My husband and I came for a Valentine's dinner. Not only was the food excellent but the service was impeccable. It was cozy, they were very attentive to our every need and it felt like being a guest it someone's home. My husband, who isn't the hugest fan of Italian food, absolutely loved every bit. He had the lamb canelloni which was creamy and melted in your mouth. The osso buco that I ordered was fall off the bone tender and packed full of flavor. We will definitely be back.
Always reliable and delicious!!!
We’ve been regulars here for years. The food is fantastic and the service is spectacular. And all for an truly reasonable price. I recommend Osteria to anyone looking for a romantic rendezvous or just in the mood for a Grade A lamb shank (my personal favorite dish).
Everything was incredible. Still having dreams about Carbonara.
This restaurant was disappointing. The initial service was good, but then they got busy and the waiter vanished. The food did not live up to the hype.
Fantastic - really great ambience and the food was delicious.
I had a reservation for 6:30 pm and had invited 2 guests to join. I was told to wait until my guests arrived and after 15 minutes, finally went into the dining room to see if they were there. They had also been waiting for me at the table. Very embarrassed as they were my invited guests. The female hostess throughout the dinner keep coming by to clear plates which were still being eaten. The eggplant Parmesan was awful . Very runny and tasted like spinach and cheese, nothing remotely like eggplant Parmesan. Very disappointing experience
Excellent service, good selection on menu, great food. Seating is definitely a bit "cozy", but excellent experience overall.
Our food was good and our waiter and staff were helpful and timely. Not the same Osteria as previous owner but not too far off. I will go again. The halibut special was yummy! I find the tables are too close together but understand why.
The food was outstanding and much improved over previous visits. Also, the service from Violet was outstanding! She really knows what a good dining experience is.
Booked this on the spur of a moment and was pleasantly surprised. Good wine list. i had the rack of lamb. I asked for medium rare and got it perfecto that way. Others had the Bolognese and were very happy as well. Service was very good.
we had a reservation and were seated at a table that was placed there at the last minute, in an odd location, I could not move otherwise I could hit the table next to be on both sides. we got up and left.
It is way too noisy and my eggplant parmagiano was bitter as the black outside of the eggplant was cooked with the stacked eggplant. I would never recommend it.
Always we can experience the awesome foods and service. Thanks a lot.
Wonderful food and ambiance. The bill was crazy high for two, over $160. We had three glasses of wine, an appetizer, two main dishes (pasta.) Would only go back for a very special occasion.
Have not been able to dine here for a long time...used to go very often. So pleased that the new owners retained many of the long-standing, favorite dishes that were always reliably delicious. And their generous servings still arrive piping hot Osteria remains a wonderful restaurant...highly recommend Osteria.
Always enjoy dinner there. The food and service are amazing. 100% a must if you are in Palo Alto!
Packed like sardines... food is not first rate.
Very noisy... could not talk...
Another great lunch with our son for my birthday. The server was everything one wants: attentive without overbearing, friendly and with a sense of humor. We enjoyed a first course of fresh well seasoned salads this time before my favorite pasta Penne Fantasia. My wife enjoyed veal piccata and my son had a special ravioli. This is a proper Italian neighborhood restaurant: locally owned that seats less than 60.
Great food and fantastic service. Always the restaurant makes us happy.
Excellent with the restaurant. Was a nice discovery.
Not as good with the app: I received emails saying I did not show while I did, and no way to respond in the app or to the mail. Frustrating, I almost deleted the app :)
Service was very attentive and food was great. Lunch crowd was less than dinner so ambience was probably different.
The food was fresh and delicious! The service was very friendly - felt like family! My Mom and I had an impromptu dinner while I was in town and we could not have ended up at a better restaurant. The food was amazing (and much more than we expected). I look forward to returning the next time I’m in Palo Alto.
My wife and I made last minute reservations, capitalizing on a last minute babysitter arrangement to find time to catch up and check in with each other, while having a good meal. We had our own secluded table, great service, attentive, but not oppressive, and really enjoyed their food and wines. Mission accomplished. We'll be back.
Wonderful experience... love the service Cayley and Francisco provided. The food was fabulous and the ambiance cozy and warm. Nice lighting. Great area easy to Walk downtown and enjoy the area.
Have not been here in probably 20 years, but just as amazing now as it was back then. Apparently the same chef. Wonderful service, ambiance and delicious food! Will go back again soon (not wait 20 years this time).
Food was good but we were seated at a table near the kitchen so felt shoved to the side. Entrees were a little over priced for basic Italian food but it all tasted good and we were seated right away. Wine was overpriced but quite drinkable.
The food is delicious but the table for 4 felt very cramped.
For starters, we ordered the Polenta, meatballs, andCaesar salad. Shared the Chicken Marsala entree. Everything but the Caesar salad was delicious. Salad was a bit sour; perhaps because the anchovies tasted pickled. Service was excellent. We will be returning and recommend eating here..
Celebrating New Year.
Service is a bit slow but overall we are happy with the experience. The food is delicious.
Truly outstanding across the board. Will return for sure.
Wonderful food. Warm and attentive service. Will definitely return !
Osteria has been my favorite Italian place since they opened 30 years ago. Diverse menu, all of it good, and consistent. Service always a delight. They recently expanded their wine list dramatically (probably 10x or more), and they clearly have a discerning buyer.
Osteria is our favorite go to restaurant in downtown Palo Alto. The service is always great, the food is fresh and delicious, and the atmosphere is pleasant.
We had a wonderful evening at Osteria with friends to celebrate Christmas. The food was outstanding.
The Blt pasta was outstanding.
I had not been to Osteria for many years. We found the food very good. My husband’s lamb cannelloni being particularly good. I found the spinach fettuccine very good, but a little over-garliced for my taste. Service was friendly and prompt. We would return.
What an amazing dinner with friends. The food was delicious, staff was so friendly and the restaurant is darling! Very full of holiday cheer.
