This restaurant is amazing. Great food and ambiance. We celebrated our anniversary this past weekend and they gave us glasses of champagne. What a nice surprise! One of my favorite restaurants in the city.
We really looking forward to our meal, unfortunately it did not live up to its reputation.
Service was disjointed verging on dysfunctional.
Food mediocre at best. Undercooked veg.
Pinot Noir bland and overpriced.
Hopefully it was an off night, but sadly we will not be returning or recommending.
I had fried green tomatoes for appetizer and the pan seared salmon. Both were excellent.
Wonderful experience start to finish. We will definitely be back.
Went For our anniversary and were treated to two glasses of champagne
As well as a nice cake at the end of dinner. The dinner was fabulous
Delicious entrees and sides! Desserts were divine! Some of the entrees were bit on the pricy side, but worth it for the quality and taste!
I went here for the first time 6 years ago and loved it. Something has changed. The service was terrible, the food mediocre at best. I will never go back. Too many other GREAT spots in SF.
Amendment to my original review which I left intact below. I made private contact with the restaurant and they responded very promptly with an offer to invite me back. I declined compensation as Park Tavern won me back because of how they handled the follow-up. The service industry (mine included) is reliant on people and people make mistakes. Often times (as is evidenced on the numerous review sites available to us all) the general public expects us to operate with the margin of error of a jet engine and this is clearly unrealistic. For me it's all about the recovery and I appreciate greatly how this was handled by management - thank you!
Got up and walked out after waiting 45 minutes for mains. On three separate occasions we were approached telling us our food would be out "in a few minutes." I am in the industry and had someone simply leveled with us honestly I would be far more forgiving. There was no offer to buy us a round of drinks, etc. so after waiting an eternity we left and went to Tony's down the street.
Park Tavern is our “go to” neighborhood restaurant, really our favorite! The food is consistently outstanding, the service attentive and top notch and the Hostess, Christine, is one of the most competent, professional and bless her, empathetic ever (when our kids were young, they used to let us park their scooters while we ate, and my now teenagers still remember this!
As for our last visit, our guests from NY were so impressed by the food and service, they asked if all SF restaurants were this good!
Service was very slow and the noise level was quite high which made it hard to have a conversation.
Really nice spot! Great ambiance - has a cool vibe. Food options are a bit limited though.
The bartender who served us was
The chicken was excellent. The brussel sprouts were extremely salty. The pork chop was good but nothing outstanding.
Service was very poor. We were served the wrong drinks. Our empty plates stood on our table even after our server passed the table multiple times. Our meals took over an hour to reach us. I wanted to order dessert but we had been there so long, I didn't want to risk being there another hour.
I love this restaurant, and this meal didn't disappoint. The chicken was fantastic, and the risotto was much lighter than most. But the highlight was the brussels sprout chips!
Service was great and we enjoyed the lively ambience. Definitely recommend!
Servers were really attentive and very helpful accommodating my wife’s food allergy.
Returned to Park Tavern after about a year since our last visit. The service was good, the ambience fair, not too noisy. We had the PT fries which were excellent as we remembered. Also had the asparagus soup which was very good. However the mushroom risotto was just ok as were the scallops. The prices are a bit high for the quality of food and with the Washington Square Park fenced off for renovations there was no view. Don’t think we’ll be back any time soon.
Everything hit the spot, service, ambiance, drinks, and of course a good friend. Not quite impressed by the food other than the fries. In general a good experience and would recommend this place to other friends
Good restaurant, the menu could be more innovative, but a safe choice for anyone looking for comfort dishes.
Servers/staff were very friendly and helpful. Food was mediocre and overpriced. At least it was away from the tourists.
The last time I went to Park Tavern was 2 years ago. Since then things seem to have really taken a turn for the worse.
The food service was slow to the point that we had to ask about each individual item ordered because it was averaging about 20 to 30 minutes just to get individual plates on the table.
When the food would arrive, it was either heavily salted, underdone, or cool to the point that it's obvious the plate had been sitting out waiting for someone to bring it to our table.
The manager did acknowledge our poor experience and comp us for two desserts and an entree. But unfortunately, based on our overall dinner, I have no plans to ever go back to Park Tavern again.
