Caroline and Tara always make us feel so welcome! Nathan and Tracy were great and the food was outstanding! Mussels were unbelievably delicious and the pork chop was wonderful!
Jessie L waitress was excellent! Mussels were the best we ever had. From appetizers to desert fantastic meal!!!
Beautiful restaurant and food is amazing!
Food and service are always wonderful at Pearl. We brought friends this weekend who had never been and they were not disappointed. Everyone loved their dishes and the staff were fantastic!
Pre thanksgiving family dinner
A very fine meal: bouillabaisse and halibut were superb as were the oysters and clam chowder for the first course.
The food was very good. We had clam chowder, the halibut, the bratwurst, and the burger. The shoestring fries that came with the burger were enough for 3 of us to share! Everything was delicious.
The downstairs pub is quite small, about 8 tables and a bar. I thought we would be sitting in the restaurant upstairs but it was closed. It can get quite loud in the pub but it was fine for our meal.
Will definitely return when the patio is open.
Thank you for the kind words- We will be back upstairs for the next three weeks at at least for the holidays and Christmas Prelude. Please do join us again soon- and we will see you in the summer when the patio is open!
The more I explore the menu the more I find to love. The food is creative without being off the charts. Everything is prepared thoughtfully and careful by a professional chef. Shrimp cocktail--the best I have had by far. I always start with at least four shrimp. Whatever you do, do not miss the clam chowder or Eleanor's classic caesar salad--never had anything like it. Superb. Fish is always prepared to perfection. And you need not limit your taste to seafood. The pork chop is perfect and tender as is the pan fried chicken. String potatoes to die for. Exceptional deserts. A great atmosphere by a warm fire, excellent friendly service and fabulous food in a beautiful restaurant.
Jimm, Thank you so much for the kind words and detailed review of our favorite items! It sure does sound like you have made your way through the menu! We do hope to have you join us again soon for some more shrimp cocktail and to finish your trek through our small yet mighty menu!
So happy we stumbled across this charming restaurant! Wood burning fireplace set the mood, great happy hour menu and our entrees were delicious. All staff were extremely friendly and timely with service. Tables were spread far apart and as we enjoyed privacy and wonderful meal. Will certainly go back soon.
ReneeW, We are so glad you stumbled upon us as well. Thank you for the kind words about our spacious dining room and space between tables, we do agree it does make a difference to be able to have your own experience and not one with the table squished up next to you. The fireplaces will be burning all winter long so we hope to see you again soon.
Awesome food in a fantastic atmosphere. The staff was short handed the night we were there but the only evidence of that was the way they were floating around from bar to tables and we were served by three different people. But all were very polite and very attentive. Can’t wait to go back!
Absolutely loved Pearl! The food was awesome, and everyone working there was so friendly. I highly recommend the clam chowder and the lobster roll with the shoestring fries. So delicious!
Thank you AudreyA!
This was our second time dinning at Pearl. During our first visit a few months back we left unsure if the place was worth it. So in fairness to this restaurant, we went back to re-evaluate the menu. This time we left with a more definitive impression. The menu is rather simplistic and the taste is frankly nothing to rave about. Also, it is never a good sign when you see an employment notice on the wall looking " for a new cook". Couple with that the pricing is on the high side and on the ambiance of the place I will refrain from making any comment as most people look for something different in the decor.
We appreciate you giving us another chance, but are saddened to hear we not what you are looking for. I do want to mention, Our sandwich board outside on the sidewalk advertising for servers and cooks is a reflection of the towns seasonality and the struggle almost every restaurant (country wide) has to find staff. I am sorry that advertisement outside had a negative impact on your experience, but its the reality of our industry especially in a seasonal town.
What a great spot. Fun atmosphere- especially with the fireplace going. Sweet waitress and staff. Head chef even came over to see if she needed to get food going for our little guy. Delicious food. Appreciated happy hour specials for a bonus!
Thank you Mp6561, we love hearing about the little things in each experience that are your highlights! So happy you enjoyed the fireplace and Chef Rebecca's visit! Hopefully we will see you and the family soon!
