We had a lovely lunch in one of our favorite restaurants.
My wife and I have been there once before with overseas visitors. As we are now both seniors I would have thought there would be specials on for seniors. My wife ordered the Kingfisher meal, but was disappointed with the quantity in relation to the size of the plate it came on and she thought it did not represent good value.
We arrived at 811 pm for 830 booking and was told too early. Stood out in cold and waited till 827. My plater was a $99.00 dollar dish of Seafood and there was no meat in the lobster and the fish was better at the fish and chip shop. My husband’s dish was fish and salad (very sub standard). Waiter was lovely but food let it down.
This restaurant is fantastic. The only setback is that it is too far away from our home in Geelong.
Very nice dining experience with family! Great quality food! Nice staff and atmosphere! Five star all the way! One of my fave restaurants in Melbourne!
Best quality food ,
Very Tasty and A La Carte.
Always very happy to be there,
I like prestige and quality ,
This is one of The Best
Our first time at Lobster Cave. We were impressed with the romantic ambiance and staff are friendly and courteous. Although there were families with kids, the noise level was quite comfortable. Service was excellent and the food fresh and delicious, although the entree and mains were brought out a few minutes apart. We were given complimentary shots of port and some cheesecake with a bottle of their house wine which we thought was quite nice. It is however on the expensive side
Great food and service
So pleased to see the restaurant busy and nearly full. Greeted warmly.
MUSIC TOO LOUD, and could have been more suitable to the mainly older people who were enjoying their meal.
On request they turned it down, but it was still too loud.
The tables were too close together - and our neighbours could hear our conversation.
It turned out okay, and we became good friends with the young couples either side of us.
BUT not quite the romantic lunch they would have hoped for I fear.
The food wonderful.
Love lobster cave, great food and friendly service. Become regular client after first time dinning experience.
It’s such a lovely place to eat it’s a shame we live 50 minutes away or else we would be there so much more
Great place for special occasion very expensive but great service and nice presentation of food have been going there for years and great to see it still sets a standard
We enjoyed our overall experience on the night. It was the first time as a new couple that we went there. My partner was impressed with the night, the service, the variety and flavours of food we had. I've been many times and was happy with it all. We added icecream to our Cream Brulie and that was no problem and very tasty. The service and friendliness of our waiter was exemplary. Would recommend to others.
Outstanding service by our waiter, very warm and welcoming. Delicious food but on the pricier side but great quality.
An outstanding night with a wonderful meal (3 course celebration) and waited on by a marvellous waiter (Yannis).
After all these years the Lobster Cave still doesn't disappoint. The food was as delicious as always and the service was on point. It is the perfect location for an intimate celebration and we look forward to our next visit.
The Lobster Cave is a treasure trove of seafood delights. It's always a pleasure to eat here as the food is delicious and the service impeccable. I was a little disappointed in my meal as the portion sizes were very small (Hot-smoked salmon entree and gorgonzola gnocchi main). Also I expected the Hot-smoked salmon to be a warm dish and it was cold, more like a salad. Even my waiter didn't know this so was unable to advise me before I ordered it. Descriptions of the dishes would be appreciated!
Staff, atmosphere & food faultless
Was a delightful way to spend my birthday. Was more than full when I left the restsurant. Thought the coffee was a bit pricey but in all a great experience. Also my husband's meal should have included wine which didn't arrive
We booked a table for 4 on Sunday 7th April lunchtime, it states on my booking that "From the restaurant the Dining period is a 2 hour seating". We were ushered to leave after 1 1/2 hours! My wife still had a full glass of wine on the table to drink when we had to get up from the table and leave. We had to wait over 20 minutes for the starter to arrive so I would have thought they would have a bit quicker if they wanted us to leave earlier. Non of us were very impressed. What can I say??
Best service by really nice older friendliest Greek guy , so kind warm and welcoming... always great seafood and so delicious the calamari and prawns - yum
Fabulous meal all around. Exquisite food and our waiter, Yanni, made the night really special.
Only negatives were a dirty floor under our table, and some of the other wait staff had great trouble delivering dishes to the right tables (we were initially brought someone else’s mains while we were waiting for our entrees, and then our mains were taken to two different tables before they were brought to us).
Excellent service and great food. The staff were extremely courteous and I really enjoyed my time here. Will definitely come back
Had a lovely evening celebrating my fiances birthday.
We both wanted to try lobster and it was definitely delicious!
We thought it was great. Waiters exceptional. Food fantastic and atmosphere really good.
We could have conversation and be heard. This was a fri lunch, sat might be different but yes we will definitively be back. Enjoyed by everyone....
Awesome friendly staff, very attentive and delicious food. Eye fillet cooked to die for
Lovely food but a different menu which we didn't enjoy quite as much. Always great friendly service.
Great ! The food was lovely and the service was the best ! Especially our waiter !
We chose the special lunch for $39 pp. Excellent value for a great lunch. We all enjoyed it very much.
Love this restaurant. Drove an hour to go to it
Enjoyed an evening at Lobster Cave with my husband. The service was excellent and waiter helpful and friendly. The meal was delicious. After entrees we both had fillet steak and lobster tail, I finished with a creme brulee (perfect) and my husband had the liquorice ice cream which he enjoyed. Our waiter then brought us complimentary ports.
On arrival we were seated quickly and attended to straight away.
The meals were delivered quickly and were hot. Spacing between courses was ideal with time for a chat and a drink.
Meals were cooked perfectly, calamarie was delicious as were the prawns.
Staff were attentive but unobtrusive and knowledgebale about the dishes.
A great night at a great place.
I’ve been returning to the Lobster Cave for years.
However last night I witnessed terrible service to the table behind me. As the couple were eating their entrees, their main meals were placed on the table. The young woman was a bit shocked as she couldn’t find room for the plate. Then, as she was half way through her main, the waiters brought their desserts out and slammed them on the table! The dessert was ice cream and melted by the time they had finished!
We came with our friends from America & we brought aalong a Groupon but didn't bring the full details. Our host went out of his way to help us retrieve our details on line. As we are not tech savy he spoke on the phone with our daughter who logged in & e-mailed the voucher. He kept us up to date at all times & was a fantastic host.
Terrific service and wonderful food meant we had a great night out - which unbeknown to the staff at the restaurant was much needed. There was wide variety of dishes to choose from, can highly recommend the Perfect Match (a steak and lobster dish), the Fig and Pannacotta Icecream and the Scallops Mornay. Can't wait to return.
WE WANTED TO HAVE LOBSTER AND WE DID GET LOBSTER.
I have been there a few times and can honestly say that I would recommend to everyone as the place to go for excellent food, good service and an overall most enjoyable time. I have never been disappointed with their food or service.
Being a foodie, I have enjoyed many a fine meal across both city and regional areas. I had heard the hype about the Lobster Cave, went in with high expectations. Sadly, I was disappointed. The salmon skin-crusted mains was underwhelming, my partner's pasta marinara (un-priced on the menu which ended up being $49.90) for what was received, was extremely over-priced. Overall, the prices were astronomical compared to other venues which provided more interesting food at lower costs. Disappointed
I enjoyed the whole evening with yummy calamari and a nice creme brûlée. My main was salmon in tempura batter which I found very dry. The complimentary wine was very nice.
