The freshest of fish, creatively seasoned and presented!
I wish they wouldn't serve some of their food on the metal trays w/paper lining. The trays keep moving during the entire meal and the paper lining gets soggy and cuts up too.
Love the beautiful heavy dinner plates but the knives and forks constantly fall off onto the table and make a loud noise or fall into your food and the handles get dirty.
The utensils are nice strong and cut well.
Table of 8 on a busy Saturday night. Our server was fabulous! (Eldrige?) He was on top of everything. Food was exactly as ordered, drinks were great, busers and other staff were oh-so-friendly. We will be back.
Great service by Theresa. Very good cocktails, food was excellent. A very good experience.
They need to advertise their winter hours of operations better. They closed prior to the times shown in Open Table.
Lunch at Pacific Catch was very enjoyable. It was a business lunch, so we appreciated that it wasn't noisy in the background. The fish was fresh and very tasty.
Usually one of my favorite places to go. This time they were out of many items on the menu and the server was a bit confused about things. Probably just a bad day.
The food was excellent. I had two of the fish tacos and my spouse had a great piece of fresh fish. Both were generous portions and well prepared and presented. The service was also good. The experience was marred by the failure to fulfill our reservation. Although the table had been booked for a week and I had confirmed by phone that we were going to be about ten minutes late (giving them extra time to secure the table), there was no table available when we arrived nor could the maitre de' tell us when one might become available. As we were on a schedule, we took a seat at a "community" table by the front door. This is not acceptable for an upscale restaurant.
The front can be a little loud, so sit in the back if that's a problem. Otherwise, the service and food are great...and, the variety keeps us coming back.
Good was very good...the service st end was poor. Hard time getting the server bring our tab
Great fusion place
I had lunch with a friend in the bar area. The yellowfin tuna fish tacos and ahi bowl entrees were delicious. More importantly, the service provided Aira was outstanding. She's incredibly sweet, personable and efficient. The bar area is a perfect place for a quiet lunch conversation since that section of the restaurant is fairly empty mid-day. I would not recommend that same area for dinner ;-)
There is a good place even it is not a large restaurant. The food is delicious. I liked the westcoast style burger. And reasonable price.
Met some friends for lunch on a lovely Saturday afternoon. We were seated quickly and they accommodated my friends baby who also joined us. Drinks came quickly as did our food. Everything was fantastic, food was delicious. I would definitely come again. I also recommend this place to families! The place is perfect for them-- large, bright, and everyone is so friendly!
If this had been my first time to dine at Pacific Catch I don’t think I would return. The server was not very attentive — after being seated it took probably 10-15 before she took our order. My food was not hot and the server only came back when we were through with our meal to see if everything was “ok”.
Fish was amazing. Fresh and if fed 4 people, not two. Food and service as incredible but first Island Mule I ordered had zero Vodka. I had to return it but the two Island Mules after were made well. I can’t stress this enough, Mimi our server, was fantastic
Pacific Catch is a chain, fast paced, modest flavor fish establishment. Great place for families, particularly with children. Quality is modest...not bad, not great. Don't go with the expectation of above average flavor. They work hard, are fast and courteous.
Delicious!! And Vinny was great!
We were on the Whole30 diet for the month of October. It’s hard to find a restaurant that gives you options to contour to your eating habits. But Pacific Catch is different. Their options are plentiful and we left satisfied.
The service was quick maybe too quick because we got our appetizers then a few minutes after we got our main dishes. Maybe timing can be monitored just a bit better.
Love the food at Pacific Catch San Mateo
To celebrate a birthday
Upbeat restaurant with good selection of Asian dishes and fusion dishes.
I've been here several times and service was good-great. Not so much this last time. Server was grumpy, never asked for drink refills, plunked appetizers and entrees on the table all at the same time, had to tackle her to ask for a check. Will avoid her station in the future.
Ordered the crab salad, Korean barbecue and fresh fish. Good flavor and the freshness for all.
Was with a group of four. We had some great appetizers and our meals were terrific.
Friday night 6:30pm high noise level intermittent service food average much prefer the Mountain View location of same chain. Will not return.
This is my first low rating for Pacific Catch since we have been going to the Asian Mateo location. Usually it is outstanding but this time the service had problems. It was slow and items ordered were forgotten and even incorrect. I do hope this was a fluke.
Food was tasty and very fresh. Was noisy, but didn't really take away from quality of meal.
Dad's 90th
Made reservations for 6:30p for the first, of my Dad's 90th bday weekend meals. Checked in at 626p - wasn't sat till slightly past 650p.
I checked in with the host several times as people were being sat before us- she said for a larger party (5?) it was harder to sit AMD they were waiting for a table - tho i saw several empty tables that could have sat 5.
We finally sat; ordered food. I wasn't clear that food would randomly arrive meaning entrees before apps. After the mystery arrivals- we waited- waited- my dads food was not coming. We checked in with our server - there was an oversight and my dads meal was just put in.
Were it not for the professional and friendly demeanor of our server (when he could check our table- seemed he was the only server hustling in the front of the restaurant) i would have gotten up and left for how long it took to sit and for the food to come out.
The food was okay. Reading all the reviews i expected much better.
Varied and affordable menu. Food and service were okay but not outstanding. Noise level at this location on the night I went was extreme. I'll try their other locations but won't go back to the San Mateo restaurant
I ordered a sushi roll. They put lemon juice on it. It sucked. Won’t go back. There’s great ethnic food in the area: food that beats the pants off of Pacific Catch.
Very good mai-tias. All five of us had absolutely fresh and delicious fish dinners that were cooked perfectly fish tacos, great grilled striped bass and grilled yellowtail. Wonderful dinners, and we look forward to returning.
The food is OK. Nothing really to write home about. With a lot of poke restaurants popping up in the Bay Area, Pacific Catch may be thrown back in the ocean if it does not diversify their menu to a higher class of cuisine. It was overpriced for the quality of food being served. I am willing to pay a higher price if the quality and uniqueness warrants it. But sadly this place falls flat.
I love the food at Pacific Catch in San Mateo it’s fresh and the various flavors make you want to keep coming back!
I’ve eaten at a PC in SF and was disappointed, so I’m very pleased that we have the best restaurant available in Ssn Mateo!
Great lunch venue as well as dinner. We didn't have to wait for our table. Food was great - reliably good, and was served very quickly. Our server was outstanding and went above and beyond. Such a sweetheart! A great ambassador for the venue!
Great food and drink! One of my favorite spots to eat in San Mateo!
Always consistently good food. Love their updated presentation of their bowls.
I feel the food was below par this time. The Cabo calamari are like crumbs and smaller in size. The firecracker salmon is fine except I found an insect on top of one of the piece. I went during Happy hour and noticed the prices went up a bit too. I don’t mind the price as long as the food is better and safe to eat. Hope things wil improve soon.
The food was delicious and I was so happy they use paper straws and compostable take away boxes.
Thank you for caring about the environment.
Amazing very fresh seafood with very attentive service! Loved the sushi tacos and furikake fries, all washed down with a refreshing agave lemonade. Must try desserts include the luche de leche spring rolls and macadamia nut brownie. Great, welcoming ambiance and mix of diners.