The whole experience was wonderful! Food was beyond expectations. Lobster roll was chuck full of lobster and shoestring fries so yummy. Oysters were so fresh and deliciousFireplace was lit and really added to the night. Waitress was knowledgeable and very sweet
Thank you so much for all the highlights! Hope to see you again soon!
Limited but thoughtful menu and a well paired, modestly priced wine list. Well crafted lobster stew is a winner, paired with the Murphy Goode Chardonnay. Save room for the chocolate mousse..not too sweet.
Very eloquently put. Thank you so much for the highlights to your evening. Thank you for the kind words and we hope to have you join us again!
Have been twice and both times the food has been delicious, the drinks wonderful, and the service great. Our only complaint is that because the space is so open, the noise level makes it hard to hear others. Can't wait to come back when the fireplace is going!!
Thank you kcapi, We are working on a solution for the sound, and sorry to hear it was an annoyance. Please come join us again soon, we will have the fireplace going all winter, upstairs or down!
On a Friday evening when most of the restaurants in Kennebunk were hopping Pearl was less than half full. It is a much better restaurant than that—as good as much of the competition.
Thank you- I Agree, and I hope your review and all the great words people have been saying lately will keep spreading through town. Until then, thank you for joining us and for the support, we hope to see you soon!
Excellent from beginning to end.
Thank you, Thank you, RayB!
First time at Pearl and we loved it! Everything was delicious!
Thank you PatriciaG!
It was a wonderful meal ! Great ambiance and service. Delicious food. Fabulous chef
Thank you JoeCan! We appreciate your kind words!
Food very disappointed not as discussed with server
Since this is the “peaceful season” in Kennebunkport, the restaurant was not full at all when we arrived, which may be predictable, but a shame for anyone who ate dinner elsewhere. The service was first rate, the food exquisite. I had Damariscotta River oysters to begin, followed by pan roasted Scottish Salmon, Blueberry Lemon Bundlette, and a digestif that was new to me—Amaro sfumato Rabarbaro. This was the beat restaurant meal I have had all year. We will go back as often as we can.
Thank you Janet for you perspective and insight!
One of the better restaurants i have gone too over this past year. Excellent food, great service and nice atmosphere
Our waitress, Tracy was most pleasant and energetic, what a great personality! The place was much prettier when It was Gresini‘s, it is pretty basic now, But nice enough.
Tracey is fantastic, truly does care for each guest, and of course her outgoing personality just dances right out of her! Thank you for the compliments, I will be sure to let her and the team know.
We came for dinner with my mother, who lives in the area, and didn’t know the restaurant yet. We ordered oysters and shrimp cocktail and Caesar salads to start. My husband had the lobster stew, I had the bouillabaisse, my mom has the special, a salmon with tomatoes and corn. All of the food was terrific: the salads were fresh and delightfully made, the cocktail sauce tasted house made and I wanted some to take home—I never feel that way. The oysters were Damariscotta and delicious, and while all the entrees were beloved, my bouillabaisse was the envy of the table. It was a hearty portion that did not skimp and the broth was sublime. But I loved my husband’s lobster stew, which was rich and original. I felt like I was being re-introduced to classics, but with style and intelligence. My aperitif, a cocktail with Prosecco and Lillet blanc, was much the same. Our server was funny and smart, and took good care of us, and the other servers seemed handy and swift. The room is beautiful, with a massive fireplace, rows of chandeliers and pleasing hardwood floors, and we did not feel crowded at our table despite it being a holiday weekend. A great job well done, by everyone.
Thank you so much for your kind words and details on your experience with us! We are pleased, and so happy you enjoyed your experience we have worked hard to create! You hit the nail on the head with "reintroducing to the classics" but with Chef Rebecca's own take on things, we are thrilled to hear you felt it was intelligent! Thank you for your time.
open space....hard floors...noise level moderate to high...service poor. food good
Attractive dining room. My guest and I had been on a week long quest for the best lobster roll. The Pearl lobster roll was disappointing for several reasons. The serving portion was small for the high price. Didn't look anything like the photo advertising the "award winning" roll. The plate was heaped with thin stick french fries which were cold and undercooked. Our lobster roll was a lobster salad roll and the lobster meat was wet, kind of squishy. I don't think it was frozen, but it needed draining or patting dry before serving. Overall, we rated their lobster roll in last place out of six rolls. Next trip we'll go to the shack just over the Kenneybunkport bridge.
