Located in the historic Brewery District, Matt and Tony's Woodfired Kitchen has a warm and comfortable atmosphere coupled with friendly and casual service. We have an ample covered patio for times of temperate weather. Most of our signature items are prepared on our wood fired grill which creates a rich and slightly smoky flavor profile. Wood fired entrees include several Steak options, Barbecued Ribs, Salmon and Pork Chops. Along with these delicious entrees we also have several Pasta dishes and a wide variety of salad options. Of course, we also offer several appetizers as well as a full service bar , featuring an ample choice of wines by the glass or bottle.

    Made reservation through Open Table, and the place was CLOSED! CLOSED....CLOSED!, with no working phone to tell us anything

    It was closed permanently when we arrived. Reservations are still being taken.

    Wanted to go before they closed. Will miss their brunch the most. It was excellent and a great value.

    Normally would have left a better review, but the service was not good, waited almost an hour for our food (ribs, steak) and it was cold when we finally got it!

    Great casual restaurant. A little tricky to get to with the road closures but worth the efforts.

    This was our first time at Matt & Tony's on Short Street. We sat outside on the patio, and it was a beautiful night. The only part of the inside we saw was the bar area, and it was very loud. But it was a Saturday night, so that might mean it's not always that loud. The food was pretty good, and the waiter was pleasant. I told the young waiter that I couldn't eat garlic or onion, so he said he'd tell the kitchen. Unfortunately, there had to have been garlic in one of the two dishes I had because I was up very late that night taking my stomach medicine to get over the pain in my stomach. So that made this first trip to this restaurant less than outstanding.

    The only problem I had was the lady on the patio with her dog while she and all of her friends kept petting it. And dog hair flying over everybody outside.

    Various side dishes were not available. The substitute dishes arrive well after the main dish. But I’d still come back

    Busy Saturday evening @ 6 pm. There were limited water cups, got styrofoam. My bill was very high for not great service & worst food. We were rushed & noise level kept server from hearing us most of time. Very sad that it wasn’t a great experience.

    We come here quite frequently, and Friday I did not see the owners however our waiter was great as usual but the kitchen was a mess. Soupy Mac & cheese for my granddaughter. Cold bake potato, broccoli was so soft it was mush and the fennel chicken was covered in herbs, not to mention they did not bring out the desert for restaurant week. We were told there is new kitchen staff and ask to be patient in which we were. We have always had great service & food here so my thoughts is wait a bit then try again. Definitely not on point and was not was we’re use to when visiting Matt & Tony’s

    It was stuffy inside the restaurant. Our waiter was great. The drinks were excellent. The French dip and fried were great as well as the salads. The appetizers were not great. Overall would recommend!

    We have been to Matt and Tony's numerous times, and always had great food and service. We brought two friends this night from KY, and this time everything was terrible. I should note there were very few diners when we sat down. The service was poor, the server was clearly overwhelmed and couldn't give us the service we have come to expect. Even for salads it seemed to take a very long time. The main meal was awful. Two of us had the fish and chips. The fish was burnt and the fries also burnt. I had the night's special, General Tso's chicken, which I always like at Chinese restaurants. Here the rice was gluey; the chicken sauce was salty, and the broccoli was served around the dish instead of mixed in; it had no taste whatsoever. I don't know what happened, but it was extremely disappointing, especially since when we visit these friends in KY, they take us to a fine steak house, so this was horrible. I did like my beet salad when it did arrive.

    The place was nearly empty at 7pm, so our reservations were definitely not necessary. While sitting at our booth seat, a centipede went running across the wall and we couldn’t find where it went, so we changed seats. The next booth we sat in had a spider web stretching from the wall to booth. The food, while it tasted okay, seemed way overpriced. That aside, our waiter was great. He was very nice and helpful. He suggested we change seats and helped move our things. I kind of feel bad for the wait staff because I don’t know how they’re getting paid properly based on how dead it was in there. The location of this restaurant isn’t great either. It’s behind the Brewer’s Yard Kroger and you have to drive through a bunch of construction areas to get to it. I won’t be going back here, unfortunately.

    Save your money for a different date night spot. The food was cold when we finally received it and the waitress blamed it on the wind since we were sitting outside, instead of the fact that it wasn’t brought to the table when it was ready. Way overpriced for the quality of service and quality of food.

    We went on a Monday around 6:00. Happy Hour was until 7 but for only drinks. There were five of us, two of which got the special and both of those dishes (General Tso's chicken) tasted as if they were cooked in old or stale oil. The dishes were relatively bland. The other three dishes were rated as good. The waiter was responsive.
