Monteverde at Oldstone
It was a Valentines Day celebration with my husband.
Over priced and poor value. My wife and I went there for Valentines Day 2019. Paid $322 with tax for a fixed price that was a 5 course meal. I have never had smaller portions. They should have advertised eat before you come. Only positive was the location on the river. Everything else was poor. Apparently a “single” scallop is considered a full course meal! If you are looking to drop this kind of money then drive to White Plains and go to Morton’s or BLT, at least you will get a meal that will feed you for the cost. So disappointed with the experience.
Food, service and ambience is excellent. Presentation is beautiful but portions look minuscule when served on large plates. Would be nice to have a vegetable or 1 side dish included considering the prices.
Also, would be nice to have specials as the menu is quite limited. During Restaurant Week there was a larger selection.
Went for our anniversary and had an evening to remember. Absolutely breathtaking inside and out. Delicious food, great service... overall AMAZING!
Quiet and nice for a date night away. I would not recommend for children. menu was small, but food was very good. Wine list was also small, but sufficient. I would go again.
One of my favorites in this part of Westchester. This place is very picturesque. The chef is a very creative with his dishes. And the bartender is very creative with his drinks. Come a bit early and enjoy the bar before you head over to your table. Its a cozy place. Also recommend this place for a wedding. They are very easy to work with. I had a small wedding last April with about 40 people. Everything was just perfect!!!
As always, a wonderful dining experience!! The food is delicious, the staff is very attentive, and the ambiance is beautiful! We try and come here every 2-3 months! We will be back when the holiday decorations are up since it is so magical!
Always a pleasure to dine at Monteverde, and the best Restaurant Week menu in the region.
Chose this place for a special dinner when visiting a friend at West Point. We were lucky that it also happened to be restaurant week! I wish I'd had two stomachs - the food was so good and I was sad I couldn't clean my plate. I had delicious mussels as an appetizer, the duck breast which was moist and flavorful, and a blackberry tart/cake for dessert, of which I could have easily eaten a dozen. Paired with a delightful red recommended by the server and was a great choice for a table with an array of tastes. It was nighttime but the ambiance inside was warm and inviting, and I'm sure the view is gorgeous during the day. While we waited for our table (which took a little longer than we would've liked) we enjoyed some really tasty cocktails at the bar.
Great service, delicious food, beautiful setting! Excellent value during restaurant week, however, will return here again before that happens !
We sat at the bar for a cocktail before dinner and decided to stay there for dinner. The bar has a nice cozy atmosphere and the bartender was very nice.
Two of us went for Restaurant Week. Smoked mussels, goat cheese salad, duck breast, bronzino, potato souffle, apple crisp. All were delicious, service was attentive, very nice dinner.
One of the better places to go for restaurant week
went for Hudson valley restaurant week. the menu was limited, however, the choices were excellent. the food and service were excellent. will definitely go again, since we didn't take advantage of the gorgeous view you have from the main diningroom.
This is a Hudson Valley jewel, perfect in any season.
We were there dining with good friends. We were celebrating 3 birthdays that night. They brought over Champaign flutes for us on the house. The food was delicious!! Everything we ordered for appetizers and dinner were above expectations. The dessert however, was a disappointment. After having such a wonderful eating experience, the desserts were less than the rest of our experience. An apple crumb tart was tasteless. That, however wouldn’t prevent me from going back. The rest of our dining experience was pleasurable and memorable.
Would highly recommend for ambiance and food
Surprised how The setting was so perfect
Really enjoyed the dinner with sunset and waterview calm
Service couldn’t have been better
Can’t wait to return
Loved it -such a nice atmosphere. We had appetizers outside and dinner inside. Menu was small and one item was unavailable but everything we tried was very good. Definitely would go back. Our server, Melissa, was very attentive without being annoying, and exceptionally good.
Quiet elegant charming and romantic. Simple yet elegant menu. Great ambiance
Loved everything about the place from the grounds and the dining room with a spectacular view of the gardens and the Hudson River to the impeccable, attentive service and delicious food. Looking forward to returning.