Friendly, enthusiastic service and flavorful food outweigh the small tables and uncomfortable chairs. We will return.
Thank you so much for your compliments to our service staff, they have indeed been working very hard this summer and I am very proud of their service and efficiency. Although I am sorry you felt uncomfortable in the dining room, I am happy to hear you will be returning!
Wonderful food and service. The Pearl is a bit loud due to poor acoustics
We are working on a solution for the noise level and apologize for the disruption of what seems to have been a great evening. Thank you for your review.
Good place for happy hour, dinner not so much. Fresh oysters and the fried oysters are fantastic. Good wine and drink specials. The place seems short staffed....not many servers and very long wait for everything. In all fairness, labor market in southern Maine is tight and staff very hard to recruit and hire. Had bouillabaisse with “lobster broth”. Was mostly mussels and definitely not lobster broth. Very strong but undistinguishable flavor......wasn’t lobster. Place has great potential and owner has great reputation but needs fine tuning. Great for happy hour. Won’t go for dinner again
I am truly sorry you did not enjoy Pearl. Although I would never argue what you tasted or your feeling on something I just wanted to assure you we would never falsely advertise what we are serving. I do agree that the labor market in Maine is hard, and our industry is struggling to find decent (if any) help for the kitchen and the service staff, but we do feel that we are providing personal, efficient and welcoming service. If you have you have the time, please email me at SpatPearl@gmail
Food was amazing and the service was as well.
Thank you so much for you kind words, we truly are grateful for your support!
Pearl provided a wonderful way for my husband and me to celebrate our birthdays. A few comments on the food: The dressing on the Caesar salad needs a little salt. The salted shrimp appetizer was amazing. I thought that the halibut was slightly overcooked being a little on the dry side.
JoanH, I am sorry to hear you needed some tweaks to you meal- do not ever hesitate to let us know while you are here so we may make sure that you leave happy and satisfied!
Great service. Food was delicious with options for our non seafood eating kids. Loved the oysters, lobster, and mussels.
Thank you AllanG!
The menu is brief while affording a more than adequate range of choices. The food is very well prepared and nicely presented. Service is outstanding and the wait staff makes the occasion of dining there very enjoyable.
The staff couldn't have been nicer. It's a little noisy inside but you get used to it.
Delicious food, friendly service, pretty room. Great vacation experience.
Thank you adventurousdiners!
I visited this restaurant alone which is always an adventure. However, the staff was very friendly and attentive. I started with a cocktail the name of which I can't remember but it turned out to be the New England version of a Mint Julep. It was quite good but came in a glass with shaved ice mounded over the top like a sno cone. Didn't particularly care for the ice mounding. Not sure what it added other than insuring that you had to drink through a straw which I hate doing with a cocktail. I had a baby lettuce salad and a lobster roll. While the salad sounds quite bland but was outstanding. Dressed perfectly. The lobster roll was also fantastic. Had mayo/aioli with succulent lobster and a really good roll. The ambiance is pretty plain. Its a large restaurant and definitely had a shore feel.
Food was terrific and the prices were reasonable for the quality and portion sizes.
Small menu. Halibut and pork chop both very good.
The air conditioning almost blew us out of the place, making our food cold in no time.
PamelaS, I do wish we could have made some changes for you with tables or taken down the AC more if we were not already aware. These hot and humid days do make keeping ambient temperatures less predictable. We will continue to keep an eye on it but do hope you'll give us another try sometime!
Being from the Chesapeake Bay, we are mighty particular about oysters. These Maine oysters were outstanding. We sat at the bar, very personable bartender. Will be going back.
Thank you. We are pleased you enjoyed your experience and look forward to your next visit!
