Founded in 1996 the ideas for the Marblehead Chowder House were actually hatched a few years before. Sitting at "The Barnacle," overlooking Marblehead Harbor one raw winter day, while the spume from the rough saltwater painted the windows and the Sam Adams Lager flowed freely, a concept was born. Casual, coastal and cozy - fresh seafood, fin fish, shellfish and hearty chowders in a warm, relaxing atmosphere that says "seaside" - a place that had tradition, patriotism, and a New England heritage about it. Fresh ingredients, house-made soups and chowders, comfort food with a twist freshly prepared to order were all musts! Features unique to New England were the foundation – Ipswich Belly Clams (aka steamers, softshells, pissers), fresh Lobster Roll, a Raw Bar with half-shell oysters and clams and, of course, live Lobsters arriving regularly. Lighthouses and other nautical décor highlight the ambience to create a coastal dining experience like none other in the greater Lehigh Valley.

    I saw other waiters read special of board to everyone that was sat down. Ours did not we only got Menus to choose from no greetings like all others. Did not check on us for refills at all. I had to get his attention. Very bad experience compacted to the two prior times we were there. I chose this for my Father’s Day diner and unfortunately came out disappointed.

    Went for first time on a busy Father’s Day. Good service and all of our food was tasty. Would recommended. Reminded us of type of place you find down the shore

    It was a great experience, the food was gooooodddd, the waitress was very nice! The place is beautiful, the music, the atmosphere was good. Everything was perfect! For sure I will come back 😊

    The food and the service was very good. The Tuesday night buck a shuck oysters are always amazing! Second time we sat in the dining room by the fireplace and it was freezing… asking not to be seated there again.

    This was another great meal at Marblehead. The menu is vast and they have great specials that change every night. The crab soup was great...but filling, we shared a bowl. Our food was well seasoned and presented. The service was excellent - our server, Alex was very attentive and knowledgeable. She recommended the bread pudding for desert. We shared a mighty portion, it was well worth the calories. We'll be back.
