Mordecai

Too dark and my chicken wasn’t cooked through and pink in the center. Had to use the flashlight on my phone to see bc it was too dark
Liked the ambience. Food was good especially Steak Tartare but dinner menu selections were limited. We went for whiskey cocktails and couldn’t find anything we wanted to try in their cocktail menu. Service was inconsistent with timing and indifferent.
Food was good, but not great. Not worth the prices and very small portions. Waiter was very nice, but didn’t offer any information, history, or pairing info on any whiskeys which is why we were there ( even after we questioned this). Very expensive dinner for three people and we weren’t blown away. Would try hush money upstairs for drinks, but would not return for dinner
The oysters were very good, the sea trout tartare was fair. I ordered the “grilled” chx but it wasn’t grilled it was smoked. When I inquired about this they said it was not smoked. But on the bill it clearly said “smoked chx”. The fish & chips is literally a log of fish under a very thick fried layer. The music was good but not appropriate to dining. I do love Guns & Roses but Welcome to the Jungle didn’t jive with the ambience that night.
Had a great meal. Service and food exceeded what was expected when first walked in. Lasagna was unique and good. Roasted chicken with goat cheese also good. Crowd ranged from young adults to families on a fall sat night
We are huge whiskey fans and our bartender was exceptional at helping us with pairings, allowing us an opportunity to evaluate the bottle from our higher end pours, and offering history and insight. Made the night extra special.
We ate upstairs at Hush Money and enjoyed this TERRIFIC drink menu. Specially crafted cocktails for remembering Chicago. Each one had a "theme /poem" and it was delightful. I will definitely be back for more.
Great vibes, loved the atmosphere and service was top notch
Service was great. Pasta deal was fun. Cannolis were terrible
The food, although tasty and well prepared, were small portions. The $31 scallop dish, for example, came with 4 scallops and about 6 or 7 small (and slightly tough) gnocchi. The half chicken which was served with baked potato didn’t even have one whole small potato in the serve. It was underwhelming. For a $$ restaurant review we felt it should be considered more as a $$$.
Great cocktails and service. Did not try the food but looked pretty appetising.
Mordecai is one of my favorite spots. Out-of-the-ordinary food and cocktails, and a staff that is attentive, polite, and very helpful. I never hesitate to recommend it to friends and acquaintances.
We really enjoyed our dinner at Mordecai. I had the CAMPANELLE PASTA and it was fantastic. If you like mushrooms then this dish is for you. My wife had the CLASSIC STEAK FRITES. The steak was really tender but it is prepared medium rare. We liked it but some may not. The fries were amazing. Don't underestimate them. Very crispy and seasoned very well. For desert we had the CRACKERJACK BEIGNETS. If you are looking for a great way to finish your meal don't pass this up. If we are ever in the area again we will definitely go here.
Food and service amazing!! View of Wrigley makes the dining experience even better!
Another win by Mathias Merges! Comforting food with masterful technique. Simple menu and well trained professional staff.
There are several new restaurants near Wrigley Field. We tried Mordecai’s before an evening game. It is a small space with a bar going the length of the room. It was half full when we arrived, but felt crowded as tables are scrunched together down the middle. VERY LOUD! Waitress was pleasant. The menu had many pasta dishes with names we did not recognize. We both ordered fish and chips. It came with potato chips, but can upgrade to French fries. The fish was super dry and the crust was seasoned. Neither my husband or I liked the seasoning. Could not finish my meal. The hamburgers looked good. Would give it a second chance if it were not so loud.
Always treated as though we are special. Sam greets us with a friendly smile every time. The cocktails are unique and delicious and go down too quick. Service superb.
Waiter did terrible job, was poorly trained in attentive. Had to cancel the main course to make the game. Prices are ridiculously high.
We love the breakfast.
Hush Money bartender did a flight of bourbons for u, including Pappy Van Winkle.!
Outdoor sheltered seating gave us a direct view of Big screen Cubs game and we could hear the roar of the crowd as Cubbies brought it home. Delicious hearty brunch entrees: Hansel & Greeley, sirloin steak & eggs and Mordecai omelet. Dark Matter coffee.
Delicious cheese curds and shishito peppers for starters, everyone enjoyed their burgers and crabrolls. Interesting service and alcohol choices.
Great location for before Cubs game but it could get extremely loud and hard for conversation. Food is good.
Oysters were so small - terrible value
I have eaten here several times. Decided to treat my husband there for his birthday. He enjoyed the time and food. Waiter was wonderful. He had served me several times and he is always thoughtful and observant.
The food was alright but under seasoned. There was nothing I would get again. The bar messed up two drinks and then spilled a whole drink on one of us. There was no compensation on the bill.
Girls night out
Went there for brunch. Food and drinks were great, but service was horrible. Server clearly did not want to be there and was so indifferent to everything. My friend and I were more than willing to have a couple more drinks and hang out, but he did not come around at all after the food arrived and we even had to go up to the bar to ask for our check. And there were definitely other tables that also noticed the slow, inattentive service.
Excellent meal, Sam is a great host.
Great lunch before a Cubs game. Excellent food and the service was friendly and prompt.
Too cramped, too loud, food not good and over priced. Server did her best, but highly unlikely to return.
Need bigger tables..
Fantastic food. Lighting was a bit to dark but overall would definitely return.
Food and service were good. It’s a little upscale for wrigleyville and was pretty low energy for a Friday night. Nice for a quiet dinner, just don’t really know how it fits into the neighborhood, maybe a little more for tourists.
Great space, great service, great drinks. A little loud, and price point is a little high for what you get, IMHO, but was a good experience, overall.
Outside area was perfect for pregame brunch, will be back for sure.
Had a reservation for dinner and sat at a small cocktail table, which made for difficult dining with multiple dishes. Larger tables were available. Steak tartare had a very bizarre presentation with some sort of translucent white sauce frosted on top and served with stale tortilla chips. Shishito peppers served with sauce that had a skin on top. Burger, Crab Roll and Pasta all were less than desirable.
I would recommend going when the cubs are out of town/ the noise level was off the charts! The food was exceptional but for a place with such a beautiful bar the rest of the restaurant lacks ambience
All around excellent and can't beat the view. Well run. Food was top notch.
Server could care less. They did have any Chardonnay—seriously!?
Very nice service but not that good. Bloody Mary’s not that stellar. Had shrimp cocktail - was tasty. Charcuterie was a lot of different salami but no cheese and just some toast.
