Celebrating my birthday with grand children and hubby.
Nice time on B Street with a friend at Pacific Catch. Food was great and we felt all the current health guidelines were being followed.
Need to get back in side. The street doesn't do anyone any good. I think I'll wait to return again.
Very tasty food. Fish and shrimp tacos were yummy
Great little place with good menu and decent service.
Pacific Catch doesn’t seem to understand the meaning of reservations. We checked in (twice because the first guy didn’t actually do anything) and waited over 40 minutes past our reservation time to finally be seated. Meanwhile 3 other couples who did not have reservations were seated before us.... when we finally got to sit down the waiter promptly told us we have 3 minutes to order because the kitchen is shutting down. The food came out not very warm (old sides) and some was missing. We were just told sorry about that, but nothing was done. I understand we are in covid times right now. That’s actually why I thought to make a reservation. I would be fine waiting 15-20 minutes after our reservation time because I know they are wiping down everything, less tables since everything has to be out doors, and less staff. However 40+ minutes, 3
minute warning to look at a menu and order, and barely warm food is not acceptable and not the birthday dinner I was expecting. I would say skip this place until the pandemic is over and they are back to normal employee and service levels.
COVID wreaked havoc in our dining experiences. Pacific Catch’s outdoor space is nicely spruced up with wooden slats and wooden dining tables provided an adequately inviting dining experience. Food was as good as before! We ordered poke-coercive trio, kimchi fried rice with egg and broccoli A delicious meal and so glad to be able to enjoy a delightful evening.
Brought metheny wrong entree twice
The restaurant has tables outside in the street behind an attractive fence with tent canopies for the sun.
The food at Pacific Catch is always way above average and the service was its usual excellent quality.
Just as good as always! So fun and very safe for outdoor dining. Food was outstanding as always. We will be back for sure.
The food was great! Juan was a great server, very attentive and cordial! First time there since outside dining offered and it was great!
Had a great time out at Pacific Catch. Was weary of being downtown and out of our normal “bubble” but Pacific Catch made it a safe dining evening for us. We got seated right away, the service was fast, and the food was great. The live music downtown was a nice touch. If I had a choice to sit inside vs outside again, I’d definitely choose outside.
It got chilly. Would have been nice to have heaters. Also no hot beverages was available. Not that hard to boil water.
They provided a lovely dinner and great service on the new outdoor patio. I was just a little disappointed that they did not offer a Birthday dessert, as it was my son's birthday and i had made that note in the reservation. Other than that, it was a nice experience.
Wow, what a great find! Food was delicious and service was fantastic! We will definitely come back!
Food & service outstanding & unhampered by dinning in the street under a tent :) thx to the team !
All four of us loved our food and drink, the attentive service, and we found the outdoor eating in the closed off street to be acceptable, under the covid conditions. We especially love the calamari appetizer, virtually all non-fried fish dishes, and Asian influence salads.
This meal was outdoors as that is the only seating they are allowing for restaurants in our county now during the pandemic. The food was very good. My only disappointment would be the sticky ribs appetizer. They were very large white meat pork ribs although the sauce was good. I would have expected a smaller baby back style rib for an appetizer.
Overall good but not very good. We ordered some appetizers to eat with our cocktails then planned and asked for our dinners. The appetizers came out with our dinner plates, but both preceded the cocktails. The food was tasty and the portions were generous. Guests were a bit too casual about masks - most did not wear masks except when eating or drinking, and it did not appear that wait staff were offering friendly reminders.
So glad they are open again. We used to go every week and now we can again. Please tell the staff not to run away so quickly. We would ask for something like ketchup and they would dash away to get it but we weren’t even done asking for the rest of the stuff we needed.
Great place for pandemic.
The outside seating set up is great! Very comfortable - and the food is great as always.
*Extensive Review on 2 Locations*
Before coming to the San Mateo location, I scoured Yelp reviews. I didn't expect much after looking, but my boyfriend recommended it.
I was blown away, to say the least.
I got the Japanese Wasabi Bowl with Original Ahi Poke, and proceeded to completely devour it to the very last speck of sesame seed. It was fantastic, fresh, and visually appealing.
The other dish I tried was the Salmon Avocado Poke.
The one thing I would be aware of, though, is the serving sizes. They aren't very consistent on how big certain dishes are. I got a small Japanese Wasabi bowl, and it was pretty large (I mean, I could wolf the thing down at 5'2", but still a good portion nonetheless). On the other hand, the Salmon Avocado Poke was a small bowl filled with the salmon avocado mix, and the rest of the plate were these DELICIOUS wonton chips.
Added with a couple drinks, the bill came out to be ~$40. I would definitely say it was worth it. So much so, in fact, that I brought my parents to the Mountain View location the very next day.
And surprise surprise, that location was phenomenal too. We got four dishes.
The first was the Viet Hot Fish, which was basically an crispy Alaskan Cod sandwiched between two toasted and buttered buns (yum!).
We also got the Waygu Burger, and I would say it was the best dish we got that day.
