    I’m a former Gasligh regular, and was delighted to see the space refreshed and the food much improved. This most recent French restaurant in that location is great. And there’s parking, so this is my go-to for meeting with people who live in the burbs

    The interior is very cute and cozy. My bloody mary was spicy and delicious. We split the croque madame and the quiche - both were outstanding. The quiche was honestly the best I've ever had. Thank you for an amazing brunch!

    Averall, a good experience. Two things that the restaurant should address: 1) trying to pass for a French restaurant, the frites should be skinny, not the regular, frozen size that every restaurant in America serves as regular French fries. 2) Should hire a couple more waiters. The wait for EVERYTHING, from drinks to appetito main courses to bill, was very, very long… As a European, I enjoyed not feeling rushed but then there’s a limit to how long you wait for your waiter to show up… 😉

    We overall enjoyed our dinner. With the exception of an entree that was forgotten, for which we received many apologies, everything was good. Service was friendly! Surprising, not even a cocktail was offered complimentary. We would however return.

    Really enjoyed our meal ! The Moules et Frites were delicious, and the cheese plate was very nice, but the waiter didn’t know what cheeses were on it when we asked, nor did the server name them when she brought the plate, so it was a guessing game. The burrata was a nice appetizer, as was the mezze plate. It was also nice that we could linger a bit and didn’t feel rushed, making the evening with friends more pleasant. We would go again.

    We have lived with this location through two other iterations, and Marseille is by far the best of them. The interior is slightly modified, but the current owners have retained many of the first establishment's (Gaslight) decorative elements, especially the mirrors and the zinc bar. The food prep and presentation are exemplary; the Chips Maison are huge, thickly hand-cut potato slices that were clearly just prepared (they arrived hot), and the accompanying onion dip contains real onion slices; the Panier (viennoiseries & baguettes) are quite good, we gave the croissants 8 or 9 (10 = absolute best). And the omelettes! We thought that Jacques Pepin was in the kitchen cooking them for us. The wine selection is appropriate for a bistrot -- some by-the-glass, and on two pages instead of a huge binder that some restaurants offer -- very accessible. The service is top-notch; attentive but not annoying. In brief, one of the best brunches that we have enjoyed outside of France.

    Tacky decor not the slightest reminiscent of Marseille. Immature, somewhat unprofessional service. Good cocktails. Bland underseasoned Brandade served with tasty carrots. Moules frites totally non-traditional. A skimpy portion served with too salty frites. Scallops well-cooked, but lacked south-of-France sauce. Nice roast chicken. Limited wine-by-glass menu, but it included a Sancerre and Chablis which was good. So many better places in the South End.

    First time visit, had high expectations but was disappointed. Cocktails were good. Small plates selected were not as flavorful as would be expected. Ice cream and chocolate desert was served far too cold, so cold it was almost impossible to get a spoon into and reduced the ice cream flavor.

    As a fan of Gas Light and the great space, I was hoping for a better experience. The food was ok. I did like the tuna app and the buratta. The entrees were over salted and lacking any exciting flavor. The mussel's were fair, lacking flavor and not served with a bowl for shell or even some bread to soak up the broth.

    I really enjoyed my experience at Marseille. It was a beautiful night so we were able to sit outside on the patio. Patio is quite large and tables are nice and spread out. The food was fantastic and the service was great. Would recommend to friends and look forward to go back.

    The service was very good, our waitress was excellent! The food was pretty good but not at the level Gas Light was in this location. I would go back but the mussels were just average at best. We only had a couple of items, so need to try more dishes to get a better read on this place.

    Food was great. So was patio. They were out of a few things tho, which on a short menu is kind of a bummer. Servers were super nice but coffee was cold and they weren’t totally familiar with the offerings or how to explain them. Still, I’d go back—it was yummy.

    My branzino fish dish was cooked fine but very under-seasoned. My friend ordered a mussels for dinner and received a small tasteless appetizer portion. The foie gras was of good quality but ruined with heavy sauce poured all over it. The pork pate had no flavor but also seemed of good quality. In summary, we experienced a lot of good ingredients with very poor execution from menu planning to plate on the table.

    Nice decor and ok food but unfortunately our experience was somewhat ruined by the chaos of the service. The food came out quickly but we ordered 4 glasses of wine with our entrees that didn’t arrive until we were almost done eating. Our waitress kept blaming the bar but we could see it from our seats and the bartenders were chatting and didn’t seem remotely rushed or stressed. I understand that it’s hard to hire people in food service these days but having your wait staff have a script ready to go to preemptively apologize for how the restaurant has never been busier and they don’t have experience working in fine dining is not a good look.

    Lovely setting. They've done a good job of sprucing the place since Gaslight/Brasserie. But it was incredibly loud. We went for dinner and my ears were still ringing the next morning. The onion soup was bland and the creme brûlée was grainy, but the service was lovely.

    The food was fine, but nowhere near as flavorful as it could have been. It took almost 30 minutes for our cocktails to arrive and they weren’t very good when we eventually got them. We had to ask our server three times for the bottle of wine we ordered. It arrived after we had finished dinner. The couple next to us waited 45 minutes between getting their appetizers and their entrées. It’s a fantastic space, but the quality of the food needs to live up to its descriptions and management needs to get the place running more smoothly.

    This was our first visit and we were very pleased. The food was very good overall. The wine list was interesting with choices from around the world. The service was friendly and attentive if a little inexperienced. The room is chic and very French. We will definitely return. Highly recommended.

    What a great place this is. Originally from Marseille I appreciate the authentic fares, the quality of the food. The ambiance is great too, they took everything that was right about gaslight and turned it up to 11. A new neighborhood staple.

    We came for a light dinner and were pleasantly surprised by the tuna carpaccio tartare starter and then enjoyed the octopus. The service was excellent - thank you to our server Max! It was a lovely Saturday night and I’ll definitely be back!

    Wait staff was a little lacking in experience. Ordered a bottle of French red wine and they took about 20 minutes and two return visits to confirm the selected bottle. Then I found that they decided they need to ice the bottle down because the do not have cellar storage. My guess is that it was stored in a warmer than ambient temp location because it was pretty warm when I insisted the open it (icing it would have taken at least another 15 min to do anything). Of 8 courses we ordered, two were excellent, rotisserie chicken, and steak brochette, but the steak had to be sent back for a replacement because it tasted like it has been cooked several times and left sitting, was cold and mealy. The prawns were OK, but the sauce was overpowering and everything a little overcooked. The boullabaise was inedible. Everything else was meh at best, the bread they brought out initially was nothing like a French bistro should ever serve, just very ordinary, dense, doughy. The worst was when the brought the bill, I noticed they overcharged for the wine by $130. I asked the waiter to correct it, his reply literally was, "oh yeah, I noticed that just as I was delivering the bill, I'll get that adjusted". Come ON!!!! Wouldn't repeat this one.

    Sometimes you judge a place not for what they do right, but for how they respond when things go wrong. My wife's swordfish came out dry (it was a thin piece, easy to overcook). When we told them about it, they immediately remade the fish, checked in with us several times to apologize and see if we were OK, and took it off the bill. They also gave us a special little treat with our dessert as we were celebrating our anniversary. The food was all very good, nothing transcendent. The dining room has a nice vibe, thought it is loud and could use some sound dampening. All in all a very pleasant experience.

    We are so happy to have a French restaurant in that spot. Wait staff was very attentive. French onion soup was delicious as was the fattouch salad. We enjoyed our entrees as well. We will be back!
