Valentine’s Day. Walk in the door. We have reservations. But, alas, they over booked and had us wait at the bar. 5 mins go by, they over us a drink menu to look at, 10 mins passed, they still haven’t addressed when we will be seated or even ask for our drink orders, let alone offer to buy us a round for the awful inconvenience of making us wait almost 30 mins after our reservation on Valentine’s Day. Good thing my partner was understand. We thanked them and left before we could put up
with any more. We were excited to try this restaurant and heard good things but I can help feeling very slighted by them.
Meat was too fatty. Desert seemed supermarket bought. Cappuccino cold. Service slow.
The food was excellent and the server was polite and attentive
We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves ... The lobster bisque was the runaway winner!
Very poor quality food
Expensive dishes
Gnocchi super salty, not able to eat it
Beautiful hidden gem in Sea Cliff. Restaurant is clean and the food is excellent. Menu is seasonal so you always want to come back and try new items. The bacon and peanut butter sounds odd but is a favorite. Staff is super friendly as well. Must try!
The best quality food experience in the area. Every item on the menu is prepared to perfection. Equivalent to a NYC attention to quality and detail in our own backyard. Great go-to alternative to the sceny regular spots in Roslyn / Manhasset areas. Good to switch it up once in a while (and support a real small business).
I found this restaurant on Opentable and decided to try it because of its seasonal menu. It was fabulous!! We were with friends celebrating my husbands birthday and everything from the apps to dessert was so delicious!! I highly recommend this restaurant!
Delicious tasting food & presentation. Very unique variations on traditional dishes. Great service
We are happy they are still open during this difficult time..... best branzino I ever ate! support local businesses!!
Fantastic gastro experience!!
Great service and food
Amazing!!!
The food and service was outstanding. The M and M sampler is a must try! The gnocchi was out of this world... I will definitely be back soon.
I brought my mom here for brunch after being a few times for dinner. We both ordered the biscuits and sausage gravy which was absolutely delicious! We also started with the honey ricotta toast which was very flavorful and tasty! Overall great experience and will definitely be back!
This was not my first time dining at Maldon & Mignonette and as usual , the experience was beyond my expectations. I love that Chef Rob changes the menu each season, there are so many new tastes to explore.
I have been very nervous about ordering take out or eating curbside since March. Chef Rob has adhered to the CDC guidelines without fail and because of his commitment to his customers health, I went there first.
I ordered take out lunch of his amazing lobster roll, my friends got cheeseburgers and grilled cheese sandwiches. They were all fantastic.
I realize that we are all living through this Covid nightmare and we all need to understand and demand that restaurants have a big responsibility to keep their customers safe.
Maldon & Mignonette has followed and exceeded the CDC guidelines . I was there again for brunch outside last week and we feasted on French Toast , seasonal frittata , and egg avocado toast, it was presented well and tasted amazing. We even got to try the vegan chocolate dessert(you should try it!)
I obviously love this restaurant, the workers and especially the charismatic , talented Chef Rob. I’ll be back to try out your entire fall menu.
I typically do not write reviews but after my experience I felt compelled to spread the word.
First I would like to say, the owner Rob was amazing! He is also the chef who made a point to come out and greet every table at one point in the night. He was so personable and a delight. The staff was extremely attentive and knowledgeable about the food and the wines. Our dinner was unique and spectacular in taste and presentation. I was told the menu changes seasonally, which I love! The wine list was also as wonderful, not the same everyday stuff you see in stores. The restaurant itself was warm, cozy and so tastefully decorated. This is now my new favorite place, this gem of a restaurant is tucked away in beautiful sea cliff but so worth the drive.
Thank you for a memorable evening!!
It’s so wonderful to see a restaurant of this caliber really caring about guests during this Pandemic. The restaurant was so clean, I felt safe and valued, and my meal was truly incredible. I love the vibe of this place and my husband and I were able to enjoy ourselves (at a safe appropriate distance from other guests) and our meal in a carefree way we haven’t been able to in months. That bacon appetizer 🤤 I already want to come back for more. Love that the menu changes through the seasons, gives us a reason to come back again and again.
We have eaten at the restaurant and this Saturday was a return visit. Chef Robert and staff deliver creative & exceptional food.
Nice ambience. Inconsistent service. Appetizer served before drinks. No bread provided until first course served. Staff seemed confused. Very limited menu but interesting selections.
