Had a selection of tapas - they were each large enough for two. Food was delicious, and 3 tapas (chicken skewers, scallops and empanadas) made a nice dinner. Had a pisco sour- my first so no comparison- very tasty and not oversized. My favorite was the chicken skewers followed by scallops. Empanadas were also very good. Would have preferred just mushroom but the selection was nice. Would definitely go back.
Our reservation was for outdoors but it was very chilly - they seated us indoors with no problem. Great service and very attentive, friendly servers.
Food was solid, presentation was great, service was amazing (especially from J(H)errado idk how to spell his name, pisco sours were to die for!
Good food, attentive service
We sat outside. Got some appetizer size plates and two drinks for 3 people. Food is salty and much is fried, but it’s pretty good.
It’s a good place overall, but I don’t think we’ll be back much given the amazing other options in this area.
Everything about Mochica was amazing - from the personable staff to the well-made cocktails to the flavorful food! I can't wait to go back!
A great surprise when visiting local gallery. Excellent service, ceviches were super fresh and well prepared, short ribs were outstanding. Will go again and highly recommend. Pisco was perfect as well!
Food was amazing, and service was excellent, as usual.
I booked a last minute birthday celebration dinner and the food and service was excellent!
The ceviche was the best I’ve tried in SF!
We also ordered seafood paella, tequeños, anticuchos, camarones, churros and alfajores.
Having been to Peru, I have to say that everything was delicious! The textures and flavors were perfect!
It was closed!!
Friendly staff who make you feel like family! Food is to die for!❤️
Food was well prepared and serve at the right temperature. Staff very friendly and attentive.
This is our second time at Mochica. We loved the food and service.
Will come back again!!
The food was great and the service was excellent. My kids enjoyed their Mac n cheese with bacon. I ordered the fish tacos and my husband enjoyed his hearty paella. Very friendly staff and enjoyable outdoor dining area. I appreciate the extra steps in making the ambience outdoors aesthetically pleasing and comfortable during this time that a lot of people have had to adjust.
Great food, great service. The only issue was that we asked for a 60/40 split on the check and they did 50/50. No big deal really.
Unusual and well executed menu. Friendly, efficient service.
Our server was great, very attentive! And the food was super delicious and fresh.
The food was great! Service was too slow. They had a waiter and a busboy to work counter, bar and tables. It’s the second time we eat here and both times service was poor. Too bad because most of the food is good. The tuna tartare, beet salad, and the roasted chicken was delicious. Even the vinaigrette on the side salad over the fresh greens was delightful.
Food and cocktails were absolutely delicious. Service was great. Cute neighborhood. A little expensive.
Very much enjoyed the evening
Can’t wait to try it post pandemic (when we would be more comfortable eating inside)
Pork shoulder was over salted. Everything else was great
Delicious food, tasty drinks and great service. We will definitely be back
Mochica is one of the best restaurants in SF. Daniel and the entire staff are incredible! The Peruvian menu, empanadas, scallops, seafood paella and everything are sublime.
Love this place - the food and the outdoor dining and the friendly staff!
The Pisco Sours were good. We had Anticuchos of pork belly - not warm enough and average tasting and Ceviche Chifa - which was good. We had Lomo Saltado which was decent. Overall the food quality was average but the service was good.
Really exceptional service, excellent food, dine in the outdoor area and mid-day it was just fine...not crowded...very enjoyable. I was surprised when I got the bill...perhaps it is pandemic prices...but over $150 for lunch...granted we had two drinks each which contributed...but still, quite steep. Still, I need to underscore that both the food and the service were top notch.
Peruvian food is known to be very flavorful - I didn’t feel this was quite the case with Mochica. Everything was okay, but I wouldn’t say good or great. Paella was decent, ceviche was okay but some of the seafood in it was bland. The empanadas were mediocre. The churros for dessert were not sweet and the dipping sauce for them was very liquidy and looked like milk (as opposed to a thicker chocolate or dulce de leche dipping sauce).
Food ans drinks are always great, a must do in San Francisco.
Very good food and awesome service! Don’t forget the Piscos!
This is NOT authentic Peruvian Food. I was very disappointed. Ceviche was so small and it tasted bland, Anticuchos were undercooked and raw. Only thing that was okay was the Lomo Saltado but we all know it doesn't take a genius to make that. Over priced for crappy food I DO NOT RECOMMEND IT.
Food and drinks are fantastic. The owner is very friendly and welcoming- we took my parents there who were visiting and he made them feel super special. Love this place!
We tried a few different cocktails and several tapas, and every single thing at Mochica was perfectly prepared and absolutely delicious. This is a new favorite restaurant!
Great staff, good food, portions were too small for the price point
It was over a year I did not dine at Mochica, it is always as good.
We picked the outdoor option, such a nice addition to this restaurant that was always packed! Now it can be packed in and out. We had a reservation and were promptly seated.
The service is always super friendly, it did take some time for the food to come, but we were enjoying our time chatting and sipping on delicious cocktails.
Portions are always quite generous, I generally cannot make it to deserts! I had the Quinotto (Quinoa Risotto), if you are into creamy cheesy type of dish, you will have a blast. My partner got the half chicken. We were both satisfied!
Evenings are quite busy in Potrero Hill, so you get a bunch of people passing by and the overall energy is super.
Was concerned that charged when asked for extra chips and extra sauce.
Hadn’t been to mochica in a while - forgot how delicious it was!!!
Mochica has an incomplete variety of Peruvian cuisine. We understand that the cost to operate a business in a pandemic requires additional capital, however, we don't believe the price justifies the quality which is served. The ají de gallina was texturally excellent, yet lacked flavor. Similarly, the ceviche de pescado had the same predicament. It's great to see this restaurant roaring back to life during the pandemic, but, having experienced many Peruvian restaurants, I'd expect either a better value or higher quality of flavor.
The food was more than excellent. One of my favorite places in the city to eat although a bit pricey. The ambience is nice for outdoor seating. The service was slow but I understand during these times that staffing may be limited.
