Onward's menu is small, but the execution is just about perfect .Great cocktails, too. I strongly recommend them.
The food at Onward is so incredibly delicious! The restaurant was doing a Key West theme and everything from the hot, fluffy biscuits with honey mango butter, to the mahi mahi tacos, to the perfectly prepared red snapper, to the decadent chocolate slab cake was excellent. The red snapper is out of this world! Our server Abby was excellent also - super friendly and enthusiastic about the food. Great experience.
Very good food. Enjoyed the ambiance. Service was very nice. Felt like it was too expensive for what we got though. Don’t know if I would return based on the pricing.
I went to dinner here at Onward with my niece and nephew to celebrate my birthday and was very pleasantly surprised at how comfortable this restaurant is! Vincente greeted us at the door with a warm welcome and our server was a delight. I had filet with crab legs that was perfect!! they also have a separate room area that I am looking forward to having a company event at. I highly recommend Onward to anyone and everyone! So great to have them in the neighborhood
We had looked at the menu prior to going and instead of the regular menu it was a Key West pop up. We may have missed this on website. We really enjoyed the food and the bartender was Great. He sensed our disappointment and went above and beyond to help us. The staff also really seemed to like their jobs.
Man, that was a good brunch! Some of the best fish tacos I've had and I always love a good bloody mary with a beer back! Service was prompt, efficient and friendly... Can't wait til next time

The food is excellent and service were flawless! We had the bread service, cup of cream of parsnip soup, the vermont bijou with brussel sprouts, lobster lasagnette, and winter squash ravioli. The food was delicious!! For dessert we got the key lime pie, which was tasty but a little heavy.
My only problems are with the space, and I am a designer so perhaps a little particular. There is a living plant wall with a very strong grow light. The wall is beautiful, but the light is too strong and too cool, and really detracts from the rest of the space. There is also an in wall fireplace that was missing some trim around the wall tile where it is inserted - we could see the backer board for the tile. And finally, the barrel vault is very cool, but it carries sound a little too well from one side of the room to the other. We could hear a conversation from the other side of the vault as if they were next to us. If the owners are paying attention - I would recommend doing something about that grow light during service.
Everything was delicious! Will absolutely return. Do yourself a favor and get the pastry board for brunch!
We dined at Onward for Valentine's Day. We were only able to get a high top in the bar area, but we received very good service even so. The food was quite good and we enjoyed the evening.
First time visiting Onward. Great menu options as well as drink. Ordered the short rib, could have been a bit warmer. Desserts of slab cake and key lime were amazing. Stopped at the bar afterward and had a scotch and cognac. Very nice folks!
We had the Red Snapper with coconut rice as well as a brussels sprouts side dish which they easily and graciously adapted to our dietary need.Wine pairing was excellent.
We went for Restaurant Week. Everything was delicious and interesting, inventive menu. We liked the location, out of the busier neighborhoods with easy parking. We will definitely go back.
2nd time at this new Loyola restaurant and continue to be blown away by the quality, attention and shocking lack of customers on a Friday night! GREAT creative cocktails and wine list, top flight menu and outstanding knowledgeable service — at a reasonable price. Go before it catches fire and you can’t get in!
Went to try the restaurant week selections, but instead ordered a porterhouse with grilled knob onions and a mushroom foie gras sauce. We started with the bread service, chicken liver mousse, grilled oysters, and finished with a key lime dessert. Everything was incredible. Our server, Todd was knowledgeable, charming and made great recommendations. Chef Patrick Russ is the best!
The food was delicious. The server was attentive and very polite; he also made sure to check in on our party often, but not to the point where I would become a nuisance.

I was there for restaurant week and everything was fantastic. Did the wine pairing as well. Good portions and wonderful flavors.
There was only one waiter for the entire restaurant. Service was very slow. 2 1/2 hours for two people.
Delicious food!! Really fresh and innovative but not too much. Just right! I will recommend you friends/family! My dad lives right down the block and I’m in neighborhood. Didn’t think food would be as good -looooved it!! A bit pricey-spent almost $200 for 2 ppl thank goodness food was excellent! :) Like to take my dad for his b-day!
Three of us shared several appetizers and entrees. All were deliciously seasoned and well prepared. Must come back!
We had a wonderful experience at Onward. Food was great, and it was a very quiet evening. More people should try this restaurant. It is a little pricey for the neighborhood, but wonderful nonetheless.

Stumbled upon Onward and so glad we did. Everything we ordered was amazing. My Steak Bavette was perfect. My friend ordered the pasta special (Onward makes their own pasta) and it was truly special. Can't wait to be back.
flavor and presentation outstanding. While the seating and layout is very comfortable the decor and music don’t exactly match the contemporary menu. Don’t let the location in the hotel discourage you. This is not your typical hotel food at all. Creative flavors that compliment perfectly. Everything fresh and delicious. My group of 4 split 3 entrees, 2 salads and bread board (worth the extra $). Def enough food for big eaters.
This place is a hidden gem. We went for lunch/brunch and everything from the salads to the egg dishes was fantastic! Even the desserts were great. Highly recommended.
Beautiful food and ambience. Started with kohlrabi/beet carpaccio and went from there. Can't believe Rogers Park finally has an excellent choice for fine dining. Will be back soon.

What a surprise - we reserved a table last minute and could not have been happier with the experience. The meal was outstanding, wonderful ambiance and the service was attentive but not overpowering. We will be back.
