We booked reservations at 7:30 and didn't get sat until after 8p. Once we arrived to the dining room, we were greeted with several (approx. 60%) of tables that were not occupied and the capacity of the city officially opened to 100% inside on the same day (Jun 15). I find it very ridiculous to make reservations and still have to wait to be seated with the restaurant having the occupancy to seat each guest that was waiting. Additionally, if I am paying top dollar to eat a wonderful meal, the hostess should have pre-reserved seating ready and available for when the restaurant opens at 5p. Having worked in this industry and eaten at Mastros Malibu and Hollywood, this service entering into the restaurant needs a lot of work.
Six of us enjoyed a delicious meal celebrating a birthday. Restaurant has beautiful interior. Our server was top notch— very gracious and professional.

The whole experience was very disappointing. My wife and I enjoy a good upscale steakhouse and this was our first time at Mastros. My wife ordered wedge salad and Waygu New York steak I ordered the Jumbo Lobster tail (22 oz) and 3 sides. We never received the salad. My wife ordered steak medium and it came out very rare and my lobster was over cooked on top dry and crunchy and bottom was raw. Had to send both back to be cooked further. Shouldn’t have to send back top quality meats to be cooked again. The bread was good.
Beware of the 20% mandatory tip. They charged me 25%.
Food was great. Staff was attentive. Ambience was very good.
This was an absolute amazing experience. The ambience, food, and service were excellent. I will definitely be coming back.
Other than the music coming out of the speakers being too loud, it was perfect. I've been to many Mastros down in southern California and this one in SF was by far the nicest!!! Beautiful lighting, spectacular bathrooms, everything was great
This was our first time here. My boyfriend and I came to celebrate our 10 year anniversary. The food was the most amazing food we have been had, the service was fantastic. The ambiance was excellent and our server Brain made our visit very special at the end with desert that had “Happy Anniversary 10 years” written in chocolate on the plate. Couldn’t have asked for a better experience.
The server was terrible. Inattentive, unpleasant and rude. We paid for our food and chose not to tip. As we exited he ran downstairs cornered us from exiting forcing to leave Gratuity. It was only two of us we did not have to tip, he insisted we must pay gratuity on the bill which was 20%. Our actual was 250 but he said we must pay 298. We felt pressured and cornered so we paid it to exit and leave the hostile situation .

The experience at Mastro’s was top notch. Pascal our server was very friendly, attentive, and knew the menu so well. The food was delicious and prepared perfectly. Definitely will be back again.

I was told I could sit by the window table by Brandon and I told him I needed to use the restroom. When I returned, the Manager walked over to my table and told me I had to leave and they have another party coming to this table. I waited for 1 hour for my food and I waited for 30 minutes for my boxes to go and another 20 minutes for my check. In additional I was celebrating my birthday and I did not even get a birthday cake offer or anything. Also I was forced to pay 20% gratuity I truly believe I got zero service to poor service. -Amy
Oysters were superb. Steaks were the best we ever had - with the bone marrow butter on top. The sides were excellent - creamed corn and creamed spinach. Dessert was special. Cocktails were unique in a good way and generous. Truly wonderful meal!

Everything was great, but I didn’t like how the entire kitchen were pushing carts through where we were eating that were full sodas, plates, linens, etc. Also after 9:30, it’s pretty dead.
Food was immaculate. Servers and service were phenomenal. The enviorment is open and lively. We spoke to the manager Brian, he was super friendly and welcoming and made our experience even better.
Our service was sub-par. Often we were forgotten about and had to flag our waitress down. Also, unbeknownst to us, they reduced their menu. As a long time diner to Mastro’s it was disappointing as I was unable to enjoy my favorites like the Mastro’s salad and even a baked potato. My lobster was just too buttery upon arrival, which was unusual. Oh! And they don’t allow you to being your own wine any longer, which they blame on covid but that doesn’t make sense. Overall, for $500 a couple, it was not worth it. Very disappointing as Mastro’s has been my husband’s favorite restaurant for years. We likely won’t be back to this location.
we had a very weird experience here ... we asked for our steak cooked med-rare & my fiancé’s steak was almost raw ... very unpleasant to bite into they took it back to cook it more & after 2 minutes came out with the same looking steak ... our server was a upset we didn’t want to try what he was suggesting & after we declined he had an attitude the whole night.. so overall the night was unpleasant.

Probably the best filet I’ve ever had.
I just have one huge gripe with this place. They write parking at mason garage is "validated" if we park there. So despite plenty street parking we went.
Parking is $15/5 hrs.
We asked to validate when leaving the restaurant. They said do it at the garage. When we went the attendant gave us a ticket. It was $16 (what happened to $15?) and the validation was $1 off. ONE DOLLAR OFF FOR A $300+ MEAL.
What a ripoff.

Our food and service from our server was amazing. I had been looking forward to eating here for awhile. I didn’t realize there was a dress code which is fine as we were already planning to dress up. During my confirmation call, the staff reiterated the strict dress code. All throughout dinner, I observed multiple people dining who were not in dress code. I don’t mind that but was rubbed the wrong way when they made a big deal about the dress code prior to us arriving but not enforcing it. Our dinner tho was amazing and our server was outstanding! We had a great time and enjoyed everything we ate. We were even treated to a surprise dessert as we were celebrating our engagements. When we were leaving and waiting for our Lyft, we stayed inside the lobby and saw yet another guest not in dress code allowed to dine. We overheard another couple in the lobby talking about how they were not enforcing the dress code so we were casually chatting with them about it. The hostess snapped at us and rudely asked us not to yell across the lobby. This ruined my experience at Mastro’s. If you want to enforce a particular ambiance, you should not have a hostess that quickly snaps at your patrons. Because of her, I will never dine here again or recommend it to anyone. Such a shame as the food was delicious and our service while dining was great.
It was ok just when we first got there one of the hostess called the manager down to ask who was the party planner because we should’ve told the people coming no adidas sweats weren’t allowed . My niece didn’t have on adidas sweats they were leggings that had 2 white lines going down the side. I felt like that was rude being some other lady that went in right before us had on something similar . I started to leave feeling discriminated on but due to it being my daughter graduation dinner we stayed. The manager kept coming by us as if he was checking up on us. I do know we will not be visiting that establishment again and I do work for the City of SF so I will pass this right along to my colleagues so they won’t go there as well.
Delicious food, exceptional service, nice ambiance. We were seated on the top (3rd) floor, next to the window. There are heaters if needed. Family of 4: 2 drinks, 3 steaks (Japanese A5 Wagyu was the winner!), chillean seabass, 3 sides, dessert + tax + tip $620. Pricey but worth it. Will be back!
The food was the best we’ve had in a long time. It was a birthday dinner which might account for being seated in a side room which was quiet but would have preferred main room seating. Food was spectacular which is the more important point here.
Great at table service but some of the worst greeting service ever from hostess Stephanie. Shockingly rude and almost cartoonish.

Slow start and drinks were not timely however our host was gracious enough to comp them. The steaks were excellent, lobster cocktail was so-so.
