The whole evening was an absolutely disgusting experience - will never go back ... the assistant manager (manager wasn't there) was blatantly RUDE to us ... there were three of us, and my dish came out as the others were finishing. Then she (the asst. manager) proceeded to lecture ME about how long it takes to make a hard boiled egg (which I had requested with my Ramen dish, when I ordered it). NEVER going back.

Excellent meal and service. The patio with heaters made for a very pleasant evening as we dined with our dogs. The sashimi was outstanding fresh and delicious the ramen was very good as was the noodles. Very enjoyable meal.

We have been to the two locations in Scottsdale. Both places are similar but the least crowded is at Via paseo. The food and service are good and consistent! We highly recommend!

There was live music playing, just a guy and a guitar but he was sooo incredibly loud. His speaker was turned on so high it was hard to hear yourself think. When the server took my drink order he yelled what 3 times because he couldn’t hear my answer. Insane. Also the food was not flavorful and the bao buns came out cold as well as the gyzo. I will not be going back.

Took about 10 minutes to get seated despite having a reservation. Secondly, they only had one server in the who restaurant that the bartender had to help.

Been here a few times. Last visit was for restaurant week – unfortunately, we could tell that the Crispy Tuna dish was sitting out for a while and didn't taste fresh. Must have been an off day because every other time we visited, everything was delish! Everything else during restaurant week on the other hand (especially the Oban Ramen) was fuego! 🔥😋

This place is consistently excellent! I love the fact that you can make reservations. Their drinks are great and their sushi/ramen is outstanding. The pricing is a tad high, but it’s Scottsdale so understandable. They do have a weekly happy hour so that’s a huge plus! Also, Great service so we’ll definitely be back!

Went to dinner for a quick date night with my husband. The place was very clean and not as busy as I would have imagined for a Saturday night. We arrived at our reservation time and were seated right away. For appetizers, we started with edamame, gyoza, and Pork belly. All three were great. I had the street noodles and he had the tonkotsu ramen. Both were delicious. Our waiter was friendly but we had to remind him of a couple of items. Overall enjoyed our dinner and would return.

Food was not good. We ordered fried rice, noodles and 2 different sushi rolls and could hardly eat any of it. Server was really nice and helpful though.

Food was very bland – no miso cubes in the miso soup. Whoever made the food just didn’t know how to spice it. In my opinion, We won’t go back most likely.

We had a great experience at OBON. We had a few rolls, yellowtail collar, calamari, yuzu yellowtail, and crispy rice. It was all delicious and a great value. We will definitely be back.

Not sure what has happened to Obon. We showed up for our scheduled reservation and we probably waited about 15 minutes at the hostess stand before we were greeted. When we were finally greeted, the woman informed us that she was the only server on for the evening - she was also the only one working the bar and seating tables. No joke one server, trying to do all the jobs in the restaurant. Clearly, I don’t blame her as she was literally the only one to show up for work that night. We decided to leave. Such a shame because we do love coming to this location. Don’t think we will be back.

This was a late night stop after a long event and we were right on time for reverse happy hour (8pm-close). The food was okay/good. The Tonkatsu ramen wasn’t very flavorful and I don’t know if it was because of the time we arrived (8:30pm) or it we got a bad batch. It wasn’t great but it wasn’t bad either. The spicy tuna and salmon rolls were good. They hit the spot and tasted pretty fresh. The cucumber salad isn’t marinated but more so fresh cucumber barely coated in the chili pepper. The service was also okay/decent. He checked in about 3 times during our visit. Wasn’t very attentive to the check as I had to go back for corrections (food wasn’t priced at happy hour prices). It was taken care of once brought up. Overall, it’s a decent place to stop in. I hope your experience will be better than mine.

We used to frequent Obon at the grove very often and loved there sushi. Now Not anymore. Prices went up and quality went down. Don’t wait your money on their Poke bowl total rip off.

Careful sitting on the outside benches. I got splinters on the back of my legs from them. Also the service was slow and decidedly nonchalant. We ordered uni, it never showed up, it wasn’t on the bill but you’d think that maybe they would let us know if they were out of it? Maybe we would have ordered more food. We also ordered the cucumber salad. The ingredients were fresh but it was not a well composed salad and definitely executed well. The cucumbers were very thick slices and had almost no seasoning/dressing on them. The pork belly appetizer was really good. My spam and kimchi fried rice was also good. Cocktails were good.

Had an early dinner Tuesday night with the wife. Was rather disappointed this time as usually my dish is fresh including the rice. This time, it seemed the entrees were from last Saturday. It’s unfortunate. We didn’t say anything as the service level also fell to a new low. Maybe it was an “off “ night, but as potential “regular” clients you’d think there would be better checks and balances to ensure their high ratings.

This was our first time at Obon. The staff was great as well as the service. The sushi was spot on and fresh. They have nice patio seating and is dog friendly. A good local restaurant.

The food was excellent, the service was great. We have eaten there a number of times and will continue to eat there. The atmosphere was not as good as the food and service. That would not keep us from eating again. All in all, we enjoy eating there and will continue to do so.

The food was pretty good but as other commenters have posted, the service is still pretty terrible. We were not the only table receiving apologies for the long wait either. Not sure if it was one server in particular or the kitchen being back up but there were quite a few unhappy customers in one specific area. We were sat and when the server finally came over we gave them our order coke, tea, 1 bao bun, 1 sushi roll and a ramen. The coke and the roll were forgotten. Someone else brought our food, refilled our drinks and ran our credit card… it all turned out to be fairly amusing. It was a Sun night and only about 10 tables in the whole place. It would have been nice to blame the service on them being slammed but…
