Full flavours of France. Great ambience & friendly, helpful staff. Could have had a few more French wines, but overall a good mix of local, interstate & o.s. wines. Love the open windows at the front, but pity they can't be closed at the bottom & open at the top, as noise, dust & breeze sometimes is a bit too much! Overall a great experience. Merci à tous!
Noir is always a great dining experience. Their sauces are magnificent and the oysters with champagne granita to die for!
Great restaurant with a really welcoming atmosphere.
Shared plate was one of the best I've had and the service was friendly and punctual.
Will definitely go back.
Beautifully presented and tasting food. Their grazing menu is more than enough for even the biggest appetite, delicious flavours.
Great food and service. Staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Every dish we had was delicious. I will be dining here again.
Well worth making a booking ..truely delicious food and wine you will not be disappointed..
Unfortunately I had a very disappointing experience at your restaurant on Friday, 31 January when I took for very important clients out for lunch to impress them. When I made the booking online for 1:45 PM, I had no idea that at 2:45 PM the waitress would be asking us to hurry up with our main food orders as the kitchen closed at 3 PM.. Then when our meals were bought out, they were not of the standard expected of a restaurant with a price point such as yours. Steaks that were asked to be medium rare came out medium well and when we informed the waitress of this she said that the chef needs to hear this feedback as he is learning and needs to know how to get it right. The restaurant was also incredibly hot to the point where all of us were sweating and eventually we spotted a small fan behind us and put it on so that we could feel somewhat relieved of the heat. All up it was quite an embarrassing lunch for me in front of such an important client group.
Everything at Noir strikes the perfect balance between low key bistro and special occasion restaurant. Friendly and personal service, yet precise and refrained. Outstanding food, balancing French standards with experimental quirks, and without pretension. The interior is elegant, well-considered, beautifully finished, yet simple, warm and inviting.
My partner and I love Noir, there are so many great places to eat in Melbourne and we keep coming back here. Everyone we have bought with us has loved it too. Please keep up the good work guys, don’t ever change
Delicious food and excellent service. Thoroughly recommend!
This is our third visit to Noir and we were very disappointed. First the ambiance is lovely and on a Wednesday night the noise level was all good. We have been on the weekend when the noise level is such that it is impossible to have a conversation as the tables are so close together.
Also the service was welcoming and professional. The venue is very much weighted to sea food (which I am not able to eat). We had the duck as a main and whilst it was acceptable it did not have a 1 one hat wow flavour. The duck at Chez Oliver is much better in my opinion.
The wine list has lots of selections scored out (not a feature of a 1 hat restaurant) and needs to be updated. The price is at the 1 hat level but not great value. I hope the owners review their menu as Richmond definitely needs fine dining restaurants.
Beautiful food again from Peter and the team. Excellent produce, well executed and most of all thoroughly tasty..a wonderful place to celebrate Mums 80th
Food is exceptional
Service and knowledge first class
We had imaginative, delicious and immaculately presented food. The service from Alice was friendly, knowledgeable, efficient and obliging. BYO wine was welcomed and served stylishly (we were there on a Thursday), the tables were generously sized and well spaced and the music was pleasant, subdued and not intrusive. This was an outstanding restaurant experience.
Always a pleasure to enjoy the delicious food at Noir.
I used to love Noir but it seemed like the standard had dropped. The duck was dry. And the gnocchi cauliflower sauce tasted a bit watered down.
As always great food done well. This was our third time at Noir over a number of years, never disappoints.
Our second time here in a fortnight. Hatting well deserved. Small, well constructed, quality menu. Good value with BYO a bonus. Perhaps a little noisy when full.
Sumptuous food! Classic French, elegant and far from pretentious. Certainly a perfect place for a special dinner.
We had the sharing menu. A great way to taste many dishes for a fixed price. The food was absolutely delicious. The cocktails were lovely. The wait staff were friendly and efficient, but didn’t bring the bill when asked. Had to wait and ask again. Why are restaurant staff so coy about asking patrons to pay their bill ? !,
I had a great time dining at Noir to celebrate my birthday recently. The food tasted very delicious! I especially love the chicken pate profiteroles and crab tortellini. Yum!
A fabulous restaurant, amazing attentive service from friendly staff. The food was delicious, and beautifully presented we have been many times and will keep returning. Thanks.
A superb and good value lunch. A bit noisy as some fellow diners were very much enjoying the Christmas spirit. The service was efficient and well placed and i have already recommended Noir's Express lunch to several others.
Noir is a great restaurant in Richmond. The service is very good and the food excellent.
Main was cold, but service was brilliant entrees, cheese platter and coffee was great.
excellent service, very friendly, food outstanding and affordable, definitely highly recommended.
Delicious food in a quiet space with plenty of room between tables. Noir never disappoints.
Altogether an enjoyable experience; the amuse bouches and sweet treats were excellent, but the beef was slightly dry and a little tough. A nibble of my friend’s omelette was most rewarding!
The downside was a very noisy table next door - extremely intrusive - I wonder if the acoustics might be improved to a more compatible dining experience?
Thank you, I shall come again.
this is my 3rd visit. Small menu selection but all good and not very noisy - a big plus when you want to chat and enjoy good food.
Great food and impeccable service we would highly recommend Noir
We were greet favourably by a member of staff. We then were offered a choice of tables and selected one to our satisfaction. The menus were presented. It was a Sunday lunch, luckily (for us) the restaurant was not full. We could hear our conversation quite clearly, and had a view of the street activities. Our entree selection made, whilst enjoying a dry vermouth, were the oysters with champagne granita. A new experience for us, the granita that is. They were excellent, deliciously fresh and the granita prolonged the taste experience. Meanwhile we had ordered a bottle of Pinot Gris which, when sipped, assisted with glorious effect. For main course we chose the rocking. This was presented with great care, in addition we had a basket of pommes frites and a green leaf salad which had been doused in an imaginatively concocted dressing and confetti like Parmesan. The service was attentive at all times during the meal. For dessert we shared a portion of date, ginger and toffee pud. The coffee served was correctly heated (not boiled to death). The bill reflected our various purchases, and this we gladly paid. We were bid farewell and surprisingly left to open the door ourselves! Is this a French behavioural trait, or did we expect too much?
first time there and we had a great time - food and service were spot - great value.
We simply had a really good time.
Great service, great food, really nothing but good to say about our dinner.
Thank you guys
Have dined at Noir several times and NEVER been disappointed! This time we dined with foodie friends who’d not been there. As always superb and delicately prepared food with each course delicious for all four of us. Friends will be beating a path to Noir’s door again soon! For me. A lovely birthday dinner!
Everything was spot on. Reasonably priced tasting menu, gorgeous food and great service. I can't believe I haven't been before. One of the best overall dining experiences I've had in recent memory. I'm a 30yr hospitality veteran so this praise doesn't come lightly. Its a very good restaurant.
We had a very enjoyable lunch.
Service was excellent, friendly, helpful and efficient.
Food was very good, all round would recommend Noir.
Never fails to deliver on all counts. Always walk away smiling.
Fabulous food and wine. The only fault was the noise level - very difficult to converse.
Amazing food! Will definitely be returning again!
