We had tickets to see Pilobolus at the Colonial at 8 pm and arrived at Nicola's for 6:30 reservations. Our server was knowledgable about the menu, and guided us to wonderful choices. She also kept an eye on the time for us, while also letting us simply enjoy the experience. All together a wonderful evening.
Very friendly waitress and staff. Excellent food. Clear view of chef's kitchen. Restaurant under new management now. Will close and reopen in June.
Food was excellent from a varied menu. The couple daily changes mixed it up. Service and level of attention was excellent once the overwhelmed young hostess who was trying to clear set seat and manage a rush got us our reserved table in the bar.
We went to Nicola’s on Valentines Day expecting a lovely, relaxing dinner. Our table was tiny and next to the window. In sub zero conditions, it was quite uncomfortable. The service was slow and not very attentive. It felt like there was not enough service staff. Surprising for such a big night in the restaurant industry. We felt like an afterthought each time our server came to the table, not a priority. The food was quite good. Each course was just the right size and was prepared brilliantly. Unfortunately it did not feel like a special night out for us.

Wonderful Valentine’s dinner! The 4 course meal and wine pairings were excellent and the service impeccable, not rushed or too slow. We had a great time thanks to the team at Nicolas.
Food was good. Octopus was a bit over charred. Carrot hummus was very good. Greens and dressing very good. Carbonara a bit disappointing. Green onions dont really belong in carbonara IMO. Pork belly , was cold and not very flavorful

Another outstanding meal - every dish was perfect and exceeded expectations! Very friendly server as well. This has become our go-to place for special occasions - we would come here more often but it is 40 mins away.

This was a treat for a birthday and I felt very cared for from the start. I called Mike to ask for a few things and he was very helpful. We did have a delay with our drinks but everything else was fabulous. I felt the ambiance was very relaxing and made me feel well cared for. The food was excellent and drinks were good too. The desserts were very tasty. This was pricey for us but well worth it to me for a special night out. Thank you all for your fabulous service.
Nicolas Keene is under new ownership. Change can be hard for some people to accept, but fortunately, the new owners are committed to authentic Italian cuisine. Last evening we had a wonderful birthday celebration. We had the house special, a white Bolognese ragu of pork, beef and wild boar with homemade pasta. The appetizer was gnocchi and squash with a light arugula sauce. I am only sorry that I won't be able to try their Valentine's Day Menu created by Culinary Director, Danieli Baliani.
Delicious and authentic Italian dining experience. The Caesar salad had some anchovy paste which was a nice surprise. I ordered the smaller Tagliatelle as it was recommended as something indicative of what they do well here. Perfect size portion with tasty homemade pasta, sauce and just the right amount of beef. The wine recommendation (Sangiovese blend) was ideal. Will definitely visit again during my next trip.

This was one of the best dinners I have had a Nicola's. The salmon was cook perfectly. The risotto was delicious and the portions were generous and spot on. My wife had the calamari (also cooked perfectly) and a side of beets that were wonderful. Our Server was attentive. Under the new ownership Nicola's Chef should feel free to take some liberties with the menu. Make Nicola's their own. Overall, we had a great dining experience.

We visited on NYE at 5:45pm with a reserved seat in the bar. There were very few tables with seated guests when we arrived. We had an appetizer which was good. The salads took a very long time to come out, however were good. The meal however also took a long time to come out. I don't believe we received our meals until almost 6:45pm. Had we been satisfied with the meals, the wait may not have felt so long, however my husband and I were both disappointed with our dishes. He had the salmon dish which had no flavor at all. It seemed to be a piece of fish cooked without any seasonings, perhaps this is the way it is prepared. My dish which was the chicken Milanese, a dish I have gotten many times was over
cooked, very dry and had little of the lemon sauce. I wasn't able to eat it:( We were on a time constraint, so I didn't bother bringing the dissatisfaction to our waiter's attention.
Just a bit disappointing and not what we are used to when dining at Nicolas.
Was a wonderful experience, accept that there was very loud , not very pleasing music playing . Had to ask several times for it to be turned off and there were several others there that had the same request. Would go back anytime!

This was a birthday dinner on Christmas Eve (when many other restaurants in town were closed -- so grateful Nicola's was open), and the staff did everything they could to accommodate our party of six, including allowing us to bring our own cake to serve for dessert (thank you!). I will say, that we loved everything about the OLD Nicola's with one glaring exception -- the amount of wait time between courses. The new Nicola's has figured out how to change that up completely, and the mood and responses from every person working there was one of wanting to meet the desires of the customer, whatever they were. My husband even ordered something that wasn't even on the menu and they were able to accommodate him. Our waiter, Jennifer, was super competent, speedy and able to anticipate our needs. The chefs in the kitchen were fascinating to watch as they worked together to coordinate the dishes and put out perfectly cooked and presented food. I will also add that the wine list and cocktail options are now expanded and clearly chosen with care and expertise. All in all, a memorable night out. We will be back!

