Horrible. I brought 8 people. We walked out. It took an hour and a half after appetizers and 2 complaints to the manager before we left because the entrees did it arrive. The excuse was too many chickens were ordered in the restaurant at the same time. What kind of excuses this?We got no consideration no bottle of wine brought over to the table and totally unprofessional response.
Nice that desert was comped.
Food was delicious but small portions.
Dinner and drinks before a show. Food was good. Started with wagyu beef jerky. It was delicious! Starter was paired with a beer and what was supposed to be a Captain and Coke for me. Mr. Waiter dude, when specifically asked if you have Captain Morgan, do not respond "yes" and then bring your guest Sailor Jerry and assume its all good. They are not interchangeable. Annoyed. We had the tuna crudo - very light, almost non-existent on the tuna, beet salad - very tasty, and the pork chop. Delish! Our drinks were nearly empty when the food was dropped and we wanted to order more drinks, but after the food was dropped by the waiter without a single word to us asking if we needed anything, he disappeared not to be seen again. I stopped another server and asked to have our waiter sent over as we wanted to order drinks and this gentleman was kind enough to take our order and bring our drinks to us. The last time we saw our waiter it was "shall I bring you the bill" and no offer for dessert or whether we wanted anything else. Outside of what I would consider service that could have been better, it was an OK experience.
Innovative brunch menu with unusual and tasty offerings.
Great food and drinks, staff was very accommodating to get us all together.
Worst dining experience of my life. Will never go back.
Hadn't been to the restaurant for years - and it didn't disappoint! It was outstanding. We had a terrific server and the food was great! It was festive and fun and we had the best time. Will go back soon!
Park Tavern is one of my favorite places in SF. Every other time I have been there it was a 5. This time our service was mediocre. 3 of 4 of us got our drinks. Waiter spilled water on our table and just left it. Then 3 of 4 of us got our food. My polenta cakes were good but my salad had little or no dressing and I ended up choking on it. I tried my son’s eggs...very average. I tried my wife’s hash special...awful. I will try again but very surprised with quality of food and service. Also don’t remember it being so loud (piped in music).
Waaaay too expensive for four entre choices. I won’t be back. Oh yeah, and $14 valet fee.
Loved Park Tavern. Great food, drinks and service. Lively, fun in North Beach.
good environment, interesting food selection and the plates were well presented - service was very good
Lovely place. Food was good, but wished for smaller portions with some sides. I got the bacon & leek scramble. Really good, but would have preferred a half portion with salad or fruit.
Horrible too loud music. Ruined dining experience
Really nice evening in North Beach. Took advantage of the half price wine on Sunday evening. I shared the green heirloom tomatoes and I had the salmon and hubby had the burger. We split the ice cream sandwich for desert. Yummy and we will be back.
Food and drinks were actually very good, service was alright. Host seated us quickly. The problem is just way way too many customers. It’s overcrowded with large circular tables packed with straight white families. No air conditioning, it’s too hot in there, loud and way too stuffy
They took care of us nicely for our anniversary
Our food was outstanding... waiter had no personality; I live in the neighborhood. If I have this waiter once more, I will depart.....
The Service and food were excellent. We got there 45 minutes early and they had a table ready. The Shrimp and Grits I had were delicious. My Wife liked the Buttermilk Pancakes They gave us a nice big piece of Lemon cake for our 29th wedding anniversary. It was our first visit to the Park Tavern but I am already planning another one.
This restaurant is amazing. Great food and ambiance. We celebrated our anniversary this past weekend and they gave us glasses of champagne. What a nice surprise! One of my favorite restaurants in the city.
We really looking forward to our meal, unfortunately it did not live up to its reputation.
Service was disjointed verging on dysfunctional.
Food mediocre at best. Undercooked veg.
Pinot Noir bland and overpriced.
Hopefully it was an off night, but sadly we will not be returning or recommending.
I had fried green tomatoes for appetizer and the pan seared salmon. Both were excellent.
Wonderful experience start to finish. We will definitely be back.