Very welcome service, ambiance and the fantastic view was perfect for our get together.
Food was ok (my filet mignon was a little salty) wine was excellent! Overall we got a great experience. I will come back soon.
Superb place, love the grounds. The food is portioned so perfectly, and very tasty.
Lovely restaurant , nice meal little pricey. The view was amazing
Excellent service, Beautiful views, great food. Went for my husband's 60th birthday and it was great. Will go again and definitely recommend
Food was outstanding. Went with six people and all six of us rate it outstanding. The staff was so warm and friendly. Very knowledgeable about the menu and drinks. I highly recommend going. Looking forward to returning. Oh one suggestion try the duck. Yum.
The food, service, and ambiance were amazing once again! We went on a beautiful Friday night and sat outside on their terrace. It’s so peaceful and the food was great! Went with my family of 8 and had a great time! Can’t wait to try Tapa’s on the Terrace, which they have on Wed and Sundays!!
Passing through area and saw sign. Did research and booked.
From entering the beautiful security gate, to the spectacular mansion, to an outstanding view of the Hudson River...the cherry on the sundae was outrageous food (presentation, flavors, quality)
Do NOT pass this gem!!!
Wonderful views overlooking the Hudson River just north of Peekskill on 9D. Casual dining in an elegant atmosphere. Highly recommended.
Extremely slow service and disappointing bland food for the most part. Beautiful setting though.
Nice view tasty food worth the trip we shall return
The staff and their courteous and friendly service enhance the ambiance and the great food.
A "must go to" place for the view and class that the stately old mansion add to the evening.
Thanks to everyone there for always making my visits memorable.
Beautiful ambiance and attentive service capped off by delicious reasonably priced food.
My wife and went here for the first time. The scenery and house/Resturant with the landscaping were breathtaking. You can see down to the Hudson River. The food was great along with the service. The only downfall were the homemade mixed drinks which didn’t taste all that good. My understanding was that the regular bartender that invented the drinks was off that night. Although pricey it was worth the view and experience for our date night.
The food was very good but there was a problem with our service. However, I will definitely return because the manager did absolutely everything necessary to make it right with us, so we are happy to chalk it up to a very busy night and a snafu with the order. We will definitely return and appreciate the care to make it right with the customer.
Place is beyond beautiful, but the food was meh....great drinks and amazing view, but you can't eat the view.
Good food, good attentive service , great grounds, wonderful view
I used to occasionally frequent this restaurant years ago. Back then, it had the atmosphere of an aging estate; nice, but it looked a bit worn and run down. Once it shut down, it deteriorated even further. It needed some serious TLC and someone with the vision (and the funds) to bring it back to its former glory. Fortunately, the new owner has done just that. The attention to detail and the obvious care and planning that went into the renovations is clear in every area of the restaurant. However, it goes beyond the window dressing--after all, a restaurant can't survive on great atmosphere alone; you also need great food. And again, I would say the same attention that has been given to the building has also been given to the food and service. Both were excellent. We sat outside at a table on the patio and enjoyed the view of the Hudson River and surrounding mountains from our table. The mosquitoes were a little bothersome once the sun started to go down, so if you prefer to sit indoors to avoid the bugs, there's a semi-circular dining room that has a wall of windows from which to enjoy the same view. There's another patio area a little apart from the main building that they said would be serving drinks and tapas plates, beginning in June. This was our second time back since it reopened, but we'll definitely be returning more often.
The appetizers were incredible - interesting and unique flavors used. Everything served looked beautiful. The duck was dry without the crisp of the skin. The sauces was very tasty. Dessert (lemon meringue) was a bit disappointing. Very crispy crunchy meringue droplets almost like tiny cookies arranged with loose toasted oats and drops of lemon. Not what I expected at all.
Overall, the setting and service made up for the issues with the food and I would definitely recommend the restaurant.
Great food & service. Beautiful setting and outstanding service.
Amazing ambiance at this restaurant in a historic mansion. Food was delicious, had filet mignon... perfect. Staff was prompt and enjoyable.
