Mid America Club

How nice to find a conversation-friendly restaurant with fabulous views and excellent service. The octopus was very good and the steak was tender and cooked to order.
This was my first visit to the Mid-America Club and I will certainly be back. The views of the city from the 80th floor of the Aon Center building are extraordinary, particularly the south-facing views. The restaurant was quiet and elegant. Service was absolutely top notch - always attentive but never intrusive. Of course, the food should be the star of a dining experience and it certainly was here. My guest and I opted for the restaurant week menu and the meal was exquisite. The steak was cooked to perfection and the price point was far less than any other fine dining restaurant in that area. Overall, this is a hidden gem that needs to be experienced!
The dining experience itself was good, however, after calling to ask for my guests name to be added to the security list Bree forgot to add mine. We ended up having to wait 30 minutes to be cleared to go upstairs because no one would answer the phone to give security the ok. Then once up there they gave little direction on where to go as the lady at the front was too busy talking to another worker to help us.
Our servers were excellent and we enjoyed out evening.
Had the strip steak from the Restaurant Week menu - ordered it medium rare - it was like eating a shoe - could barely cut it.
Ambience and service was great. The view is beautiful but the food was absolutely horrendous. Not sure if going during restaurant week played a role in the quality of food but the menu sounded great. The food was not at all though. Pretty disappointed.
Came here to try it out during restaurant week. We were excited to see that it wasn't overly packed, but obviously had some "regulars or members" there as well. Every person on the staff was SO nice and friendly!
When we got our entrees, my steak was medium-well/well done instead of the medium rare ordered and they quickly had the kitchen prepare a new one and comped us a round of drinks, which we definitely appreciated since we were there celebrating, but when my second steak came out, it was PERFECTLY COOKED. I wouldn't call it the best steak dinner I've ever had (but they dont claim this), but I had No complaints when we finally left.
We had a wonderful night, enjoyed the beautiful views, never felt silly for asking staff to take pics of us, and were encouraged to go around the place to look out.
Date night, so I saw this so called special on Travelzoo I purchased it! Read the fine print and noticed the 20% service charge + tax ! Wasn’t happy about that but because I couldn’t get a refund we went anyway. Service was great and I really enjoyed my dinner. Drinks were so-so but I’d return for the view!
Top Notch everything!! They must have the best chef in Chicagoland!! Service outstanding as well!!
I used to belong to a private dining club so it was as expected. Great service, good food and an opportunity to enjoy the meal and the club.
This is one of the best elevated dining experiences I've ever had. This is an amazing club venue. All the staff is accommodating to each our needs. Delicious cuisine and tremendous view to boot. I will be back next time in Chicago.
It was kind of boring
Very pleasant evening
Waiter most helpfullq, menu varied and good offerings. Dinner served beautifully and perfect temperature
Great place to dine when in Chicago.
Beautiful setting. Limited menu wine list. Surprise, there’s a significant service charge added to your bill. You are advised this is not to be considered a tip or gratuity. Together the tip and service charge was almost $80 on a $200.00 meal.
The views were impeccable and the food was delicious as expected. Although, I would prefer that sides come with the steak since my husband’s potatoes came a little late. However, the service was great and everyone was apologetic. Would definitely love to go back!
My dads bday dinner and he felt very special. Everything was excellent
Views are amazing. Service was very good and friendly. Most of the food tasted good and looked nice, but most of the portions were skimpy and in some cases almost offensive given the price. It's also strange how the server specifically said there was a service charge added to the bill but it's not considered a "tip." After asking for clarification from him and also the manager, I was still confused; sounds a little shady and a way for the club staff to get additional/double gratuity. I think it should be clearer...or don't make it confusing.
The food was terrible!!!!! It took us 2 hours to get the food and it tasted like it came from a nursing home.
Security was very rude to me and my group and took a very long time to let us in (~20-30 min with a reservation). Once we got into the restaurant, things were ok.
Mid America club is a great venue for good dining and spectacular views. The only caveat that I have is that they charge a special fee for access to the club if you are not a member. Other than that keep this venue in your "very special dining" category.
The view is amazing!
As an exec assistant I am regularly making dining reservations for my boss and also for myself. This time while making the reservation on the app I failed to change the name to her name. So I called to confirm that everything was good to go. I had never been spoken to so blatantly condescending for not putting it under her name. The person on the phone sounded exasperated and inconvenienced that I would do such a thing. Luckily my boss didn’t have any problems, but you can bet this will be the last time I make a reservation for this restaurant.
The Mid America Club is sure worthy of an encore on my Chicago trip! I'm always pleased with the quality of food and service here. Stunning view up there to boot. I will be back. 😇
I enjoyed so much the Mid American Club. This is my go-to place to dine when in Chicago. Awesome!
Private club, food was sub par for the price. Poor ambience and felt lie foodservice food. Played more like a lounge.
Great view though...
First, let me say that Christina was an excellent server. She gave us great advice and went above and beyond to make sure we got to experience all the best views of the city.