Went For our anniversary and were treated to two glasses of champagne
As well as a nice cake at the end of dinner. The dinner was fabulous
Delicious entrees and sides! Desserts were divine! Some of the entrees were bit on the pricy side, but worth it for the quality and taste!
I went here for the first time 6 years ago and loved it. Something has changed. The service was terrible, the food mediocre at best. I will never go back. Too many other GREAT spots in SF.
Amendment to my original review which I left intact below. I made private contact with the restaurant and they responded very promptly with an offer to invite me back. I declined compensation as Park Tavern won me back because of how they handled the follow-up. The service industry (mine included) is reliant on people and people make mistakes. Often times (as is evidenced on the numerous review sites available to us all) the general public expects us to operate with the margin of error of a jet engine and this is clearly unrealistic. For me it's all about the recovery and I appreciate greatly how this was handled by management - thank you!
Got up and walked out after waiting 45 minutes for mains. On three separate occasions we were approached telling us our food would be out "in a few minutes." I am in the industry and had someone simply leveled with us honestly I would be far more forgiving. There was no offer to buy us a round of drinks, etc. so after waiting an eternity we left and went to Tony's down the street.
Park Tavern is our “go to” neighborhood restaurant, really our favorite! The food is consistently outstanding, the service attentive and top notch and the Hostess, Christine, is one of the most competent, professional and bless her, empathetic ever (when our kids were young, they used to let us park their scooters while we ate, and my now teenagers still remember this!
As for our last visit, our guests from NY were so impressed by the food and service, they asked if all SF restaurants were this good!
Service was very slow and the noise level was quite high which made it hard to have a conversation.
Really nice spot! Great ambiance - has a cool vibe. Food options are a bit limited though.
The bartender who served us was
The chicken was excellent. The brussel sprouts were extremely salty. The pork chop was good but nothing outstanding.
Service was very poor. We were served the wrong drinks. Our empty plates stood on our table even after our server passed the table multiple times. Our meals took over an hour to reach us. I wanted to order dessert but we had been there so long, I didn't want to risk being there another hour.
I love this restaurant, and this meal didn't disappoint. The chicken was fantastic, and the risotto was much lighter than most. But the highlight was the brussels sprout chips!
Service was great and we enjoyed the lively ambience. Definitely recommend!
Servers were really attentive and very helpful accommodating my wife’s food allergy.
Returned to Park Tavern after about a year since our last visit. The service was good, the ambience fair, not too noisy. We had the PT fries which were excellent as we remembered. Also had the asparagus soup which was very good. However the mushroom risotto was just ok as were the scallops. The prices are a bit high for the quality of food and with the Washington Square Park fenced off for renovations there was no view. Don’t think we’ll be back any time soon.
Everything hit the spot, service, ambiance, drinks, and of course a good friend. Not quite impressed by the food other than the fries. In general a good experience and would recommend this place to other friends
Good restaurant, the menu could be more innovative, but a safe choice for anyone looking for comfort dishes.
Servers/staff were very friendly and helpful. Food was mediocre and overpriced. At least it was away from the tourists.
The last time I went to Park Tavern was 2 years ago. Since then things seem to have really taken a turn for the worse.
The food service was slow to the point that we had to ask about each individual item ordered because it was averaging about 20 to 30 minutes just to get individual plates on the table.
When the food would arrive, it was either heavily salted, underdone, or cool to the point that it's obvious the plate had been sitting out waiting for someone to bring it to our table.
The manager did acknowledge our poor experience and comp us for two desserts and an entree. But unfortunately, based on our overall dinner, I have no plans to ever go back to Park Tavern again.
Our waitress and other staff were very attentive. We enjoyed our dinner. It was a very warm evening and there is no air conditioning. The noise level was very high, making it difficult to have a conversation and communicate with staff.
The bartender was delightful. Server was fine until he took our order and disappeared. Food took way to long to reach our table. The steak was chewy, pork chop dry, and salmon over-cooked. First time I have been back in 2 years and won't return. So disappointed.
