A wonderful meal in San Francisco. The space is elegant and the best food ever for a restaurant located within a hotel! Our server James delivered a fun, knowledgeable experience with just the right touch of casual elegance. Well done Luce!
The food was delicious. The server was great and explained every nuance to each dish. The wine pours with the tasting menu were superb in quality, pairing, and volume. The wine pairing is a great value. All 4 people at the dinner loved the food.
This was our second time eating at Luce on Thanksgiving Day and there was a lot of frustrated (and some are just angry) guest that night to say the least.
We had a reservation at 6:00PM which we showed up on time. When we try to check in, we were told that the schedule was running “a bit” late and we’d have to wait for 10-15 min so that the party at the table would wrap up, and get the table ready for us. We waited in the lobby of the hotel for a while but no one had come to inform us that our table was ready.
At 6:45PM, my husband and I went back to see if they had forgotten about us. They didn’t and we were told that the schedule was behind and they needed us to wait a little longer, and that they would come get us. At this point, my children (10 & 12 yr old) were starving but we decided to wait because we didn’t think it was possible to find another decent restaurant to have a meal at (almost) 7 o’clock on thanksgiving day. I went back to check and see at 7:05 and was told that the they are (finally) getting the table ready for us. We were seated over an hour after our reservation.
We were very disappointed with the way the maître d’hôtel handled the situation. To start with, there was no apology nor “thank you for waiting”. We realize that delay can happen because people are sometimes unpredictable - restaurant staff can get sick and they can be under staffed, some guests may stay longer than expected and cause a delay. However, if the schedule is delaying more than 60 minutes, we should’ve been informed from the beginning. There was no way that the delay happened all of the sudden at 6:00PM and we were not the only guests not getting seated at the reserved time. We would have had a different expectation (i.e. how long to wait until get seated) had we been informed HONESTLY from the beginning. We wished that the restaurant would give us more explanation.
The food was good but the whole experience was pretty miserable.
My wife and I are in San Francisco to visit our daughter for Thanksgiving. Our visit to Luce was truly a delightful experience, with excellent service and wonderful food.
The menu is well curated. We sampled the starters and enjoyed everything we tried. Gnocchi was delicate but rich and satisfying with a crunchy onion topping, the squid was flavorful with a bit of spice yet tender and delicious. From starter to dessert it was a wonderful meal.
Enjoyed the experience. Would go back. Only negative was we (party of 2) were seated on the same side of a large table. Would have preferred a small table. To be fair, we made our reservation really close to dining time, so no other tables were available.
Otherwise, food was spectacular, service was engaging but not intrusive.
Anodyne business travelers' restaurant. Fast service with expensive prices. Kind of boring. Food quality was mixed.
wonderful food and great service - dont miss it
Glad to see the restaurant has been remodeled and looked brighter. The vibe is much better and good for special occasions but also everyday dining. The food was decent and delicious. The service was good. I’d like to dine here again.
Unfortunate my wife didn’t won’t the tasting menu , so we chose from the al a carte and our waiter suggested we shared an additional starter as an intermediate course and we were please we took his advice. Each course was paired with a glass of wine and nothing disappointed . This was our last night in the USA after 18 nights touring and this was by far the best meal we had . Would strongly recommend.
We dine at Michelin star restaurants frequently . Our waiter was definitely not up to the standard we have come to expect. Cocktail orders incorrect. Dining room was not full but still service was lacking. On the other hand , the gentleman who served our food was very knowledgeable and professional. Wish he was our server instead. Luce needed a good dusting . Unfortunately we won’t return.
Truffle ravioli was wonderful, chicken breast as well. Impeccable service!
Starter dishes blue shrimp and baby octopus were delicious!
Halibut was disappointing and would not recommend...
Snapper was great and recommended...
Outstanding restaurant. Service and food impeccable.
Nice food, service a little confusing, overall it was ok.
The food was good but it was nothing special. It felt like the restaurant is stuck in the 90’s. We were expecting more from a 1 Michelin star restaurant.
Amazing tasting menu. Everything was delicious, especially the halibut . Try to get Samir's table. He is an amazing server. The wine selection is incredible.
This was a wedding anniversary dinner so expectations were high. We were not disappointed. The dishes we had were exquisite, both in flavor and presentation. Also on the basis of less is more, we found the smaller- than- usual portions to be just right for the occasion. The wait staff, who were aware of the occasion, could not have been nicer or more attentive.
Nice restaurant for business meeting
It was a pleasure to have dinner in a restaurant where one can actually hear the conversation at the table without shouting over the noise from all the other tables. The food was excellent as was the service...there when needed and not hovering. An eclectic wine list ...even by the glass. It was a very nice evening.
Tasty food, quiet ambience, great service, excellent CP value👍👍👍
Close but no cigar. At high expectations for as much as they bragged about being one star rated.
Service started off great but slowed as the dinner went on. We had to wait for 45mins to request our check. I almost stood up to ask for it. Unacceptable.
