Great Italian food and warm atmosphere. They are planning on some upgrades in ambiance which will make it truly Italian. Nice addition to the neighborhood
All excellent and easy to have conversations!!
A lovely space with delicious food and great service
Rico was great!
The food is excellent! The staff is knowledgeable to guide you in choosing any dish with an extensive wine to go along. You will NOT be disappointed! I cannot wait to go back. The gnocchi is my favorite!!
This is a real neighborhood gem. Great Italian and superb service. This is the send time we have been here and both times were exceptional. We had pasta, meatball appetizer, artichoke appetizer, mushroom appetizer, and branzino. Everything was excellent.
This restaurant is tucked away in the Marriott Inn. You may be surprised to find such an upscale restaurant in a his hotel. But there it is and surely one you should not miss!
Great food and service; especially loved the beet salad and special pasta for the evening. Drinks were delicious.
We stopped here because we were staying at the hotel and too tired to go out. My Dad ordered a vodka martini and got one made with gin instead. I ordered a sparkling rose and got white zinfandel. The Moscow mules were very short glasses, with a lot if ice, for something crazy like $14 each. Two sips and gone. There was no Happy Hour menu, though one was advertised in the hotel elevator signage. The one thing going for this place was the food. All of our meals were good. It was not worth the price for the drinks, and the meals were priced higher than they deserved to be, but this is tolerable for the quality. I will not be going back, nor would I recommend it to friends that enjoy alcohol with their meals. If you just want to go for the pasta, you will enjoy it.
Great food, wonderful service, and an interesting menu. This all adds up to a great evening!
Second time at Locanda - love it! Tucked away in a quiet spot east of Michigan Ave, it’s a great place for quiet, delicious meal. The pastas are plate-licking-clean tasty and the chef curates a lovely seasonal menu. if you are lucky enough to have Rico as your server, you are guaranteed a nice time at this gem.
Excellent cuisine by Chef Cedicci. Imaginative preparations beautifully presented
It was our third time because it is in our neighborhood. However, it was outstanding all three times.
Overall the food was excellent! Understanding that this place is relatively new (opened in June) I read the previous reviews and went here with an expectation the service may be poor, yet still wanted to see for myself. However, the service was excellent as well. The waiter and bus boys were attentive and we did not have to wait long for our wine or food. We'll be frequenting this place often.
excellent food - great staff - a neighborhood gem. worth coming to Streeterville to experience.
The service, from hostess to waiter to chef to busboy and follow up with manager, was very conscientious and timely. The meatball starter plate was delicious in its slghtly sweet sauce accompanying desirably dense flavorful meatballs, topped with large slices of parmesan.
The gnocci with braised beef was pillowy soft, and packed with flavor. The picture below displays two desserts: goat cheese fig gelato and flourless chocolate cake with berries and bittersweet dark drizzling chocolate. Y U M!
Food was above average, but service was poor. 2st bottle of wine with cork in the wine and small bug in another glass, 2nd bottle of wine wrong (Barbara instead of nebbiolo), had to ask hostess on 2 occasions to get our waiter as he was nonexistent. Ravioli course came out with appetizers instead on entrees. Would not recommend.
The food was extremely tasty. I had the risotto langostino, and my wife had linguine.
The service, however, was absolutely awful. Our server didn't notify us of any specials, offer any drink suggestions, or even suggest an appetizer.
a runner brought our entree to us. We both finished our entrees, and our server had still not shown back up to check on us since she took our order.
when she finally did come back, she asked if we were done, and then didn't even offer dessert.
as we overheard the waiter at the next table taking care of them, we realized this was likely not the norm for the restaurant. we actually voiced Our concern to him on the way out, and he noticed us that our server was actually the manager!
we' d definitely go back for the food, but the owner of this place should be on notice that the manager is setting an absolutely awful example!
Great new restaurant, excellent menu, and wonderful service.
Stumbled on to this Italian restaurant. What a find! My husband and I have been to Italy and this stacks up to any food we had there. Every dish a gem and our server Kevin was knowledgable, attentive and friendly. All our dishes were heavenly but a few standout appetizers were the roasted beets with burrata, and the duck prosciutto with olives/gazpacho. I ordered chicken stuffed with spinach and mozzarella and the meat was surprisingly moist. My husband loved his duck breast with cherries. We will be back! Highly recommend especially if you’re looking for something off the Magnificent Mile.
Good food and nice service.
Really outstanding meal, great service, and a good value for the area.
Good food in a comfortable setting.
The cook is outstanding. We loved everything we ordered.
Our second visit with friends was not as good as first visit. Our server was very strange. Gave odd answers as to why they had no ice tea. No decaf coffee. And why service was slow. Said everyone came in at the same time. Very few tables were occupied. Food was fine but to to service we probably won’t go back.
Exemplary and attentive service combined with fresh ingredients and artistic presentation to create an outstanding dining experience. The bar is well-stocked and the wine list well matched to the menu. Worth multiple visits to explore the complete range of menu items.
The casual interior doesn’t create a Great ambiance ... food doesn’t match decor.
Food not as good as @ pane caldo!!
Good not great
‘‘This was the third time we at at Locando. Our only criticism was that the superb appetizer of crab surrounded by upright stalks of asparagus was off the menu. Everything else was terrific, moderately price and creative.
New restaurant at the Residence inn. Close by but never noticed it. Read review. Food was very good and reasonably priced. Server wasn’t real sophisticated but very nice. Pasta was delicious. Will go back.
We went because of a great review in the paper and previous knowledge of the chief. The food was very good but the service was terrible. Almost no one in the restaurant but very slow, forgot one dish and disappeared for long periods of time. Not a ruined evening but close.
We were lucky enough to get an outside table so it was relatively quiet. When it started to drizzle we were able to push the table under the eaves to stay dry (although a downpour would have been a different story. Waitstaff was friendly. Good by the glass wine list and also some interesting looking bottles.
shaved truffles on pasta were dried, probalby done earlier that day. Service was poor because of a large party... they came by repeatedly to ask if we'd been taken care of & the answer was no. not worth the trip downtown
The food is excellent here. Chef Cedicci makes top culinary authentic Italian dishes. The restaurant is in the hotel and requires upgrading. You cannot say that about the food - it is worth a serious visit. Spread the word.
Great food in an unlikely location
Cuisine is excellent as is the service. The menu changes often, which is unusual for Chicago. The outdoor seating makes Locanda extra-special.
