Lawry's The Prime Rib - Chicago
Our meal was top notch from beginning to end! Our server, Ms. Rivkin, was warm, wonderful and wise. The chef, Albert was an expert and between them and our busser we never wanted for anything. A special evening out indeed!
The service was poor which I was surprised. I thought for the type of restaurant it is the service would have been exceptional. The food was good but not great.
Wonderful food. Prime rid was top notch. Sides were also very good. Restaurant is wonderful with a classic charm. The staff was fantastic, pleasant and friendly. The food is a bit pricey but I believe worth every penny. Only two things I would have liked improved upon. The first being a minor inconvenience and that is the meal lasted over an hour, I prefer a faster service. I'm aware that not everyone does and the slower pace can be charming, when one takes their time and enjoys the company of their dinner companions. I just prefer to not take as long. The second being more of a complaint, that is our dining experience was very loud. So much so that our server was inaudible unless standing directly next to me. It didn't help that we were seated directly below a ceiling mounted speaker playing background music, but the rounded shape of the dining room does nothing to baffle others conversations. Other than the overwhelming at times noise level we will surely return to Lawry's The Prime Rib, but we will surely request a quieter table.
A classic that never changes. Absolutley the best prime rib around! Service was somewhat rushed and not as attentive as it could have been, but still efficient
Food and service is always awesome. The valet company they use is another story. I would give them 1 star.
Believe it or not, there’s more to the name
If the best prime rib is not your liking
Fish steaks chops are also available.
Amazing appetizers— fresh baked sour dough break, delicious spinning salad
Prime rib is carved table side. Libations for all tastes and service that you will not receive anywhere. Our server Rice was amazing, treated you as if we dined there nightly. Can’t wait for our next time to Lawry’s 😋
The service and food is always amazing but what makes it really special is when miss Johnson is our server. We have had her for the last 30 years and she makes it as worth while as the amazing food.
The service is always exceptional and ambiance elegant. The prices are a tad high but for special occasions it is worth it
Always a great experience.
Amazing experience. We had a lovely tome and very glad we got to experience
Heard about it for years. Glad I went. Delicious.
Excellent prime rib and Yorkshire pudding....cook was generous with extra rib - checked in 2x on meal.
In the top 5 of prime ribs I have had the pleasure of tasting. A must stop in Chicago.
Was celebrating my moms 75th birthday Everything was perfect! We started coming here in late 1974( well my parents did) Bartender super friendly, table looked beautiful with Birthday ribbon, waitress was Super! Phil our carver..outstanding. To top off yummy cake. Thank you for a very memorable evening, celebrating a beautiful lady!
Everything was great! Loved the food, the wait staff, and the atmosphere!
Our server made the whole evening perfect!
Always great food & time at Lawry's.
Out standing service!!! They paid close attention to our needs. Would definitely come back
This was our first time at Lawry’s. Our waitress was very friendly and informative.
The food was delicious and the restaurant is beautiful!
My husbands 72nd Birthday. He chose Lawry’s over every other restaurant in Chicago! Always a good time and the food is delicious and consistent.
Disappointed. Prime rib was barely warm and poorly cut. Small amount of salad was offered. Waiter was very busy. We ordered mushrooms and lobster in addition to the prime rib and that was not brought out with our prime rib. We won’t be back.
Mark Garcia was great. We enjoy our evening
Pricey, but the best prime rib I've ever had. Great salad and sides too
Have been coming to Lawrys for over 30 years! Second to none
My boyfriend and I tried this restaurant after I had sampled the prime rib at an event and really enjoyed it. Our experience at the restaurant itself was much different than what I got from the people working the event. First off, a dinner for two (without dessert) took 2 hours and 45 minutes.... we spent the entire night there which ruined the rest of our evening. The service was so unbelievably slow. It took us 30 minutes to just get water and I had to ask for it. Second out waitress while she tried to be kind and put on a happy face for us at the table didn’t translate the same as she’d walk away or as we’d observe around the restaurant (we had plenty of time waiting to do a lot of observing). It seemed as though most of the employees were upset/frustrated especially when they interacted with each other. Maybe it was an off night, that happens but it definitely showed. Now when it came to the food, we order the calamari for appetizer and it was just overly fried and oily. We barely finished half of it. Then we got a fish and an order of the prime rib. The fish got there and was so over cooked and dry which was disappointing because the flavor was good but we were unable to choke down the dry fish. With how long this meal was taking we didn’t dare say anything in fear of it taking another hour. The next issue was when we received the fish we had to wait a while for the guy to come around with the prime rib which our waitress was clearly annoyed telling us he should have been here. The prime rib wasn’t bad but I seemed to remember it being better at the event I had first sampled it at. Lastly, when the waitress came to ask about dessert we politely declined and as she walked away and threw the menu on top of the ledge where they kept the menus in a very annoyed manor. We can be understanding of bad days and all but when your whole experience is off and when you pay that much money for a meal you leave is much disappointment and we definitely will not return!
Everytime my family and I go to Chicago we love to go to this place. Throughout the years, the quality has not changed, being always great. The Lawry’s cut is delicious! Highly recommended
A relaxed environment for a celebratory dinner. Great service and food.
We did not enjoy the meat, but the sides were great.
We had a great anniversary dinner at a classic Chicago restaurant. Fun and unique experience with the table food production shows at the different courses of the meal.
I love Lowery’s but I was very disappointed this time around. Our food was cold and I think For the amount of money it was just a bad experience all around.
It was a lovely experiences, super service and overall the restaurant is amazing.
My wife and I decided to try Lawry’s while visiting Chicago. The ambiance is great. Our server, Mr. Rice, was wonderful and personable. He explained everything very well.
We started with the “spinning salad”. Made tableside it wS delicious with a wonderful dressing. My wife ordered the prime rib while I had a filet. Both were very good. My wife has informed me we WILL eat there nect time in Chicago which will be in August. Highly recommended.
We went there for my kid’s birthday celebration. The server seems not so friendly but will talk with a smile. At the end of the meal I was ordering a cake for dessert,
I’m a regular at this location and didn’t feel very welcomed by the server. My mother has cancer and for us to go out for dinner is a big task. Upon arrival host stand was amazing but server didn’t seem very friendly.
The food, service and atmosphere were exceptional!! I love the old-world class and sophisticated elegance of this restaurant! It was my birthday and they made it special.
Family birthday & we’ve been here a dozen times. It was really slow so they put us in side dining room. Servers uniforms looked unkempt(, side dishes served were on tiny little plates. The spinning salad use to be fun to watch as they poured salad dressing in, now it’s just a little dish & tossed around a bit. The presentation was f serving was just lacking.
Food still really good just entire place needs a bit of updating. What use to seem like an elegant old time experience seems like a “ tired” experience.
Didn’t help that the rest rooms had an odor & the bartender was less than friendly.
Lawry’s is our all-time favorite! Took my wife there the night we were engaged and yearly since. Don’t close at least for another 50 or so years, kay?
We were looking for a Chicago dining experience and this was fantastic. The location and ambience was great and the food was amazing. Thanks so much for all you did to make a Chicago memory.
Overall it was excellent. Prime rib was a bit over done.
We love dining at Lawry's. We travel to Chicago from Kentucky usually twice a year and stay on the Magnificent Mile. Most of the time we are within walking distance of Lawry's. We had a very good server in Ms. Farmer. She was very nice and attentive to our needs. The food was very good and the atmosphere was also good.
I had a reservation and was sat very promptly but it took almost 25 minutes before any server came up to us or before we were even brought bread. When we told the manager, he seemed kind of condescending about it and took his time to tell someone to serve us. Besides the service, food was excellent.