The lobster roll was interesting. Great, of course, and they added their own original spin to it. We think it was the tarragon-dill that got us (we're used to lobster rolls Maine style) and it was a pleasant surprise.
The last was the spicy tuna sushi rolls, which were fantastic, but I must say they seemed to be the the same as the Japanese Wasabi Bowl, only constructed. Both delicious but suspiciously similar.
The fries came out hot and crunchy. I understand why some reviews said they were soggy, but that was only because they didn't eat them immediately and the sauce or coleslaw juice got on them.
I would definitely come again.
From the service, to the food, everything was on point. From the host to the waiter, to the food. It was my first time here, but it won’t be my last.
Delicious food & wonderful staff. Thanks for serving us during this time!
Amazing outdoor dining during COVID. Staff is very friendly and attentive. Clean and safe with delicious entree choices. highly recommend.
Terrific anniversary dinner: bottled Hawaiian water and bottle of Pinot (happily underpriced); cabo calamari, three hefty fish pieces with really good sauces, two sides plus desert was three Moochie balls with hot fudge.
Tables were on the street, which is closed to all vehicles, with a fence around the eating area, and umbrella-tents up to keep the sun at bay.
Very nice time; really attentive wait staff, and full of changes to keep covid out (like different people take the order from those who handle and bring the food). Nice table spacing; masks on everyone who was not eating.
Very worth the price, the time and the eating/drinking pleasure!
I was delighted to dine outdoors and enjoyed the cocktails while celebrating my friend’s birthday. It was my first time here and will
definitely not be my last.
We started with cocktails - Lemon Drop and I had a Mojito! How refreshing to taste a well balanced sink with fresh mint leaves on my Mojito! Appetizers were the awesome Poke Guac with chips,
Calamari and Fried spare ribs! Wow! The absolute freshness of the ahi was amazing as were the calamari and pork ribs- all so tender and depict! Having a couple more cocktails we finished off with the Lobster Roll - with huge pieces of lobster that was sooo
fresh! Also ordered the California Roll which was filled to the max with crab salad and cucumber.
Overall I rate 4 stars because the service was ok but needs improvement to refill water bottles and provide serving plates
before the appetizers arrive. Also my flatware was dirty and I had to ask for another set. All can be improved while we get used to dining outdoors. The food however gets the 5 stars because it was well presented and incredibly fresh and tasty!
The food was delicious and the staff was kind and it was a good experience.
In the midst of this awful coronavirus, we were three of a very few diners. Our server, Shannon was terrific and took great care of us, even as we are certain she and others were facing the prospect of layoffs and/or reduced hours. The food is always good here and that night was no exception. Our salmon and steak tacos, sea bass and korean barbecue steak were all delicious.
This is our favorite restaurant! Service is always good. My daughter loves the sushi options, my husband the fish tacos and friend options. I love that we can all go out to dinner and I can have something diet-friendly and still delicious. I always try something new and it's always good and always weight watchers friendly. Great place with varied and fabulous menu.
Great food and service. Very nice ambiance. Enjoyed the lunch very much
been here many times before and I think the service is the same average to very good. But I did notice that the calamari was smaller portion than we had many times before. The rice bowl portions of the protein was smaller too! it had lots of rice so I think Pacific Catch is trying to save money and that's not good because there are many restaurants out there that are not making portions smaller or filling it with more starch. NOt sure if we are going to come back here again.
They had no record of my resy, but seated us quickly regardless.
1. Our server did not come to check on us.
2. If he had, he would have noticed that one of the orders was missing.
3. During the meal, there wasn't enough replenishment of water and checking-in in general.
4. After the meal, it took a very long time before our dirty dishes were cleared and dessert orders were taken.
5. I've been to Pacific Catch more than a dozen times and I had recommended it to my group. Given this poor service, I don't know if I'd recommend it again.
This restaurant was a pleasant surprise!!! It definitely deserves a five-star rating!! Our waitress was top-notch—she seemed like she really cared that we had a good meal & a positive experience. She made suggestions for our orders but also answered our questions with a real knowledge of the menu!! I had a mixture of a salmon rice bowl with a salmon salad!! It was delicious. My husband’s entree was a yellow fish which he also enjoyed. One side was Brussel sprouts which were amazing! His other side, suggested by our waitress, was crab mashed potatoes!! Also delicious!
No wait time with the reservation. The server was friendly and quick. The food was fresh and delicious and presented well!
Good meal and nice spot in Downtown San Mateo
Our server was nice but not very attentive. Ordered our appetizer about 10 minutes before we ordered our dinner but our entrees came out within minutes of the appetizer so it felt rushed. No small plates were given with the appetizer so it got a little messy. Did not inquire about drink refills until we were almost finished with dessert. I felt that she wanted us to go when she did not even ask if we wanted dessert - I had to ask about it.
If you like a lot of your items on the spicy side, then the food is very good. The taste and portions were very good but I don't like the types of sauces that they give. I would go back but next time I would opt for something different.
Great. Good Food and Warm Setting