We were lucky enough to be there on a Friday night when they were featuring their filet and lobster tail combo for less than $40! This also came with salad, sides and dessert! I am a foodie, and we raise our own beef, so I have high expectations. However, for this price in Chicago, I wasn’t sure what we would get. They COMPLETELY EXCEEDED my expectations! There were four of us dining together and we all ordered the same thing. Every meal was perfectly cooked a beautiful meadium rare on the beef and the lobster was very flavorful. Another surprise was their pomegranate margarita. I do not care for tequila and usually don’t order a margarita. However, my daughter got this margarita and when I tried it I had to have one. It was probably one of the best cocktails I have ever had. I would go here just to have this margarita, and that is saying a lot for me.
I was surprised there were not more people dining here. We would ABSOLUTELY go again!
All was very very nice.
The occasion to visit Mid-America Club was a birthday celebration but at the same time an opportunity to offer birds eye views of Chicago to our European visitors. Mid-America didn't disappoint. Views were amazing, food was good, service fantastic - from the welcome desk to the wait staff. Christina was such a pleasure to work with. There was even live jazz band for a part of the evening.
This is not the first time we came to Mid-America Club, and definitely not the last time either.
Wonderful dining experience! Great city view from the 80th floor.
Half an hour to get to the building. Extremely poor, rude reception. Uninteresting interior and the view is open to only few tables.
1 of 5.
The server was so kind, food is great! Good environment, not crowded. I totally recommend more than dining in john hancock.
My wife and I dined here to celebrate our anniversary. It's a hidden gem as we had the main dining room to ourselves for most of our meal on a Friday night! However there are nights when they're booked for a private event. All of our courses were delicious but the Caesar salad stood out as one of the best we've ever had. The service was excellent and you can't beat the view from the 80th floor.
Thursday night they have a Vibe trio, which was a fantastic addition to the view and the otherwise occasion-ambiance. The staff was very pleasant, and the meal was paced as a good meal should be.
I’ll return here for business, or for special occasion, if ever I am in the neighborhood.
Great food! Great server (Jerry)! Views were awesome!
I would not recommend this restaurant as there are so many better options in Chicago
Food was average to below average. Service was very informal. Not a good dinning experience
Wonderful atmosphere with breathtaking views! Our server was attentive and helpful. We had theater tickets and the restaurant was able to rush our order without sacrificing any quality. The pricing is on the high side, but not unreasonable for the quality. OpenTable users may experience a little trouble getting badges at the security desk in the lobby, but that too was quickly resolved.
Opentable never explained that there were two types of restaurants at Mid America.
A pub and the other formal dining. It was not clear that I had an option.
Mid America sat us in the pub for our anniversary! They knew it as I specifically told them. It was not even busy.
The wait staff was adequate but not great by any stretch. The wine menu was taken from us without asking if we wanted any wine then we had to ask for it back to order.
I asked for an after dinner cocktail chilled and it was served warm. I then had to walk over to the bar and get it chilled. The place was almost empty.
Luckily we made the best of it.
HORRIBLE HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE!
DIDN'T WANT TO SEAT US BECAUSE IT WAS THE LAST RESERVATION OF THE NIGHT (LEFT US IN THE LOBBY HOPPING WE'D LEAVE), FOOD WAS BURNT/EXTREMELY OVERCOOKED, AND SERVICE WAS HORRIBLE (BUT THE VIEW WAS NICE).
RESTAURANT DIDN'T HAVE US ON THE SECURITY'S LIST IN THE DOWNSTAIR'S LOBBY. LOBBY CALLED SEVERAL TIMES WITHOUT ANSWER. I CALLED AND THE RESTAURANT ANSWERED & CONFIRMED WITH SECURITY. ONCE WE GOT UP TO THE RESTAURANT, WE WERE TOLD TO WAIT WHILE THE HOST CALLED THE MANAGER AS THE KITCHEN HAD ALREADY CLOSED AND STARTED CLEANING. AFTER WAITING AGAIN, I WALKED INSIDE THE RESTAURANT TO SEE THE HOST SOCIALIZING WITH A GROUP. AFTER 45 MINUTES THEY FINALLY SAID THEY WERE READY TO SEAT US. OUR RESERVATION WAS AT 8:30, WE FINALLY OFFERED AT 9:35pm. THE SERVICE WAS POOR, THE APPETIZER WAS BURNT, MY "MEDIUM RARE" SALMON WAS OVERCOOKED AND BROWN ON THE BOTTOM. WHAT A WASTE OF $150!!!!! THE HOST (WHO ALSO SERVED US ALONG WITH ANOTHER WAITER) ACKNOWLEDGED THE OVERCOOKED/BURNT FOOD BUT OFFERED NO REMEDY OTHER THAN THROWING AWAY THE APPETIZER & THEN RELUCTANTLY OFFERED TO RECOOK THE SALMON "IF SHE COULD CONVINCE THE COOK"...
I WILL SAY THAT THE BARTENDER WAS VERY NICE, SHE DESERVES TO BE WORKING ELSEWHERE... I THINK SHE'S THE ONLY REASON WE WERE EVENTUALLY SEATED FOR "DINNER".
