We love Monsoon!Yummy food & nice people.
We had no expectations whatsoever when we wanted to try something new in Half Moon Bay for our anniversary, and decided to try Monsoon Himalayan and LOVED it! The food was wonderful, although they were close to closing they were very courteous and lovely. We've just reserved to go back there this evening and look forward to the onion naan and shrimp biryiani!
Great food and service
Ok, so full disclosure...I love this place every time! The food is excellent and a big variety, both vegetarian and not. You can ask for any level of spiciness you want, and they are gracious about it. This time I had the Vegetable Korma and it was perfect, creamy and delicious, with the veggies not overdone. My friend had Momos and said they were excellent. If you're wondering, the food is similar to northern Indian, so if you like that, give this one a try, too.
Amazing food, authentic taste and nice people. Surely, coming back again :)
Monsoon is one of our favorite restaurants on the coast. Good vegan options. Just ask about what vegetarian meals they have and they’re very accommodating about making them vegan. Also vegan dishes on the menu. They're quite used to vegan diners. Obviously something for everyone and plenty of choices for non-vegans/vegetarians. Wonderful food.
I went with my boyfriend just to try something new out and I ended up really loving this place! The interior is so cultured and the ambience of the place really brought this peaceful vibe. The server was nice and the food was 10/10. I had gotten the lamb curry spice level medium, which was delicious. They have vegetarian options as well! Will definitely come back when I'm near that area!
Delicious food, great service. The only down fall is it is a fairly busy restaurant and has a single bathroom.
This was some of the best Indian food that we have tried. The restaurant is in a newer strip mall at the end of main street so we weren't sure of the setting. But the food and the restaurant owner made this stop spectacular. I had the Himalayan Chicken Curry and my husband had the Chicken Korma, we both ordered our entrees with medium spice. We love spicy and this didn't disappoint but if you aren't into surer spicy, make sure that you tell them. We also shared the Vegetable Somosas and they were tasty too. The owner came by (I am sorry that I can't remember his name) to check on us and answered our many questions. He is clearly proud of his family run restaurant and we will definitely come back (it looked like all the locals know about it, too, as there was a line by the time we finished dinner
The food is very good but a bit over-priced, given the location and casual ambience. Service was good, except that they got an order wrong. We said we’d keep it but also take a replacement order. They charged us for the wrong one-granted, we said we’d take it anyway, but it would have been nice if they’d comped us. Entrees are $18, even for lunch, so we ended up paying quite a bit more than we normally would for lunch. Still, the food is quite good.
The dumplings, shrimp curry, and goat curry were all good. The tandoori chicken was not; parts were over cooked and other parts were under cooked. Also, the flavors were just not there. We sent it back and had it removed from our bill.
Service was okay. We would not go again when in town.
Really, really good. I had read the reviews. Being from the Bay Area, i was skeptical because there is a lot of good Indian (closest thing to Nepalese in my mind) food here. But Monsoon Himalayan did not disappoint. The lamb curry was excellent. Momas were great. We weren't that hungry so that's all we had but would not hesitate to go back if we are in HMB and are in the mood for Nepalese/Indian food. Staff were extremely friendly and decor is nice.
Solid place on the coast for some curries. Service was excellent and very friendly. The Monsoon platter was the highlight. We will be back
We went to celebrate the birthdays of 2 vegan friends. Our server was very knowledgeable and pointed out all the vegan options available.
We all agreed we enjoyed the meal and want to return soon. Yum!
Excellent food with quick, friendly service. Ordered mild levels of spices which still provided plenty of flavor. Very happy to discover they served Papadums, which I don't see often enough.
I bring folks to Monsoon Himalayan quite often for it has a menu enabling everyone (meat eaters, vegan, or vegetarians) to find something they like! The family owned place is definitely on my list of great places to go eat in Half Moon Bay.
Always delicious food and good service. My son enjoyed it for the first time
Wonderful food, great service. Such a treat to have this in Half Moon Bay!
Always a treat coming here for dinner. The lamb korma and chicken curry traditional meal are delicious. Garlic naan and chai are perfect every time. Our favorite place to stop when in HMB!
the best reasons for recommending this restaurant were not reflected in the list above. It has an easy , gentle atmosphere with gracious and unobtrusive family members who are the hosts. I have been there when it is more crowded and service can take longer but you know the food will be fresh and good. I love the maps under glass on the tables. Simple, easy atmosphere.
It is a always a treat to get to go Monsoon Himalayan Cuisine. The food is excellent and the service is kind and caring.
The food was delicious! We ordered the chicken vindaloo and the samosas. I also ordered a stout they had on tap.
The chicken was in a delicious mildly spicy sauce (when asked how spicy I asked for medium, and it was perfect). So many spices came through in the flavor, and the chicken was chunky and delicious.
The samosas were spiced so interestingly, they almost tasted like sweet cinnamon. So delicious. And the stout was dark and carbonated and refreshing.
Got seated and served right away! Would absolutely come back here.
Amazingly tasty and good portions. Attentive staff!
Wonder authentic food, great service and ambiance!
We always come here when in HMB!!
Everything is extra tasty. I steal a bit more than is polite from my daughter's Mango Lassi (so mango-y!) and don't get much samosa or saag as a trade.
Service is friendly.
Hands down the best Indian/Napalese restaurant in half Moon Bay. Every dish with spiced with a wonderful and your unique aroma.
Food was very good and so was the service!
The thing about Nepali food, as opposed to Indian food, is supposed to be low amount of spices and low oil, because historically they were on a mountain and going up and down carrying oil etc was not worth it... they optimized it with low oil, supposedly. But this restaurant, despite some good food, was very oily and overladen with spices... their appetizers were ordinary: the pakoras and momo... but the chilli paneer was good... but in general very oily food so we dont think it is worth the drive
Loved the food! Authentic and delicious. Service was prompt and the food came piping hot. Have had too many lukewarm meals elsewhere lately.
Food was very good, excellent lamb. Service was excellent. Will definitely go again
Such a great experience. Great food. Super friendly people and they were happy to have us there. Great experience!
Yummy food! Beautiful staff/owners! Wonderful Birthday dinner to me!
A friend and I had a great time at this family run restaurant. We were there on Monday night and had a great conversation with the owners about the food and life in Half Moon Bay versus Nepal.
Broad and interesting menu. Great options for vegan or vegetarian diners. Delicious food!
The food was fine but overpriced for the small portions.
Authentic and delicious.
A great find in Half Moon Bay
Great restaurant and very reasonable prices. Delicious dishes and super nice family owned!
