Osteria del Pastaio
Was understaffed, slow to receive meals and check. Manager was not overly concerned when informed of dirty washrooms.
Weekend trip to Chicago - found this place and greatly enjoyed it from start to finish. Friendly and attentive staff - food was delicious - great atmosphere - very reasonable price.
If ever in Chicago again, we are going back!
The atmosphere and food was amazing. Special thanks to George for making us feel so welcome!
Service was slow and food was ok not great. I had the shrimp ravioli and the filling tasted weird and noodles were undercooked
Wonderful food! Definitely a neighborhood gathering place but a real find if you like Italian food! Will always be on our list when we return in the fall.
This has become one of our favorite go-to neighborhood Italian restaurants. Consistent experience, high quality food and you can almost always get a table. Love that part of it!
We love this restaurant food and vibe. It’s a great neighborhood place where you can enjoy a great meal. And you can actually have a conversation without trying to compete with a too loud noise level, which is great.
Thought I was back in Rome.
Food was spectacular. Service was just as wonderful. Wine was spot on. I’d come back here night after night to try all of their dishes. Ossobuco and Gnocchi were our choices and flavor was spot on perfect
Excellent place to have a nice quiet dinner. Excellent menu, and staff. Wine selection was very good. Menu will cater to most palates. This is my second visit here, my wife's first. She loved it and asked to return.
Wonderful food. Excellent service. Terrible bathroom shared with a Starbucks.
All I can say about this place is....meh....
This is the type of place I would expect in a strip mall in the suburbs, not in Streeterville. Food was alright, there was an outstanding app cooked in a cheese wheel, but other than that everything else was average at best.
Service was ok, seemed like they went all on the same page.
Bathroom looked like it belonged in a prison.
There are so many better options around there, this restaurant will be a hard pass moving forward
A real gem of an Italian restaurant! Great food, attentive service by Sasa and some fun thrown in via Sasha’s table side preparations.
Took a group of 6 to dinner at Osteria, service was outstanding everyone had a different pasta dish.
All enjoyed what they had, fair priced wine list.
Weekend brunch is a great deal. This is my second brunch visit. I’m a regular for lunch and dinners. Friendly staff. Great food. Many homemade item. The eggs Benedict with various options - ham, spinach or salmon - are all great.
Delicious pasta! Spinach gnocchi in lobster sauce spoke to me. It told me secrets about the universe.
Plus our server was lovely.
Thank you for a wonderland special dining experience.
A random selection while downtown last week and really were pleased with the choice. Osobuco was great - tender and tasty. Gnocchi was like puffs of clouds and desert nearly did us in.
Excellent restaurant. Very good quality dishes, excellent service, and a great date night place.
There is no doubt that their pasta is housemade - tender, fresh and tasty. The gnocci with lobster sauce is one dish I could eat every time but I force myself to try something different - like the fettucini al pastore - excellent! And if I can't make up my mind, I can choose a pasta shape and one of their many sauces and create my own pasta dish. All of this and Julia to serve it. Her charm and friendly banter enhance the experience. I can't wait to return.
Our food was amazing. My father who is an amazing chef said it was one of the best meals he has had in years. The service was phenomenal and the experience was over all wonderful
Gnocchi in lobster sauce is the BEST. Goat cheese in bacon was excellent. Service was very friendly. Bathrooms need to ne updated.
The food was good. Nice wine list. Good prices. However, I went on a Tuesday night & a bit under staffed. The host and bartender all pitched in hut could have done with another waiter.
Delicious! Only thing that could use improvement is the bathrooms, which were quite bad. Everything else was amazing!
Fantastic Service! The server was very attentive and provided great recommendations! The food was fantastic!
Service was friendly but because we weren’t ordering alcohol this visit, the service was not as attentive as normally.
Osteria del Pastaio is a friendly neighborhood gem in a very posh neighborhood. The staff is welcoming and professional, the food is homey and delicious and the prices are surprisingly reasonable, especially considering the blue-chip real estate it occupies. My crab/arugula salad was topped with a generous mound of crabmeat and dressed in a light lemon vinaigrette. Fresh pasta, resembling a thick spaghetti, in an angus ragu was perfectly al dente. Veal scallopini also was a generous portion, though its sauce was a bit lacking in personality. Another delight was the "Wine Of The Month," a delicious 2009 Primitivo for only $30 that paired perfectly with our meals. The menu is small enough not to overwhelm, but large enough to accommodate whatever one might be in the mood for. Speaking for myself, I'm in the mood to go back to Osteria del Pastaio, and soon.
This place was honestly the best pasta I’ve ever had. I had the pasta made in the 50 pound cheese wheel and it was incredible! The way they presented it and our waiter was amazing. The whole place is the best , you must go there.
The reviews are generally pretty good for this restaurant. Very misleading. The only thing true was low noise level, but that’s because the place was empty. I thought (from the reviews) that this would be a cool neighborhood place. Au Contraire! Food was miserable, service was not very good. If you are from out of town, go anywhere else. I was in Chicago for 4 nights, sienna tavern was great, Hugo’s was great and a lot of fun, Palageo was good but very expensive, this place was a dud! Avoid
Delicious but very rich
We live in near north and had never tried this restaurant. We will return. It was a nice size, reasonably quiet, and the food was very good. Pasta is done perfectly and very flavorful. Wines are good value. The chef was accommodating to a special request.
A great neighborhood restaurant!
Cute restaurant with amazing food! highly recommend
Fabulous experience! Food was delish! Service was spectacular. Must order the Pecorino al Tartufo Nero. The whole menu is incredible, can’t go wrong!
Great food, wonderful service. Neighborhood jewel!
An absolutely terrible experience! One of the most bizarre experiences I have encountered in a restaurant. Came in and majority of the restaurant was empty. There was maybe 3-4 parties seated at tables.
Was told by the “host” they could not seat us at a table since they were all booked for reservations for the night. Was taken to a high top table in the bar.
The waiter said he would have sat us anywhere, at all the open tables but he was being told by the host not to. I then looked on open table and saw they had SEVERAL reservations open for the night.
I booked a reservation went back to the front to check in and the host rolled his eyes at me saying did you just book it? I said yes, you have open tables and open reservations. The host then wanted to have an argument with me and didn’t want to seat me at a table at first. I said I made a reservation. He begrudgingly took me to a table. It was quite shocking how rude he was. At this point I felt uncomfortable staying at the restaurant because this host lied and didn’t want to seat us at a table. As a customer I don’t need to pay money to be treated disrespectfully. I will never return.
Our guests LOVED Osteria - they'll become regulars.
Waiter: all thought he was exceptional.
A great restaurant with a quiet atmosphere good for conversation.
The food is outstanding.
Everything was good, and the service was great, friendly, not at all rushed. We felt very welcome as we lingered at our table.
While the meal was outstanding, the service, with the dining area not overly crowded, was extremely slow....very disappointing!!!!
Wonderful authentic food, great welcoming service. Fantastic happy hour (3:30-6:30) wine options (even on weekends!). The only thing I was disappointed in was the restroom which is shared with the other vendors in the building.
The pasta was home made and had a great texture.
We went for lunch, so it was moderately priced (not sure about dinner menu pricing).
Over all value for the food was great
