We dine at Oliveto every few months. The food, service and atmosphere are always superb. Their polenta is incredible and their pizzas are wonderful.
Great service. Great food.
Love, love love Oliveto - fantastic food, friendly people, beautiful place for a nice night out.
I love this place.
Excellent meal -felt very safe in our own little pod with respectful server. Menu creative and well presented
Fantastic food!
It has been so very long since we went out to eat...! The entire evening was a delight.
Was very surprised w the lack of attention to the table...and current environment. It was obvious that the staff was off for a while to the point of suggesting things we had no interest in, and pushed food we were not hungry a for. Restaurants who survive post pandemic will need to check their egos at the door and focus on the customers experience v. what the staff feels it should be for you. Look at some of the places which are packed every night and hopefully you’ll see a difference and able to stay a float
Food is consistently fabulous. They have pivoted to provide outdoor dining which is quite nice!
Fantastic food and fantastic service. I'm looking forward to dining there again soon.
We were seated inside the restaurant upstairs, which was great. They are maintaining distance between tables, wearing masks, and we felt safe throughout our dinner. Wonderful food and service.
the food was not worth the value
Olivetto is handling the pandemic restricitons admirably. The outdoor seating works, and the service is still top notch. Of course, the ambiance of the street is not the same as the beautiful interior, but it's hard to imagine a better solution than what they are doing. The food was delicious as usual, but there was no coffee or tea except for espresso, which I found odd. The bread pudding was disapointing, but we sent it back and were not charged for it.
Great job, Olivetto! This was our first COVID dining experience and we felt so safe. Tables were all outside and well distanced. Hand sanitizer was available and we were instructed to use it before sitting down. All the servers and employees wore masks and everyone kept their distance. And the food was excellent of course.
This was our first dining out since the beginning of the pandemic. It was lovely. great service and food. it felt safe and thoughtful with following COVID protocols. thank you!
Covid 19 outdoor dining, they did a very good job under difficult circumstances.
If you are looking for a truncated menu, snarky service, and okay food, this is your place. Oh and you have to appreciate over-priced food. I won't be going back.
Exquisite food and outstanding service in these Covidian times, including an amazing wine rec. We'll be back!
Same great food and service, served safely outside.
Great food and outdoor seating!
Great service, a bit noisy (due to the street where it’s located) but overall good experience
The food and service were great. Our table was on the sidewalk so I felt more comfortable than if I were to be seated at the tables enclosed by that wooden structure and on the street.
Thank you to the staff at Oliveto for a wonderful “outside” dinner.
Food was very good. Our server was impatient and rude. It was obvious she was annoyed at serving us before we opened our mouths. It was apparent that not all were like this as the other servers and wait staff were great. She almost ruined the night, but the sausage pizza and past saved the day.
Oliveto is a favorite of ours. Because of the pandemic, we hadn't visited for a long time. We were prepared to "rough it" with seating on the street, but we were delighted with the whole experience.
The food, as ever, was wonderful; the service was impeccable, and we were surprised to discover that we actually enjoyed eating outside.
It is wonderful to see an old favorite of ours roll with the punches and rise to the occasion. Thank you!
Fancy restaurant serving the "cafe" menu, sandwiches, pizza and salad? WTF? Covid or no Covid we have been to many restaurants who are still serving their same menu. This place is a rip off. living off their reputation isn't enough going the extra mile especially during covid seems to be a better strategy.
My fiance and I made our reservations for 6:30. We were promptly seated and given menus. We ordered appetizers and drinks which came rather quickly and were delicious. We had the corn polenta, meatballs and almond/olives combo. However, after that- our waitress was a little slow at attending to us. She was nice, but wasn't very personable and we had to flag her down each time we wanted something. It took us awhile to order from her but she was always quick to bring the food/drinks so I'll give her that. I ordered the pasta of the day which was a spaghetti with vegetables with a red sauce. It was extremely good and I could tell the pasta is fresh based off the look and consistency of it. The flavors were exquisite and I enjoyed every bite. My fiance ordered the goat sausage which he said was very good as well. He said it was his favorite thing he'd eaten in awhile. I tried it, but it was too gamey for me personally. For dessert, we had to flag the waitress down again and we ordered every dessert they had. I'll start with the bread pudding. The bread pudding was soooo yummy! The portions were great for two people. We also had the chocolate cake which was extremely rich and luxurious, but too rich for my taste lol. The cookies are good, but a little too crispy for my taste. I dunked them in my cappucino which was delightful to say the least! Will we come back again? Absolutely! But I hope we get a different waitress.
