Mochica was a great experience! Knowledgable staff (who gave delicious recommendations), fantastic food in a fun atmosphere.
The host was coked out.
Fun casual vibe.
Always great. period.
Food was okay nothing amazing - I've been in the past and it was better. Had half a chicken (don't bother trying), Ceviche (it was good but nothing amazing), Empanadas (best dish of the night), and Paella (took forever and wasn't the best).
What I was most disappointed was our seating. Made RSVP and ended up on a lopsided curve next to the construction sign. Worst table in the house for making RSVP.
I want to like this place, but the service is always slow, they were out of coffee (for Sat brunch???) in addition to a few menu items. Papitos next door is a much better alternative.
We sat outdoors for brunch on a Sat., and it was pleasant, as the street is closed on the weekend.
Service was good, and food tasty, although the options for vegetarians is a bit slim at this place. We had the Potrero scramble, fish tacos, and chiliquilas. (And I had a house margarita, which was good, although I don't like my drinks so sweet, but forgot to ask if they could cater to my preference, so that's on me.)
We were able to have our dogs with us (sitting quietly under our chairs), too, which we appreciated.
We loved our dinner-the staff was gracious and welcoming. There was a lot going on and it was a Friday night and so some of the courses were a tad slow coming out. Overall our group loved the meal.
We had an excellent time at Mochica. The food was great and the staff/owner were fantastic.
Food is great! Service could improve for sure. It seemed that they keep forgetting the drinks, but besides that, I would 100% recommend Mochica!
Amazing service, good ambiance and really good bites. Empanadas were the highlight of the meal and the pisco sours were amazing.
We enjoyed our time at Mochica because it was a special occasion to see previous co-workers we have not seen in many many years and the food was okay tho the Paella was a bit too salty. We also had the crispy shrimp, ribs, octopus. We couldn’t believe that our server had to chase us down after we left the restaurant to tell us that our 18% tip for 4 people was not sufficient! Who does that? The server showed that 22% is written in meniscule on the very bottom of the menu, you need a magnifying glass. We dine out quite often and we’ve never experience such a shady customer service. Never going back!
Very good experience. I feel like at home.
Great food and service. Good selection of both drinks and tapas
LOVED the food. HATED the park let which has no floor therefore is pitched steeply with the street. Our table was at a 15 degree angle so was uncomfortable throughout dinner. We thought the plates would slide into our laps. Build a floor with terraces! It will be worth it for your diners. Eating indoors is taking a risk still. Server was attentive.
Awesome food .. service was slow, but good .
The food was delicious. I had the pescado a lo macho and I loved it. My friend had salmon bandido and was pretty good. This is my third time coming to the restaurant and I was surprised how much they have increased the prices. The Sangria is overpriced $15 ?? In other places is like 10$ max. Also, the ambience is kinda boring. I love the food but I don't think I will choose the restaurant again.
Sam is making the best cocktails in the city. If you like to have Peruvian/South American dining, this is the place. Thank you so much!
Expensive but delicious. Definitely better to hit up their happy hour 🥂
Had a selection of tapas - they were each large enough for two. Food was delicious, and 3 tapas (chicken skewers, scallops and empanadas) made a nice dinner. Had a pisco sour- my first so no comparison- very tasty and not oversized. My favorite was the chicken skewers followed by scallops. Empanadas were also very good. Would have preferred just mushroom but the selection was nice. Would definitely go back.
Our reservation was for outdoors but it was very chilly - they seated us indoors with no problem. Great service and very attentive, friendly servers.
Food was solid, presentation was great, service was amazing (especially from J(H)errado idk how to spell his name, pisco sours were to die for!
Good food, attentive service
We sat outside. Got some appetizer size plates and two drinks for 3 people. Food is salty and much is fried, but it’s pretty good.
It’s a good place overall, but I don’t think we’ll be back much given the amazing other options in this area.
Everything about Mochica was amazing - from the personable staff to the well-made cocktails to the flavorful food! I can't wait to go back!
A great surprise when visiting local gallery. Excellent service, ceviches were super fresh and well prepared, short ribs were outstanding. Will go again and highly recommend. Pisco was perfect as well!
Food was amazing, and service was excellent, as usual.
I booked a last minute birthday celebration dinner and the food and service was excellent!
The ceviche was the best I’ve tried in SF!
We also ordered seafood paella, tequeños, anticuchos, camarones, churros and alfajores.
Having been to Peru, I have to say that everything was delicious! The textures and flavors were perfect!
It was closed!!
Friendly staff who make you feel like family! Food is to die for!❤️
Food was well prepared and serve at the right temperature. Staff very friendly and attentive.
This is our second time at Mochica. We loved the food and service.
Will come back again!!
The food was great and the service was excellent. My kids enjoyed their Mac n cheese with bacon. I ordered the fish tacos and my husband enjoyed his hearty paella. Very friendly staff and enjoyable outdoor dining area. I appreciate the extra steps in making the ambience outdoors aesthetically pleasing and comfortable during this time that a lot of people have had to adjust.
Great food, great service. The only issue was that we asked for a 60/40 split on the check and they did 50/50. No big deal really.
Unusual and well executed menu. Friendly, efficient service.
Our server was great, very attentive! And the food was super delicious and fresh.
The food was great! Service was too slow. They had a waiter and a busboy to work counter, bar and tables. It’s the second time we eat here and both times service was poor. Too bad because most of the food is good. The tuna tartare, beet salad, and the roasted chicken was delicious. Even the vinaigrette on the side salad over the fresh greens was delightful.
