nicks on westminster
We Went to Nick’s for the first time. It was conveniently located a short distance from the ice bumper cars / skating rink The brunch menu was excellent and we took advantage of the Providence Restaurant week menu. Point Judith fish salad on toast and a seasonal salad to start. Eggs Benedict for each of us as second course. It was terrific. A warm cookie to end the meal. The service was quite slow and it was confusing who our server was. It turns out that they all were pitching in because they were down one server. Most of them had a really nice attitude. We will be back.
Our server was outstanding!
Greatly enjoyed the 3 course restaurant week menu. Had fish salad, RI mushroom risotto, vanilla bean custard. My wife had butternut squash soup, baffoni farm chicken, and butternut squash cake.
Service was solid, the portions were very generous and the desserts were creative.
Best risotto I think I’ve had in Providence. I’m going to remember that plate.
The jasmine ice cream was incredible.
Nice staff that went out of their way to help and excellent food
Great food and service! Always a sense of community, comfort and culinary expertise combined with genuine authentic friendly staff.
Great Place for Brunch!😄
restaurant was so quiet for a saturday! but the service and the food were terrific. we will definitely go back!
We had a tremendous dinner here on New Year's Eve. Oysters raw and roasted. Dumplings. Steak in wine reduction sauce. All excellent!
Food is excellent and pleasantly different from standard menus. Staff is amazingly friendly and helpful. The open kitchen is like getting a show with your meal. The grilled breads are sooo good
Went here for brunch. Had versions of their eggs Benedict, which was excellent. Other food coming out of kitchen looked terrific; they are very meticulous to detail in the kitchen. Large selection of brunch-type drinks, beers, wines. Very reasonable prices.
Great quality ingredients with purposeful preparation - was a perfect brunch. Service was awesome as well.
Love the food and the service!
This was my first time at Nick’s and I was thrilled. The food was excellent and our server was lovely. I have celiac and their gluten-free bread was amazing. The salad was dressed perfectly, and the server was attentive without hovering. It is my new lunch spot.
Very good service. Food was very so-so. Nick’s on Broadway is so much better! Nice to have this spot close to work, but menu needs improvement as does quality.
Poor customer service from the waiter.
We had a delicious brunch before the afternoon matinee at PPAC. The food was perfect in every way! Service was slow to start, but it was a busy Sunday brunch, so understandable. Staff was friendly and attentive, food excellent!!
Small portions and colder atmosphere were my only complaints. Food was excellent
This was my first time trying Nicks new location. It did not disappoint.
Service was exceptionally slow. The pumpkin soup was ordered by two of us and neither chose to eat much, as the taste was awful (how can you ruin pumpkin soup?). The fish was underdone and the bolognese sauce on the pasta was unusual tasting (similar to the soup) to the point where I wouldn’t have eaten it, if I weren’t so hungry from the delay. Appetizers were fine. Bread portion was small and took 30 minutes to get, but was fabulous! Don’t order seconds, unless you want to wait forever and get them with your entree. The dessert (olive oil chocolate cake) was ordered by three of us and we all thought it was below average. While leaving, we polled the four of us and we all quickly agreed that we would not be coming back.
Food was delicious. Definitely going back soon.
Quiet day at the restaurant. Our server was at best "ok" and not very attentive. We ended up leaving without ordering dessert something we had planned on doing. The payment process took a little longer then we would have liked, but overall good experience. We will be back.
Fantastic spot to have a meal with family or friends, the service is great, the ambiance and location are perfect. Highly recommend and definitely going again!
Would recommend to a friend but I would tell them to ensure plenty of time is available as the it took over 30 minutes to get our breakfast served. The food was good but took way too long to get it on our table.
Music was too loud unfortunately
Perfect Eggs Benedict should be a bare minimum for a high priced brunch restaurant. Ours came with yolk the consistency of hard boiled eggs
I've had great lunches at Nicks several times. The brunch was blah though. There was nothing special about the quite limited food or drinks menu for brunch, and the hollandaise was heavy and creamy without the classic lemony flavor I prefer. Typical of Nicks there's a heavy reliance on bacon and ham to bring taste, which is great if you like them. I didn't try the potatoes. The room itself was packed. We were seated by a window with NO way to block the incoming sun which was ultimately quite uncomfortable. The waiter checked on us so often it actually got annoying in the midst of an intense conversation. (It's not like we couldn't signal easily if we needed help.)
Great food and great location!
Pretentious place without the food quality to back it up. Wish I went to Kitchen I instead.
First time sitting in Nicks for breakfast, it was excellent, delicious food, coffee, service was great. Thank you so much for making my 58th birthday an enjoyable start to my day. Sincerely, Margaret M Sitko
Nice to have an additional place for Nick's... no waiting! ssshhhh....
Food choices are perfect and the timing and presentation are terrific. Keep it up! (but don't tell anyone about it!!!) lol.
Nicks was the first restaurant that popped up when doing a search for brunch. Quite honestly I wish we’d gone elsewhere. It started the moment we walked in and someone (presumably the manager/owner?) asked if he could take our just purchased coffees and put them elsewhere “it looks bad for business to have another company’s product in here”. Really dude?! I’m sure neither of Nick’s restaurants are putting Starbucks out of business, nor does your clientele solely dine/drink at Nick’s...but this could have been handled a thousand different ways (sign on the door? could we pour that into one of our mugs? something). Food was mediocre. The “seasonal fruit” platter consisted of not quite ripe selections. The main meal was typical of diner fare, nothing special, although for $12 it was not the priciest brunch, so mediocre was ok. All in all, it was a decent diner meal at a restaurant trying desperately to be upscale with a rude and inappropriately pretentious owner/manager. Better off going down Westminster to the less stuffy but likely comparable other restaurants.
Great food. Loved the restaurant! Server was very well trained! Great selection of small and large plates!
Outstanding restaurant offering excellent farm to table cuisine, sophisticated yet casual ambiance and attentive service. Indeed, a welcome addition to downtown!
This restaurant is in the lobby of the building I work in. I eat here daily. It can be crowded at lunch and particularly crowded at brunch on weekends. The quality of the food and the presentation is exceptional. Ingredients are locally sourced and
Great food service, kind of noisy
We really had a lovely time. It was pretty quiet when we first arrived. And was moderately full by the end of the meal. The servers were attentive without being pushy. And they were absolutely delightful. We had the warm olives and house baked bread, and then a pasta dish, and the bread dumplings as entrees, and the cheese plate to wrap everything up. The olives and bread were fabulous. Though be careful if you are impatient as I am, the olives are HOT initially and the pit even hotter. It didn't stop me from devouring them. But hungry folks proceed with caution. The entrees were wonderful. Absolutely no complaints. And the cheese board was quite nice, though a bit sparse on the cheese selection. Only two cheeses. They were very nice. Just would have enjoyed a third. Will absolutely be back though.
Great night out with friends for dinner. Tasty and interesting menu options with small plates available in a great downtown setting. Other friends have raved about their brunch as well so can't wait to go back to sample that menu!