Our waitress and other staff were very attentive. We enjoyed our dinner. It was a very warm evening and there is no air conditioning. The noise level was very high, making it difficult to have a conversation and communicate with staff.
The bartender was delightful. Server was fine until he took our order and disappeared. Food took way to long to reach our table. The steak was chewy, pork chop dry, and salmon over-cooked. First time I have been back in 2 years and won't return. So disappointed.
Great place for San Francisco a walk far from the fishermans warf
First time eating at Park Tavern and all I can say is WOW! The quality of the food, the service and the cool surroundings made for a great Sunday brunch. I will definitely be back!
Risotto was pretty bad. Not sure how you can screw up risotto. The other food was fine but nothing to write home about. Server didn’t care enough to swap out a drink that I didn’t like. Hard to find someone to get a water refill. Valet is rude and over charged us for “making him wait” and he “has a life.”
Delicious food and wonderful service from hostess, server, food runner, and even the busboys were super sweet!
We ordered the scallops and steak. The scallops were undercooked and not great and the steak was grisly and fatty and we paid $42!
The salmon and Park Tavern salad and they were good.
Definitely an off night for a place that I usually think is close to perfect. The chicken was flavorless and my husband’s risotto undercooked - and not the al dente the waitress was trying to pass it off as. Extra disappointing as it was my birthday dinner.
This place is so easy to enjoy. The attitude is friendly in a clean and welcoming environment where the food is always good. Their fried calamari is still one of the best around and does not disappoint and they’re deep-fried asparagus were amazing. One of my favorites when I’m looking for a light lunch or supper is the Caesar salad with chicken which is not overdressed with Caesar salad dressing but even the small one is a meal in itself. Steaks are perfectly done and just about everything else on the menu that I ever experience with friends has left us walking out of this restaurant happy and satisfied.
We came for brunch and it was absolutely delicious! A beautiful atmosphere and perfectly crafted plates. We had smoked salmon toast, pancakes, French toast and the bacon and leek scramble. All were perfect! The mimosas were awesome as were the other brunch cocktails. Highly recommend!
I’ve always loved this restaurant but this experience was substandard. The food was good but the entree came almost 30 minutes after we finished the appetizer. We dealt with so many wait staff that it wasn’t clear who are waiter or waitress was. They spent much more time filling our water glasses than giving us the speed and service we needed. It was a disappointment as I was entertaining old friend from out of town and I raved about the place.
Service was super slow. Took over 20 min to get our burgers and they weren’t even that good for an $18 burger :(
WE had a wonderful dinner! The salmon was outstanding and papardelle were excellent. The appetizier with shrimp wrapped in bacon was worth coming back for!
Beautiful bar and restaurant with friendly, efficient service and always outstanding food. Happy hour prices are exceptional for both appetizers and wine.
Such a delightful experience for my husband’s birthday. Arriving early, we were seated immediately. Then the wonderful Sara (bar manager) appeared with two glasses of bubbles. Never feeling rushed, we were able to peruse the menus and consult with Sara about some wines. We started with both the Brussels SproutsChips and the Demons on Horseback. Both were cooked perfectly, tho the chips were a tad too salty. The scallops were divine and one can never go wrong with the poulet noir. We’re already looking forward to a return visit.
The service was excellent - attentive, timely, courteous and knowledgeable. The vibe as that if a private club, warm and a bit frenetic. Our food was tasty, but we were a little disappointed with the portions (the scallops felt more like an appetizer portion than an entree size). The mixed drinks were good but not great. And the desert was mediocre. Overall, we enjoyed it but hoped for a bit more at this price point. We’d go back but would ask a few more questions about the portions and would skip desert.
Love Park Tavern. Enjoyed the food. Menu is a bit limited for brunch, wish they had a lunch menu. Staff cranked up the music making discussion less enjoyable so that was real bummer. Still, would go back.
Our second visit and all four of us loved everything but the noise level.
We had fantastic salmon and an amazing beet salad. The wine list has some very good wines at reasonable prices. We'll go again when we get to San Francisco.
Birthday dinner for a friend, casual mid week.
Lovely dinner at an outside table - service was excellent, cake and sparkling wine on the house at the end of the meal.
Park Tavern is a neighborhood gem!
Very fun place to celebrate something special. The restaurant goes all out to join in the fun. Food is prepared beautifully, and served with professionalism.