Ambiance: outside on the sidewalk due to Covid-19, very pretty and refreshing actually. We are people watchers so we didn't mind. Would love to come back and try more of their pasta dishes. I miss Italy so much.. Thx for reading!
Really mediocre food. Starters were cold, pizza feels like a frozen pie cooked and brought to the table. Would not recommend.
Things in the world are totally changed and gone are the places we used to rely on to give us a lift. On my anniversary I wanted a go somewhere I knew to give me a lift after 6 mos. of little going out. I thought Oliveto would do that... no, they have done the bare minimum to just put the food out. My daughter told me not to go that they cook the food early and then reheat it for dinner. I went anyway cause this has been my place forever. First the setting is so bare bones and minimal if you’re looking for the upstairs experience. I asked for a tablecloth and was told I was not at that kind of table. Pleading it was my anniversary, the waiter acquiesced and did bring us glasses of champagne which was nice. We ordered the warm salmon salad thinking they couldn’t mess that up, but what they could do is not give you very much of it! I get it that things are really tough for restaurants right now but as someone who wants to go out and support them, give me something a little better then a seat in the street at these prices. Let’s all try to help each other during these times .
Outstanding! The food was just great: heritage tomato salad and Kampachi, followed by Pappardelle and Branzino, capped off with a luscious Flourless Bittersweet Chocolate Cake. Boy did we have a wonderful time including the alfresco dining and a couple of shared glasses of wine. The only thing less-than-perfect was that the dishes came out a little too fast.
In these difficult times, Oliveto provided a very needed and delightful experience. The summer special menu had an array of great dishes, highlighted by a delicious, seasonal pizza with peaches. For upscale dining, Oliveto had very affordable pricing and great ambience. I look forward to returning before the evenings become too cold.
Great street venue. Felt like Europe!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Always the best quality! Fresh Creative and delicious Every time
Olivetos has made as good a transition from tranquil refined dining at a stratospheric level of cooking to a sidewalk & street pop-out with elan and style. A sensibly shortened menu—-but with great performance. The matre d AND owner were there and about, talking to regulars—-and doing informal quality control on the service and food. The result is as good as street-side dining is likely to get in these times, and there ingenuity and perseverance is to be applauded
As good as COVID dining gets.
Was great! Service was beyond sweet and accommodating. Food was delicious. Everything was very clean.
Dry lasagna. Also, my waiter had my plate in his hand while visiting another table... that's a no-no during a pandemic. He corrected it though.
Birthday dinner for my husband
During this time of pandemic, it is great to see that College Ave in Oakland has stepped up to allow dining on the sidewalks/parking areas. So, go to patronize the restaurants- they need our support during this time. Oliveto's experience was the cafe-experience.
Food was nice with the limited cafe menu. The Tomato/Avocado Salad with pesto was the most memorable. Lasagna was heavy on the tomato, but good. The brisket was tender and tasty, could have used more sauce. The Brocolini on both our plates was a bit tough.
Service was helpful & friendly and not too obtrusive. The sound of HWY 24 is difficult to escape and can be overpowering, but it looks like Oliveto's has a piano player on some nights to help with the sound? I am looking forward to Oliveto's Restaurant serving soon too, for more refined dining and flavors. But the Cafe is a good option for outdoor dining with simple menu!
Poor service, wrong wine brought to table midway through meal, lasagne was anemic, one third of it comprised of layers of pasta with nothing in between. However, the cocktail was great!
