The salmon and the swordfish were delicious. The preparation of these dishes were top notch. Never had a disappointing meal at this delightful restaurant.
Excellent overall experience
Excellent as always! A favorite restaurant for special occasions, date nights, meeting up with friends, or just a quick bite by the bar.
We were there 10 years ago and were not impressed. It was fine dining but ho-hum. This time, it was upscale dining but with a very casual vibe. No pretense, servers & staff wore jeans and plaid shirts. Very friendly, and the food was outstanding. Very eclectic and unique presentations. We new we ordered way more food than we could eat because we wanted to take some home. Had enough for almost two meals.
Food was super salty, menu was overpriced, cocktails were mediocre in taste and flavor. overall pricey meal for just average food and drink.
We had a wonderful experience at Niche celebrating my husband's new job. From the moment we walked in the door, everyone was warm and kind, the meal was exquisite, and while it was crowded and they were playing great music, it was never so loud we couldn't enjoy our conversation. If you have the chance to enjoy a meal at Niche, do it.
Fantastic ambiance, service, and food!
We will be back.
Lovely restaurant. We both had the chicken dinner and it was amazingly delicious. Many level of flavors that complimented each other, perfectly cooked. We also had the Artisan Cheese Plate. Rather skimpy on the fruit but did come with very large crackers which were delicious. The marmalade was fresh. Very small amount of cheese compared to other restaurants.
The service was poor. We sat there for 10 minutes before the waiter, who was fawning over the regular customer seated nexted to us, even acknoklwedged us. He only did that because I flagged down the water boy and asked him who our waiter was and only then did he make an appearance at our table. Never told us about their specials, we had to ask specifically. When I asked how long entrees were taking, due to the length of time we waited initially, he said 10-15 minutes depending on what you order. Well, 20 minutes later they arrived. We had a concert to attend to which were late.
The wine is a very small pour - for $14.00 a glass I expected a bit more.
The food was very good though and I would definitely go back, I 'd just caution you to add an extra /12 to your schedule.
This restaurant was simply wonderful, the service was great the ambience was fit for special occasion or a special date.
Jeffrey our waiter was outstanding, very knowledgeable about the menu and the wine selection. Would definitely recommend this restaurant to friends
Our second visit was just as good as the first. Every single thing we have ordered here has been outstanding!
We started with Very Old Fashioned’s - very expensive but probably the best “brown” cocktail I have ever had. It was smooth, rich and well-balanced. My steam buns and my husband’s burger were so flavorful and it will be hard to try something new the next time, although the Loch Duarte Salmon on my first visit was fantastic.
Compliments to the chef and the well-trained staff.
Food was excellent, good presentation, good service.
But the greeter was a little disconcerting as he was not dressed in a very presentable manner for an upscale restaurant.
We have enjoyed both visits to Niche and will return often. Everything about Niche was fantastic, Food, Service and Relaxing. Both times we were there Rochelle was our server and she made the entire experience outstanding.
Menu was very interesting and the food delicious. Our server was friendly and attentive. Tables are fairly close together and that is why I gave a fair review for ambience. I would recommend the restaurant to friends because of the interesting menu.
We really enjoyed our dining experience at Niche! Our server was very thorough and took time to explain the dishes. We recieved two complimentary glasses of champagne as we were celebrating our anniversary. Can't wait to go back.
Disappointed in lack of appetizers, small dishes seem too big to have in addition to a regular entree. No small dinner salad option, only one soup choice.
First time trying Niche. Very impressed. The selection of whiskey (and rare whiskeys) was so large I had to get a drink while I looked at the drinks. Menu is a little small but the quality of food was fantastic. I had the special which was a perfectly medium rare fillet with a very unique potato and brussel sprouts. Incredibly tender and full of flavor. Also had some fried brussel sprouts in a glaze which were also delicious. My guest had the niche burger with fries. The chat was more like a glaze char. Unique flavor that was almost a little sweet. Again, very good. Service was fast to bring out food and not pushy. Knowledgeable waiter and very polite. If you are looking for a high end meal, great drinks, fantastic service and to give your taste buds a massage, this is the place for you. I will go back soon.
Great food and drink menu.
Surprising and delightful n every way. I’ve dined all over the world and Niche is indeed world class!
Food was great
Service was great
This was our second visit to Niche. Both times the food and service was a cut above. The appetizers are creative and generous. The entrees were also quite creative and generally very good. I think my pork chop was slightly overdone - everything else was on the mark.
We would have preferred a table somewhat away from the service area and kitchen.
