We had great time and great food. Our waitress Jasmine was wonderful; very attentive, pleasant. Thank you!
Food quality wasn’t up to usual standards. Never got bread and spotty setvice
The food was outstanding. We will definitely go back. Service was a little off, but it was very busy. Sitting at the chefs counter was a challenge. I would not recommend that if a table is an option.
The server was extremely professional and knowledgeable and the food was delicious. However, the hostess was not pleasant. The restrooms are inconveniently located below grade and require taking approximately 20 stairs down to the basement.
Horribly oily food....can’t imagine why? Terrible service. Uneven timing.
Isn’t feel clean. So many good places to eat near this joint. Skip this!
I’ve been to Nico’s Osteria many times and today was by far my worst experience. The waiters were extremely slow, had to ask them three times to pick up our plates. The fish was not good at all, dry, old (dark on one side) and overcooked. The Rigatoni Bolognese were ok, nothing special! The best was the Hamachi Crudo and the desserts. It was not a great experience at all!
Very nice place, the best for breakfast, the service is spectacular!!
We love it!!
Mathew was fabulous - corrected order mistake and made me feel welcome to the neighborhood; front hostess remembered my seating preference which was great
The food was terrible. Wine selection poor
Great as always
Everything was terrific. Food, service, ambiance. We were in a more quiet part of the room which was perfect for talking!
Excellent food and service
My go to place! So great every time. Staff and food are incredible
Great ambiance! The food was spectacular as was the service. My wife and I shared a number of plates (and a great bottle of wine) and our favorites were;
•big tuna and hamachi crudo (SOOOO good!)
•orecchiette (the tuna “sausage” is amazing! Trust me)
•cacio e pepe (I’ve eaten this all over Italy and this is the best one)
•crispy chicken (I know, but believe me it’s delicious!)
Love everything about this restaurant. Been coming here for a number of years and it has remained one of our favorites in Chicago.
Everything about this dinner experience was just ok. We went for my wife’s birthday and were expecting much more. The food wasn’t bad, but overpriced and nothing special. Do not go here for a special occasion as you will be highly disappointed.
Great time - food was outstanding and our server had the best recommendations. Would definitely go back!
The quality of food has gone down! The whole Branzino was ok, the stuffed squid tasted stale, the roasted carrots were sliced into thin strips and looked like burnt sticks— very unappetizing! The only dish we enjoyed was the Shishito peppers.
The place is beautiful. The food is probably good normally. I went specifically after reading the menu earlier in the day online, only to arrive for breakfast to a truncated menu due to a large conference in town. The menu offered only a few options, we tried nearly all of them (as there were 4 of us and very few items). As much as I wanted to love it, I don't think I'll be back, at least not for breakfast.
We sat out side which was beautiful😄
Great Restaurant with creative menu. Way too many solid options to choose from including the Brussel Sprouts! Staff is great and sitting at the “chefs” table or bar is a cool experience as you get to see everything coming together before your eyes!
And breakfast. Style, good food. Great service until waitress seemed to loose interest.
I take my wine-snob Italian food loving friends here-they love it. Though Italian food is not my personal favorite- this place does a great job of pairing unique fresh ingredients. The staff is awesome, and the ambiance is killer. Great for a get-together with friends, or a romantic date. Dessert and coffee was worth the calories.
Very disappointing. Post an ownership and management change, (One Off Hospitality of Blackbird and Alvec fame no longer runs this restaurant) this restaurant has lost all the talent that made it a consistent favorite. Gone are the crudo (‘the fish did not get delivered’ - that was the new manager’s refrain). While the menu remains the same, the execution of the dishes are way off. Wines on the wine must have not been re-ordered. This restaurant unfortunately is destined to become yet another hotel cafe. Avoid.
Always a favorite of mine. Chic venue. And fabulous Italian seafood with plenty of other options, as well.
Great Sunday bruch.Eggs in Purgatory were amazing.
Service food and atmosphere were great. We had breakfast.
Service was less than what we had expected. Server ignored us after we ordered. We had food issues and manager was helpful, but we were really surprised at the lack of attention and follow thru from the server. Server assistant was a star though and was non-stop all night!
Great food and service. Creative dishes. Always consistent across the board. A must while in Chicago
Service friendly and attentive, and room is still very appealing but the big problem this time was the food- we found the brunch menu limited and my dish (corned beef hash) sounded good but was poorly executed. Nice setting, though
Nada que me sorprendió, no hay bien ambiente y los precios exageradamente caro
Nico was terrific. Both the scallop and stuffed calamari appetizers were outstanding. And the pasta and king crab cioppino were equally excellent. The portions were ample. The deserts were a great end to the meal. The service was outstanding, the ambience most pleasant, and, even though we were there for about 2 1/2 hours, we were never rushed or pressured to leave. I will definitely go back.
Excellent and interesting food. Amazing wine list with small and organic producers. Good cocktails. Just great overall setting with terrific food and service. Very consistent but exciting go-to you will always enjoy!
Not a fan of the host, but overall great service!
The food was absolutely delicious! I will dream about the Brussels sprouts bruschetta until I can go back and enjoy it again. And the gnocchi with mushrooms and peas was amazing - the sauce was incredibly flavorful and I wanted to lick the plate! The striped bass was perfectly cooked and very tender and delicious. Their homemade pistachio gelato was reminiscent of being in Italy , and the tiramisu was by far the best I’ve ever had. Our waitress was very knowledgeable and accommodating and the service was excellent. I very highly recommend this restaurant!
This was such a disappointment! We had a great meal here last fall and were excited to eat here again, but we’ll never come back. We were celebrating 2 birthdays. Our server could not have been ruder or less attentive. We had to ask someone to get her so we could order, had to find someone to get her again so we could get our check at the end. The food was a big disappointment, too.
Wonderful dinner! Highly recommend Nico Osteria for a special meal.
Great food and service.
Great meal!! Everything was fantastic!!
