Mia Passione - River Grove
Great food, large portions, friendly server.
Reasonably priced for excellent food. The wait staff was incredibly friendly and helpful
Sort of hidden in plain sight, you could easily miss it. Parking was off - signs directed you through an alley into a municipal lot, then it's in though the back door. Not busy on this Memorial Day weekend night, so it was quiet and easy to talk to table-mates. We enjoyed the flavors (tilapia, caprese salad were very tasty), and our wonderful hostess, Sammie, recommended wine that was very good and well-priced. We plan to visit again.
This place is the definition of "Hidden Gem". Reminds me of the little family run Italian restaurants in the North Bronx we used to frequent many years ago. Romantic, friendly, and family feel that will bring us back.
Great restaurant! Food is the best I've tasted. Every time I go, I'am always happy. The people are really friendly. Clean restaurant and fresh food.
Great food and really great service. Small and comfortable. The chicken Marsala and meat lasagne were delicious! Great wine and drinks. Will be back
Enjoyed our dinner there, waitress was helpful for making selections. Everyone in our group had a wonderful meal!
We found Mia Passione through Open Table and would concur that it is a hidden gem. Our service was impeccable and the food was delicious. Everything was hot and fresh and authentically Italian. We recommend the meatballs, Parmesan potatoes, and Marsala sauce. We will be back.
Fantastic food and service. We went on a Sunday, so it was pretty quiet, only about half full. We had some amazing appetizers - clams, and sausage and peppers. We were all very happy with our entrees. Plenty of food too. Prices are reasonable. Love the black, wavy walls and the pizza oven. I would definitely return.
Sam treats her customers like family; the food is incredible.
Excellent experience all around. Will definitely be returning.
Sam is the perfect hostess, the food is awesome. Sam mixes the best martini's and knows and remembers her customers. She is awesome and her customers are treated like family.
Mia Passione is a great little gem of a restaurant. The service is warm and friendly, the owners are frequently present, making their customers feel right at home and they are willing to many different needs. It is a small place, great for intimate dinners, family gatherings, or anything in between. The food is outstanding, my favorite is the grouper with the roasted potatoes. Lamb chops are another big hit also, as well as an extensive wine list. I highly recommend this place!
Never been here before always go to that other place next-door wanted to give this a try very modern upbeat yet authentic Italian. When you walk in a wonderful aroma of garlic hits you and then comes the warm garlic bread pieces served with oil and cheese. Sammy Our server made you feel like an old friend like you wanted her to sit down and join you she knew the menu inside and out and explained how things were per paired . Started off with the fresh mozzarella warm and comforting. Chicken marsala was the best I’ve ever had! My sister had a chicken dish lemon and capers can’t remember the name of it but it was amazing. And the very best part are the garlic potatoes never had anything like this they are to die for.
Topped it off with cappuccinos for dessert will definitely be back. Had to try the gravy so got an order of meatballs to go,had them the next day They were better than expected sorry I didn’t get an order of those potatoes as well.
Delicious meal with my family!
Can't say anything negative about Mia Passione. Food is excellent, service exceptional, parking is convenient.
Guy Thank you for your positive review and Thank you for your business
Great service and great food!
Mia Passione provides a wonderful meal, prepared fresh, comes to you steaming hot. Everything is tasty, especially the grouper, lamb chops, roasted potatoes, and spinach. Although I have never had it, I hear the pizza is outstanding as well. It has nice ambiance, service is attentive, but overly-so. It is a small restaurant, good for small groups, but I understand they can accommodate larger parties. I would highly recommend it.
Fantastic waitress great food and a very nice atmosphere
We had the salmon with a side of these delicious potatoes. Due to a Football game, the restaurant was empty and we had the server’s full attention. I would go again.
Wonderful meal- HUGE portions! Great service- Sam (Samantha) is a wealth of knowledge.
Great neighborhood restaurant find!
Nice little place on Grand in River Grove with easy parking (free parking lot next door). Excellent Italian food, with many veggie options. Good selection of wines, with by-the-glass options.
40 miles from home for Mount Carmel / Fenwick game we stopped in for dinner before the game. Absolutely wonderful! Service was great and food was as well. Will be going back!
Always great food and service.
Mia Passione is several cuts above most restaurants in this neighborhood in terms of both food and service. Shrimp ravioli with arrabbiata sauce featured large, pristinely fresh shrimp in perfectly cooked pasta with a well-balanced spicy sauce. My husband loved the pork chops - excellent cut of expertly cooked pork with great accompaniments. Portion sizes are very large in deference to what's expected in this area. It is true, as others have said, that the restaurant is somewhere between fine dining and a sports bar. It's beautifully decorated - but with several large televisions. I find this unique and kind of charming, actually. It's a very comfortable dining experience. Service by Sam was friendly, yet very polished.
Some reviewers have mentioned that the prices are high for the neighborhood. If you're looking for 2 pounds of spaghetti for $9.95, this is not your place. If you value excellent food and service, you had better get over here before the restaurant raises prices, cuts portions in half and moves out the the west loop, where it would fit in nicely.
We’ve had dinner at Mia Passione, River Grove several times and have never been disappointed. Our waitress( I believe her name is Sam) is always so attentive, family friendly and makes some great drinks! She gave our two year old granddaughter a popsicle and comped tiramisu and a tortufo to celebrate our son’s birthday. We had 5:30 reservations but had the restaurant to ourselves?? The prices aren’t bad for decent portions and home cooked Italian food. This place must be the best kept secret in the neighborhood - we highly recommend trying Mia Passione!
Samantha is the most awesome waitress
I've ever had, she knows her food and her drinks best Italian restaurant in the area.
Samantha is a awesome waitresses and the food is great , Karen is a awesome hostess ,we love this place so much we drive from Aurora IL to come here to River Grove IL
This place is absolutely the best.
The wife left the restaurant arrangements to me. I came across Mia Passione. Though a fan of Italian I haven't been to many establishments. I glanced at the menu and saw a picture of the dining area and figured it deserved a chance. A chance that I was happy to take. It was a family affair so this time our kids attended. And the server even took a picture of us next to the pizza oven. All in all it was a worthy dining experience.
We absolutely love this place. The staff is wonderful and the food has always met our expectations. It’s also a good place to watch sports or a movie on one of the many televisions.
Sam is a gracious hostess, the food is awesome and I will recommend and I will be back again.
Our first time! The food was great with a full bar! Not over priced! Loved the old time music, plus not too loud! Sammy was awesome! We will be back and bring others with us!
Unprofessional service, oddly bad food in some cases, decor was nothing special and the price was way too high for all the above reasons.
Went for our anniversary and the waitstaff couldn't have been nicer. The food was delicious, I had the Lamb Chops and my wife had Veal Marsala with Parmesan crusted potatoes. My wife tried a couple of martinis and really enjoyed them both. I think we found our go to Italian restaurant.
Very friendly staff and good service. A little slow at first, but perked up as the night went on. Food was tasty, overall. One in the group had undercooked ravioli. She asked for a change and the server was very accommodating and brought a new dish for her of gnocchi. Unfortunately, that dish was overcooked, so not the best night for the kitchen. Otherwise, good food.
Always a pleasure. Good people great service!!!
Awesome little place.
Nice, modern decor. GREAT food. Good location. Easy parking in back. Ownership/Service is friendly.