Food was OK but ultimately disappointing. I was surprised when the steak was delivered to only see two pieces for $50. They trimmed away the best parts of the steak and it was boiled vs. grilled. I had better steak at home. My friend paid $32 for small pieces of a sweet potato with garnish.
Hotel fire alarm went off while we were there. Not their doing but it reminded you that you were at a hotel restaurant paying $150 a person for a $60 a person meal.
Just OK. Save the money and go elsewhere.
Honestly, overpriced. Good food but the service was average and the lunch menu was pretty basic. I would try somewhere else for lunch.
Great chef, excellent service, ambiance does its best to overcome street-level views in a construction zone.
I am a member of the IHG Loyalty Program and only stay at their hotels so I was so looking forward to this dinner, my husband and I were in The City to celebrate our 11th wedding anniversary. Shortly after our cocktails and appetizers arrived the hotel fire alarm went off and continued to sound loudly for about 5 minutes. Once it was silenced there were strobe lights in the ceiling that continued to blink and there was a taped announcement instructing us to leave the hotel for our safety. It was very disconcerting but the waiters assured us that we didn't have to move and that "this happens all the time, someone must be smoking in their room". As much as possible, we tried to relax and enjoy the dinner but we could not, the announcement went on for about 10 minutes then was silenced but the restaurant remained dimly lit except for several bright strobe lights that were flashing repeatedly. After about 15 minutes, someone from the SF Fire Department arrived and gave the "All Clear" and things returned to a semblance of normalcy. Sadly, by this point, we had little interest in finishing our meal or dessert, we left and took an Uber to Plouf on Belden Place and had a delightful, relaxing and tasty meal there instead. It is not the hotel or staff's fault, I know things happen, I just think it could have been handled better. To their credit though, when I complained about the experience at check out, the dinner tab was removed from my bill, that is why I remain so loyal to the IHG brand and why, in spite of what happened, I would still recommend Luce to a friend.
One of the best meals I've ever had. Service was amazing.
When we got there, power of the whole block and building was out and they weren't able to cook. However they tried their best to provide the best service. We had a cocktail, a beer, and olive bread and they were so good. We will definitely come back.
We had dinner on the first day after reopening . It was a fantastic dinner. All is new in the restaurant very modern, sophisticated and cozy. We really like the style. Food was outstanding as always!!! Quality and preparing from the dishes was unbelievable good!!! Intercontinental hotel has to be proud to have such a genius chef!! We will come back!!
The staff let us enjoy the meal and ambience for 4 hours. I felt like I was in a 3 Michelin star Paris restaurant, with their attention to detail and enthusiasm with sharing the knowledge of the dishes being served and making suggestions. One of the folks serving us , noticed my water glass was empty, based on how I was holding the glass. He immediately refilled. That’s attention to detail. I’ve enjoyed coming here for business dinners and personal dinners. Love the ambience of the RE-opening.
I ate things I normally wouldn’t and really enjoyed them! The food was impeccable as was the service!
Total Experience!!
Great service and great food. Lunch menu had few options than I expected. I want to go back to try their dinner menu.
El lugar, la comida y la atención son excepcionales
The food is outstanding, esp. the steak. Ambiance is modern and fine. The service is good. The only problem is the food prep. takes a long time. The menu is a bit limited as well.
Although pricey ... this may be the best brunch I've ever had. The quality and variety of offerings was truly exceptional. The service was extremely attentive without being intrusive. And while the setting was sophisticated, it was also very comfortable. It was the perfect destination for Mother's Day brunch.
We went for the 9 course tasting menu. Three people at our table requested that the duck be switched for another dish. Unfortunately, instead of offering a red meat, the chef proposed a fish which considering that the menu included prawns, diver scallops and salmon (and oysters as amuse-bouche) was a bit too much. Otherwise, good.
An eminently reasonable price for a tasting menu in which virtually all dishes were imaginately conceived and absolutely delicious. (My only quibbles: the salmon confit could have had more taste, and it would probably have been better to serve the more delicate dish of scallops before the sphagetti with uni, which have a stronger taste and lead up better to the fabulous magret dish.) Friendly, attentive (on the whole) service; clean, refined decor; and remarkable food, well worthy of its Michelin star. Memories of this meal will linger for a long time.
This is a nice restaurant with a good ambiance. The restaurant serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. The dinner menus is a bit limited but the food is generally good. Service however could be improved. It is rushed and a bit inattentive.
I’m so glad I found Luce. I’m visiting San Francisco for the first time and I wanted to try local restaurants. The service was amazing (thanks, Keith!) and every bite of each dish was perfect. I had the butternut squash appetizer and the truffle ravioli — make sure you have a piece of their bread to soak up the truffle sauce! I also had the elderflower dessert. The cocktails were delicious and refreshing. They’ve definitely earned their Michelin.
This was our first time here and we left beyond impressed w the service and the food. Our waiter was so attentive and accommodating to my garlic allergy and Miguel tried every single time to make sure our plates were removed and our table was clean. We would def recommend this place to our friends and family. We are planning to bring family for dads birthday celebration.
