Would not separate checks. Two dished never came, so we had to ask. Wine by the glass menu was pathetic
Love this place. Fair value, buzzing environment, delicious food and excellent service.
Delicious food and wonderful service!
This restaurant came highly recommended, and while in NY for a long weekend, we decided to try it. This involved a fairly long cab ride from west 43rd Street. We all thought the food was very good. The wine list had nothing below $60 a bottle! Not acceptable for this type of restaurant. The service was terrible and the owner/ waiter was very haughty.
I would absolutely not go back! There are plenty of restaurants in NY with excellent, friendly service with comparable food, and a more reasonable wine list!
Best place in NYC to get italian food and have a good time with your friends or love ones.
Dined at Lavagna several times over the past 2 years. It is best enjoyed at non-peak dining times. The maitre d was surly on our arrival (with a reservation) and banged around the dining area barking orders at staff. This added to the tension/noise level. One server (not ours) appeared to be auditioning for THE WALKING DEAD in full zombie pancake make-up. Our server was pleasant, but obviously under stress. The food, however, was excellent. I've never had a bad meal at Lavagna and will certainly return--before 7:30 PM.
only if they like small, noisy & dark places to dine in.....a pity because the food is quite special.
