It's a bit loud but reliably good
They do a nice job. Really loud though for a business lunch.
Not until they re-open after renovation. They were short on a lot of items listed on the menu because they were not re-stocking at this time
Food was delicious and great service!
Loud and slow service food was jsut ok but waiter was generally very nice
We used to like to come here as it was across from the Opera House. Last visit we had steaks that were over cooked and grossly, stale bread, tasteless and dry apple pie and a chocolate martini where there was little if any chocolate. We probably will not go back. A shame, it used to be great!
Dinner was delicious; the wait staff was most accommodating.
The cosmopolitans were awful -- too sweet with hardly any alcohol. We asked for better ones, he brought the same ones back with an extra dash of lime juice. Really? The grilled asparagus tasted like propane was spilled on it. The whitefish was so overpowered with sweet potatoes, squash and other sides that it got lost -- and you could barely taste it. We did like the dessert of mango sherbet and fresh fruit. Our waiter was excellent -- it wasn't his fault about the food and drink.
Great experience for my staff team - food and service was great!
Great pre opera dinner choices. Very good service
One North Kitchen never disappoints. We enjoy a quick meal there before the opera. The food is great, the servers are attentive and aware of the need to get out in time for the downbeat. Service was especially good on our last visit. I highly recommend this place.
Service is good. Burger is a pre-made patty; not my favorite. Everything else was fine.
We have eaten there many time before going to the opera across the street. However, this time the service was poor, the food was mediocre and cold when served
Our waiter didn’t seem to be concerned
I doubt we will return
I had a reward that I had earned through Open Table that I wanted to use at this place. I was informed by our waitress that the manager on site, Erica, would not honor this reward (even though this establishment uses Open Table). When I asked why she would not honor the reward, I was not given any answer. I have been to this place several times but due to this atrocious customer service from their manager Erica, I will never be visiting this place again.
Directly across Wacker from the Lyric Opera, this spacious restaurant/bar serves appetizers, sandwiches, salads, soups, and entrees--all guided by Laura Piper, formerly chef at Trattoria No. 10. The "happy hour" at 1N extends from 3-8 pm, including reduced prices on drinks, flatbreads, and other small bites. My wife and I enjoyed our dinner (turkey chili, rigatoni with brisket ragu, berries with mango sorbet) and Claudio's very patient and friendly service was exceptional.
Nice place to host lunch with office visitors
Solid restaurant. The food is delicious as is the service. Never a disappointment.
After several visits the service and food have been inconsistent.
We ate there om an opera night. The menu is limited, but the Steak Medallion Salad was good. There is no bread basket as a starter & I would have enjoyed a roll w/ the salad. My husband had clam chowder & a cheese burger which were fine. The wine menu is a little pricy as there are no house wines. Service was excellent.
This has always been a go-to lunch spot; I thought I would try it for pre-opera dinner. I was disappointed that the lighting was more like a sports bar than pre-theater restaurant. The food was okay, but not as flavorful as it could be and the service was out of character. The waiter was very polite, however the team kept trying to take our plates away, even when we were clearly still enjoying the meal.
I'll go back for lunch but would not recommend it for dinner.
Great place to get a quick lunch however service was somewhat slow in getting Waiter and servers attention.
Dinner and the service were exceptional. I have food allergies which the chef acknowledged and prepared a top notch entree. I love this place.
Good spot for dinner after Lyric matinee opera.
Food was good. They were very responsive to my dining companion's dietary requirements, which was great. We were there on opera night and despite a full house the food arrived promptly and we made it to Lyric without any issues. From my point of view, the only problem I see is that the opera night menu doesn't include any vegetarian entrees--I wound up having an appetizer and a salad instead, but an actual entree would have been nice.
I’d recommend before opera for sure. Not sure why i didn’t get open table points for this reservation.
Excellent service and food
This is an wonderful restaurant. The food is excellent. The service is outstanding: Both times I’ve been here, the wait staff has made me feel as if I am the only customer there when the place is packed. I highly recommend it!
Delicious food and drink and delightful wait staff!
Had a great lunch. Salad was fabulous and would go back again.
This was like going to a very overpriced Applebee’s. They give you no bread with the soup or salad, which are pretty basic. The burger was so charred, I felt like I was giving myself cancer right then and there. The only redeeming thing was the service. Our server was absolutely delightful. Overall, major thumbs down experience.
We chose this restaurant because we had opera tickets for Saturday evening and they stay open for that event (usually open evenings only on M-F). We're from out of town so wanted a convenient restaurant. The food was great. The server was very helpful in choosing our selection and an accompanying wine. And, knowing that the patrons are going on to the opera, service is efficient and quick.
Convenient for post matinee opera drinks and dinner.
Great pre-opera lunch or dinner spot! A bit noisy for conversation, but a wonderful city spot.
This restaurant is right across the street from the Lyric Opera and a very nice alternative to the restaurants there. Service is excellent and the food is very good and freshly prepared. The only downside is the noise. The acoustic in the dining room is such that it is almost impossible to carry on a conversation when it is busy.
The food here is amazing. Everything is wonderful. The only negative is that it is a very noisy restaurant.
Not good for birthdays since my twin brother & I were celebrating ours, and they didn’t even acknowledge it
Very convenient for before opera.
I ordered chicken with lemon sauce, it was just plain chicken, no lemon flavor. We shared a Caesar salad. One plate set between us, no spoon or extra plates.
Perfect corporate lunch place in the Loop. Always get good food and good service. Thanks.