We love this place— the preparation is not “traditional “ - he puts his own spin on things- so you may need to try a few different things.. the pork chop is amazing (and i don’t like pork) but made my husband share... the scallops were out of this world! Now I’ve previously had the lasagna- and really disliked it.... i am so glad we came back— we are coming back again in 2 weeks with friends!!
The food started great. The bacon and peanuts were to die for. The steak tartar special was delicious. My wife and I both had the duck. The breast was overcooked and a little dry. The leg tasted and looked like boiled chicken. It was soggy and tasteless. The desert ginger cake, cookie and ice cream was good. The cake would have been superb if it had pecans or walnuts instead of raisins. I like raisins but they were way too heavy and chewy for such a light cake. Service was lost. It seemed like one waitress for the whole restaurant. They were counting on bus boys and the chef to do a lot. I ordered a glass of wine. When I finished it the bus boy took the glass and I was never offered another. I was finally able to track down the waitress and ask for another. When that was finished the same thing happened. I was going to get a third, but didn't. Not going back. Doesn't seem worth it.
I cannot stop thinking about the duck that melted in my mouth like butter. Unbelievable.
Mike was our waiter and excellent.
Criminal Minds was on at the bar and that was pretty great.
Cannot wait to return!
Seated right away, food and service were excellent.
Sadly main meals and desserts were a disappointment. Pork chop was on the fringe of cooked. Homemade ice cream was gluey. Salad and Steak Tartare were good.
Enjoyed a delicious dinner this evening from beginning to end and thrilled to find a new restaurant close to home. The atmosphere is cozy and casual with a fresh upscale menu. A perfect combination. Our server Mike was welcoming, happily answered our questions as we selected our meal options. We started with the lobster bisque and bacon and PB appetizers. Definitely forget about your cholesterol and have the bacon appetizer; such a unique combination and delicious. The lobster bisque was fresh and I regret not taking a bowl to go for lunch tomorrow. Main dishes were pappardelle bolognese and tender duck. Dessert was orange creme brûlée and white, milk and dark chocolate mousse. We learned all the pasta are made in house and the fresh ingredients are evident for all the dishes we enjoyed. The chef did make the rounds and it is always nice to meet the person behind the creations. Looking forward to repeat visits!
Chef Rob is squarely in Italy most of the time. When he gets innovative, it becomes more country French. His preparations and Seasoning is uniquely good, and all dishes are well thought.
This chef owner is proud of what comes out of the kitchen.
Excellent across the board! Food, service, atmosphere—all excellent. The best kept secret in the neighborhood! Run...don’t walk.
Wonderful service & food. Love how the waiters & chef really make the effort to personalize each diner’s experience with tailored service & recommendations. The food is excellent - top notch ingredients, homemade pasta, & modern takes on classic dishes. Thank you for a wonderful dining experience!
We had a lovely meal - everything was great, especially their pasta “mortadella” - recommend this restaurant wholeheartedly
Food is delicious, the staff is so friendly. Would def return many times over.
Wonderful food. Everything on the menu is fabulous.
Nice restaurant but reviews are overrated. Good service but food just ok. We all agreed nice to try but would not go back in near future.
Maldon & Mignonette is a neighborhood gem! From the generous parking facilities to the warm and sincere reception, I knew this visit to Maldon & Mignonette would be the first of many. The service was impeccable, and the food deliciously outstanding. I could not have been happier with the experience. Many thanks to all who made our evening absolutely delightful!
Everything was delicious from start to finish! We will definitely go back.
We were greeted at the door by a young man who held the door open for us and said welcome! We were then asked if we would prefer any seating. We chose the corner table which was very cozy. We couldn't decide on a wine and the waitress brought us out different samples of wines to taste. She brought us the perfect wine! We were then greeted by the chef who introduced himself and welcomed us. My wife chose the duck and I the scallops. My wife said to me that this is the place to get duck, it is delicious! My scallops were also prepared perfectly. I must also say that the lobster bisque soup was amazing. If you want a wonderful place to have dinner, try Maldon & Mignonette. You will enjoy this quaint little place in Sea Cliff. The décor was very pleasing and felt just perfect!
First time here for dinner with family and had a wonderful meal. We tried many menu items including Short ribs with polenta, the duck soup, bolognese pasta - loved everything except the salad which needed seasoning and dressing — desserts were great as well. We will be back!
Wonderful, Cozy dinner on a winter evening!
Great service and atmosphere. Food was terrific. What a great and much needed addition to Sea Cliff! Felt like we were eating in a West Village City restaurant. Chef has a personal and unique take on every dish. He is very attentive and friendly.
Love it and will definitely return!