For anyone who likes bourbon, you will be hard-pressed to find another establishment in the Chicago area with a greater variety. They have over 200 bourbons at a rather small bar!
I saw the the review on "check please" and it was highly rated. Either I did not listen well, or something.
The food was very good, but it was not the steak and potatoes fair I thought it would be. I expected it to be more traditional in preparation, but it was more fancy. I have to admit the brussel sprouts were to die for. It was just the wrong kind of food for my wife and I.
I others like this kind of food, I would strongly recommend it.
We truly enjoyed Niche. We had an early seating on a Saturday. Therefore, no waiting, immediate seating. Our server was outstanding. Attentive, but not overbearing. Knowledgeable, but not pompous. We all had a scallop and crepe appetizer which was perfectly cooked and extremely flavorable. Two of our entrees. the tuna and the steak, were equally delicious. The other entree, the branzino, was not a favorite of any of us. The room is nice, warm and woodsy, very enviting. They have the kind of bar that one would be comfortable sitting at and enjoying a cocktail or dining at. I would absolutely recommend Niche.
We ate at Niche in Geneva on Friday night. It was our first time there. We were early for our reservation, but were quickly seared. Our server was prompt and, when she found out that it was our first time there, took us through the menu items and explained each entree. She was knowledgeable on their wine list and asked my wife what she liked. She was able to guide her to a couple she might like and offered samples before she made her decision. Every food offering from appetizer to dessert was first rate. Service was excellent throughout. We highly recommend Niche!
Yes. the food was outstanding, nice deals on wine on Thurs, service excellent, received complimentary
champagne for our anniversary, bourbon bar phenomenal, and the filet although expensive was to die for!
Enjoyed the food but the chef has a sweet tooth. Most entree’s had some sweetness to them. It was not easy for me to find something that was not sweet on the menu.
Niche was fun and has an interesting menu. I thought the food was very very good; however, also very expensive for a more casual foodie type place. We would return, but be more prepared for the cost.
The restaurant has changed its table to smaller table tops, so it can cram more people in the space. The food was all reheated and terrible. The rice etoufee was tasteless and cold, the Chicken dried out and greasy. Pork and chicken was sliced into little pieces and vegetables were greasy and cold also. Even the wine list has been reduced to cheaper and mediocre brands. I’m not sure why there was anyone in the place.
A little too expensive and pretentious for my taste but very good.
Outstanding as it has been for years. The variety of food preparation makes the selection of each course very difficult. Everything sounds so good! Each plate has a wide selection of flavors that all compliment each other. Cocktails and service are top notch. New desert selections were out standing, and will require another visit in the near future. The wine list has been adjusted to allow a wider selection of affordable wines.
Our daughter surprised us with a reservation at Niche!! We would most certainly go back for the amazing food and service!
Friday night out. Rachel was a great server, knew the menu and addressed every need. Prompt service, great food as always. Cheese board, corn soup (seasonal favorite), gnocchi was great, simple burger with fries was delicious. Complimented nicely with a froze and bourbon cocktails. Desserts were tasty and unique. I
Niche is always one of my favorite restaurants to go to for a special occasion. I love the atmosphere, the food, the service...everything!! Jeffrey is an amazing server and always makes you feel at home! Highly recommend!
We met two other couples for drinks and dinner. Everything was wonderful. Enjoyed cocktails and dinner. We lingered a bit after dinner to enjoy our conversation and never felt rushed. Lovely evening.
Excellent service and atmosphere. The food was very good and creative. Great for a date night or special evening with friends.
Great food and customer service. Would go back. Thanks Niche!
Both duck and burger were very good and their fries are terrific. Our waiter was excellent .
Whiskey bar and background music ambiance— i.e. pub atmosphere,, no table coverings-not to be confused with a special occasion environment. Recommended for easy good eats.
Food was delicious. Not one dish was too salty, which is very unusual (most restaurants oversalt at least some of their dishes because many Americans think "salty" means flavorful). Had 4 or so beers with an ABV of 13% or higher! Yum! Not cheap, but there are a ton of suburban restaurants that are similarly priced and nowhere near as good.
Fantastic food, interesting selections, great service, AMAZING alcohol selection, fantastic bartenders. It's not cheap, but for twice the cost of a Chili's dinner, you're getting 8x the caliber of food. Worth a look, but I wouldn't recommend bringing children under 10 or so (but I'm sure you could).
Really phenomenal meal. The restaurant itself is very cool. Rochelle was our server and she was excellent. Overall great experience- my wife and I look forward to coming back.