Nice atmosphere on Christmas Eve for a quiet dinner for two. Service was excellent. Drinks fantastic (blood orange margarita is highly recommended). Food was great. We had lobster spaghetti, Cesar salad, mushroom pizza. We were too full for desert but our waitress skillfully laid the desert menus on the table walk-by hit and run style and it worked. We shared the Zepole and were glad we did. A well-run establishment doing things right that I can recommend. Not inexpensive but delivers a quality dining experience.
Terrific experience, great wine and perfect Bolognese!
It took us 3 years to get back here after an overpriced meal. we found the new ownership has changed the experience. The Sauce on my Veal Picatta was light with a hint of lemon. Ideal for soaking up with the last slice of moist and excellent bread. The Rack of lamb was tasty and not overwhelming. We splurged on sharing a chocolate cake dessert with a crunch of shaved chocolate to put it over the top. Oh and the VO on the rocks was a generous pour. Decafe coffee was even special too. we will return soon.

Nicolas Keene is under new ownership. They have done an excellent job of maintaining the quality of the food. The atmosphere is conducive to conversation. Even with a band in the bar area, the sound was not a problem. The homemade pasta is excellent. Mike, the new General Manager was on hand to meet and greet customers.

The appetizer with duck was good-lobster pasta was fair, small amount of lobster for the cost; veal was tough and the knife not sufficient to cut with; feel cost is high for our value. We used to go more frequently; have to work on pricing and quality of the food-
Waiter nice but never offered more water or a refill for my seltzer

I HAVE BEEN THERE MANY TIMES OVER A 25 YEAR PERIOD(WHEN NICOLA OWNED IT) AND IT WAS ALWAYS WONDERFUL. THIS WAS FIRST TIME SINCE NEW OWNERS AND I WAS DISAPPOINTED. PORTIONS WERE SMALLER, PRICES WERE HIGHER, MENU WAS TOTALLY DIFFERENT(HARD TO READ), CHICKEN MILANAISE WAS JUST OK(VERY DIFFERENTA0 FROM BEFORE. WINE WAS VERY HIGH PRICED.
Another fabulous meal at Nicola's! Great Italian wine list too - not very many places you can get a great Barolo by the glass!
Nicola’s was a very pleasant surprise as we had not been to Keene in some years. Delicious dishes, fun cocktails, very busy scene in attractive surroundings.
The food was excellent. The service was where Nicola gets less than a 5 and could be addressed with training. The waiter was extremely pleasant, but somewhat distracted by other clients. There were no plates for our appetizers—only bread plates. My husband ordered steak but did not get a steak knife. When a second bottle of wine was ordered—a different wine— the glasses were not changed. All of these are minor and could be fixed easily.
We love eating at Nicola’s. The calamari was sliced very thin, fried, and served with aioli—a refreshing change from marinara sauce. The charcuterie board and other appetizers were approved by all. Substitutions were handled well, and the pizzas were larger than expected. It was so good, but not overwhelming.
As usual, the food was served and prepared properly. On this occasion, we were served at a table in the lounge; this was excellent; the noise level was low, and the windows provided an excellent view.
Lobster spaghetti was delicious. Bibb lettuce special was simply delicious too
I have been coming to this restaurant for a few years and have always loved the food. This past visit was a disappointment. The calamari appetizer was good, not great, with a dipping sauce without much flavor. The gnocci with chicken in a gorgonzola sauce was very salty, and the gnocci were really tiny - this was a favorite in the past. We also got the carbonara which was also not very tasty and quite dry. The salmon over the beet risotto was good, not great. Overall, not anywhere near the quality of the many past visits. Excellent service though. Not sure I will go back.
Since new ownership has taken over Nicolas (note: there is NO apostrophe in the word, Nicolas), we have eaten there at least once a month. Friday was the first time that one of the entrees was not good. The Veal Picatta's veal had not been pounded out and was very tough. I am hoping this was just a "blip" in an otherwise outstanding restaurant.
We have been going to Nicola’s for many years and have enjoyed it most of the time. It has recently changed hands and has a new menu. The new menu is a refreshing change and the wine list has many offerings. The food and the service was excellent.
